Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Not the Slightest Bit of Guilt?

"That’s right. We just need to deal with Yang Qi," one of the women said. "Otherwise, even if the three of us scrape together 1.5 billion, we’ll end up penniless. We’ve only just had a couple of good days. I don’t want to go back to that."

The two women were in agreement; neither wanted to pay.

"Then let’s kill him." Wu Chong’s expression turned vicious. "We only need to spend 100 million to hire some truly terrifying assassins. Killing a guy like Yang Qi will be a piece of cake."

"We don’t need to spend that much; ten million is plenty. For an ordinary person like Yang Qi, an assassin costing one million could do the job. To be safe, let’s budget ten million."

Wu Chong nodded. "Alright, I’ll contact the assassins. We’ll split the cost three ways."

"No problem," the two women agreed with a nod.

They had reached a consensus. Yang Qi had to be eliminated for good.

Soon, the assassins were found, and everything was arranged. Wu Chong made the call. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Yang Qi, we’ve gathered the money, 1.5 billion in total. Come to my house. Bring the original video, all copies, and those photos!"

"Alright, no problem!" Yang Qi replied, a cold smile touching his lips.

So the three of them are really together. Perfect. I can take them all out in one go.

「At Wu Chong’s villa.」

All three of them were there, along with three ace assassins they had hired for a total of ten million. These were not ordinary people but well-known figures in the world of assassins—true professionals. It was an expensive price to pay, but it was their insurance policy.

"The assassins are in position," one of the women said. "Now we just wait for Yang Qi. Wu Chong, are you sure he’ll come?"

"He definitely will," Wu Chong said with a smile. "That kid was ruined by the Zhang Family. What he needs most right now is money."

"That’s good to hear." Both women felt relieved.

Soon enough, Yang Qi arrived. He had come alone, not bringing Xiong Ba, who would just be a liability. If there was real danger, Xiong Ba would be no help and would only cause more trouble.

Wu Chong personally went to the door to greet him with a broad smile, leading him inside.

Yang Qi smiled back. "Where’s the money? Bank transfer or cash? If it’s cash, I’ll need to arrange for someone to transport it."

Suddenly, the smiles on the faces of Wu Chong and the two women twisted into ferocious snarls.

"You still want money, Yang Qi?" Wu Chong said coldly. "You’re unbelievably naive. 1.5 billion! You actually had the guts to ask for it! If you hadn’t been so greedy, maybe things wouldn’t have come to this! Now, you’re finished!"

"Exactly," one of the women sneered. "You really are the same idiot you’ve always been. Did you believe us so easily?"

Yang Qi put on a panicked expression. "You... you’re not going back on your word, are you?"

"Cut the crap! Hand over the video and the photos now," Wu Chong demanded. "Do that, and we might let you live. Otherwise, don’t blame us for what happens next!"

He sneered and clapped his hands.

Three men appeared in the large hall. One blocked the door, another stood by the window, and the third walked toward Yang Qi.

"These three are professional assassins we hired for ten million," Wu Chong threatened. "There’s no escape for you. You’re just a college student with no strength to speak of. You’re useless."

"That’s right," one of the others added. "We don’t want to push things to the extreme. Besides, the Zhang Family will kill you sooner or later anyway. You might as well just listen to us. It’s for your own good."

The look of panic vanished from Yang Qi’s face, replaced by a knowing smile. "Oh dear. I was in such a rush to get here... it seems I forgot to bring them. Don’t worry, though. I’ve already arranged for someone to bring them over. If you kill me now, you won’t get a thing."

"You’re asking for it!" both women raged. It was clear Yang Qi was just toying with them.

"Wait!" Wu Chong shook his head. "This kid has no one to help him besides Xiong Ba. That useless oaf is no match for these three assassins. Let’s just wait a bit and see what other tricks he has up his sleeve."

"Hmph! You’d better not try anything funny, or you’ll die a miserable death!" the three of them warned Yang Qi before settling in to wait.

Soon, the so-called video and photos were delivered. A chubby man walked in, wiping sweat from his forehead. It was Huang Borren.

"The items have been delivered. Aren’t you going to pay up now?" Yang Qi asked with a faint smile, crossing his legs leisurely.

"Didn’t you hear what we said earlier?" Wu Chong jeered. "This stuff is what you’ll use to trade for your life. You still want money? Do you really think we’re stupid enough to pay for it? We went to all the trouble of selling out Zhang Xiaoduo to get our money. We haven’t had nearly enough time to enjoy the good life yet. Give you money? What a joke!"

He lifted his chin, his expression full of arrogance, as if he held the power of life and death over Yang Qi.

Yang Qi sighed. "I thought you might at least feel a shred of guilt toward Xiaoduo. But I see now that I was wrong. Some people in this world truly have no conscience at all."

The look in Yang Qi’s eyes began to shift. The air in the room grew frigid. This was the second time Huang Borren had felt this terrifying presence. It was horrifying, absolutely terrifying, like being plunged into the depths of hell. The fear made every cell in his body tremble violently.

"Heh, feel guilty for her?" the trio scoffed. "She was just a little fool. Why would we feel guilty?"

"Huang Borren!" Yang Qi suddenly bellowed.

At his command, Huang Borren gave the order.

CRASH!

The doors and windows were smashed open as a group of people stormed inside.

Before the three assassins could even react, they were eliminated.

Seeing this, Wu Chong and the two women collapsed to the floor, paralyzed with terror. They were utterly devastated.

"How can this be!"

They couldn’t understand how this could have happened. How could Yang Qi have such powerful experts on his side? Any one of these newcomers was far stronger than the assassins they had hired.

"You three idiots," Huang Borren scoffed. "The assassins you hired aren’t even worth one hundred thousand, yet you spent ten million on them? What a joke!"

"Wu Chong, what kind of useless people did you find?" the two women shrieked at him.

"But I got them from Bai Xingjian," Wu Chong stammered, completely bewildered. "How could they be bad?"

Bai Xingjian was a true boss in the Jianghu. He ran what looked like a foreign trade company on the surface, but it was actually an assassin agency. The assassins from his company were supposed to be reliable. A ten-million-level team shouldn’t have been this weak.

But this was the result. It was over. They had been royally screwed.

Wu Chong looked at Huang Borren, a flicker of recognition in his eyes, but he couldn’t place the face. "Sir, you must have made a mistake. Yang Qi is just a bankrupt nobody; you don’t need to help him. If you agree to help us instead, we can give you five hundred million—no, one billion! How about it?"

SLAP!

Huang Borren struck Wu Chong across the face. "Who the hell do you think you are? How dare you call Mr. Yang a bankrupt nobody? You’re looking to die! Forget one billion, not even ten billion could make me betray Mr. Yang!"
