270 Obedient Water

Their original plan was to let Jin Lu capture the evidence with a video camera, then send people from the organization to capture Qiao Li, Qiao Yi, and Andy.

They needed a few more contingencies now that Qiao Yu was added to the equation. While Qiao Yu was quite skilled for his age, he could not compete with the hun-wielding veterans of Andy’s faction. Someone had to protect Qiao Yu and escort him out.

“Before the arrest, I’ll try and get Qiao Yu out. I want you to stay here; don’t wander off alone, am I clear?” Qiao Jing’s steely-eyed gaze was fixed on Qiao Yue as he spoke.

Qiao Jing had not wanted to be too involved in the operation, but for Qiao Yu’s sake, he would have to do more. He would see Qiao Yu leave unscathed.

“It’s dangerous,” Qiao Yue murmured, worried about Qiao Jing’s safety.

Andy’s style of doing things was different from Trand’s. Trand was ruthless but always open in his confrontations.

However, Andy was different. He was unpredictable, and the way his mind worked was a mystery to them.

Moreover, Andy had invited several celebrities who were not supposed to be there. Those celebrities would also be implicated if the matter got out of hand.

Although Qiao Jing was very influential in C-Country, he could not afford to offend that many celebrities.

If those celebrities worked together, destroying the Qiao family was not impossible. Therefore, they needed to be very careful, ensuring they would not be exposed in the aftermath.

Justice is blind, and few in the upper echelons of society were paragons of virtue. Hoping for them to uphold justice was always a gamble.

“Be careful,” Qiao Yue warned as she reached out to hold Qiao Jing by the arm.

Qiao Jing nodded and turned to leave the room.

Qiao Yue returned to her vigil, staring at the large screen. Jin Lu had arrived.

Dancing lights flickered in the private room, bouncing off disco balls held aloft. The air was filled with the fragrance of wine.

Jin Lu sniffed, feeling that there was something unusual about the smell.

The potent mix of alcohol and perfume that saturated the air was so strong she could not help but wonder what it was trying to conceal… Was it a hallucinogen?!

Jin Lu had frequented several bars throughout the year and had grown accustomed to certain smells.

The others in the rooms seemed ignorant of the danger they were in. They were all dressed to the nines.

Thin, chiffon skirts revealed the fair skin of several ladies, while low-cut, shoulder-revealing dresses exposed their beautiful curves. The ensemble highlighted their narrow waists, bringing out the best in their forms. Each of them seemed more self-satisfied than the last as if they were there competing at a beauty pageant.

Perhaps they felt they would garner attention and praise through their outfits. Still, they were, in reality, secondary to the main attraction: the trays laden with food and drink, laced with hallucinogenic drugs just waiting to be consumed.

Jin Lu picked up a flute of champagne and sniffed it, hoping to see if she could identify what was inside.

“Jin Lu, don’t inhale the fumes. Find a corner to sit down,” Qiao Yue spoke softly into Jin Lu’s earpiece.

Jin Lu hastily put down the glass and went to a quiet corner.

A din arose amid the crowd of gathered celebrities as they anxiously awaited the representative from the AT Company to arrive. It served to cover up Jin Lu’s movements.

“It’s a hallucinogen,” Jin Lu whispered into her concealed microphone. 𝘧𝔯𝑒𝒆𝓌𝘦𝘣𝓷𝘰ѵ𝑒𝘭. 𝐜om

Even though it had only been for a short while, Jin Lu was certain of what she had smelled.

Barely discernable through the haze of wine and roses was the distinct smell of medicine.

The hallucinogenic drug was called Obedient Water. As the name suggested, it made one more susceptible to outside influences when ingested.

Some celebrities had strange fetishes, and it was a popular drug in certain circles.

“I know.” Qiao Yue had seen similar products while shopping online. She had sent people to investigate it before, but they always turned up empty-handed. The only thing they knew was that it was from D-Country.

It seemed like Andy, Trand, and Mahad were closely related to the creation of the hallucinogen.

Andy entered the room just as Qiao Yue was about to issue further orders to Jin Lu.

He wore a black velvet suit, complimenting the gentlemanly smile he wore.

Qiao Yue only wanted to kill him when she saw his face.

“Ladies, welcome to AT Company’s audition!”
