Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Hua Zi, stop making trouble!

"This store will do. Armani’s menswear is quite good," Lin Qingxuan said with a smile as the sports car pulled up on a clothing street in Kang City. She and Yang Qi were standing in front of the Armani boutique. "It’s a shame we’re short on time. Otherwise, I’d have a suit custom-tailored for you, something much better than this. You’ll just have to make do for now!"

Yang Qi was speechless. This is ’making do’? He used to wear Armani all the time, so he naturally gravitated toward the store.

Just then, Lin Qingxuan’s phone rang.

"How annoying," she muttered. "Yang Qi, you go on in and pick some things out. I need to take this call." With that, she turned and got back into the car.

Yang Qi gave a wry smile. I can still afford Armani; she doesn’t need to pay for me. After all, of the money I got from auctioning the Body Tempering Pill, I only used fifty million to start the company and another ten million to bail out Ye Fei. There’s still plenty left.

The entrance to the Armani store wasn’t crowded, as very few people could truly afford such high-end menswear, and even those who could were often hesitant to spend the money. Yang Qi walked straight toward the entrance but was unexpectedly stopped by a security guard.

"Sir, hold on a moment!"

"What’s wrong?" Yang Qi asked, finding it strange. I’m just here to buy some clothes.

"Sir, what’s your business here?" the security guard asked coldly.

"To buy clothes, of course," Yang Qi replied, his brow furrowing. He had never actually been to a retail store before; Li Qiutong had always bought his clothes, and he wore them without giving it much thought.

"Sorry, sir, but we’re expecting an important guest today, so we’re temporarily closed to the public," the security guard said. Though his tone was polite, his eyes betrayed clear disdain. Only people of status frequented this high-end menswear boutique. Having worked here for many years, the guard could tell at a glance that someone dressed like Yang Qi couldn’t possibly afford anything inside.

If I let this guy in, he’ll just try on a bunch of clothes without buying a single thing. Then I’ll be the one getting yelled at. These people are so annoying. We get several of them every day, getting us chewed out and sometimes even docked pay. I’ll just find an excuse to get rid of him.

"Ah," Yang Qi grunted, about to turn and leave.

Just then, several men in sharp business suits arrived. The security guard immediately rushed over like a fawning dog. "Oh, Director Wang! You’re here!"

"I’m here to buy clothes. What, you have other customers and won’t let me in?" Director Wang said coldly, glancing at the guard.

"Of course not!" the security guard smiled obsequiously. "Director Wang, you can come by anytime! You’re one of our most valued customers. Please, right this way!" I can’t afford to offend Director Wang. If I do, I’ll lose my job.

Yang Qi had already started to walk away, but this scene made his blood boil. He turned back. "Didn’t you say no one could go in? Then why can they?" It was such blatant snobbery.

The guard dropped the pretense and spoke bluntly. "Nonsense! Director Wang can actually afford it. You? I know exactly what you’re here for. You just want to try on clothes, don’t you? Or maybe even steal something? I’ve seen plenty of your type!"

Several salespeople came out, looking at Yang Qi with similar scorn. It was true that since his recent troubles, Yang Qi hadn’t paid much attention to his appearance. He looked somewhat shabby, but he was still neatly dressed.

He frowned. "Get your manager out here."

"You? You want to see our manager?" the guard scoffed. "Our manager isn’t someone a beggar like you can meet just because you feel like it."

"What’s going on here?" a sudden voice cut in.

A woman in her thirties, dressed in professional attire, came out. She was rather attractive.

"Manager Zhang, it’s nothing. This kid dresses like a beggar and was insisting on barging in," the security guard said, pointing at Yang Qi.

Zhang Ling glanced casually at Yang Qi, then froze. A moment later, she burst into laughter. "Well, well, if it isn’t President Yang!"

Yang Qi recognized her too. He remembered once wandering into this store while shopping with Li Qiutong. Back then, Zhang Ling was just a sales associate. She had flattered him endlessly, a true sycophant, practically groveling. He never expected that in the time since, she would have become the boutique’s manager.

"Zhang Ling, right? I’m here to buy clothes, and your security guard won’t let me in," Yang Qi stated.

Zhang Ling smiled. "You really have some nerve. Your company went bankrupt, and now you’re wandering around like a beggar. I think the security guard did a fine job. He was being responsible. We shouldn’t let fraudsters and thieves like you inside!"

Yang Qi frowned. "I have no interest in stealing your pathetic clothes. Besides, I have money." While I’m not as wealthy as I used to be, I still have tens of millions. Buying a few stupid outfits is nothing. I could even buy this whole store if I wanted to.

"Hahaha, that’s hilarious!" Zhang Ling laughed so hard she trembled. "Yang Qi, oh, Yang Qi, stop trying to bluff. You think I don’t know your situation? You just lost everything and don’t even have a place to live, yet you want to buy Armani? I bet you can’t even afford the clothes from the street stalls that cost a few dozen yuan. Now hurry up and get out of here! Don’t lower the class of our boutique!"

"You’re a manager, and this is how you treat customers?" Yang Qi sneered.

"You call yourself a customer?" Zhang Ling scoffed. "Pfft! Back when you were worth a billion, I would have been happy to warm your bed and sleep with you. But what are you now? Why should I respect you? Beggar! Get lost! Scram, as far away as you can!"

Zhang Ling felt an incredible thrill. The sensation of trampling on someone who was once her superior was simply exhilarating. She recalled the time she had tried to seduce Yang Qi with her looks, only to be pushed away. The memory made her current satisfaction even sweeter. Finally, I’ve had my revenge and avenged my past humiliation!

The other staff members chimed in with disdain. "Manager Zhang told you to get lost, so you should. This place is for high-end clients, not for beggars like you."

"Heh. What goes around comes around. I hope you don’t regret this," Yang Qi sneered. It’s not like this is the only place to buy clothes. I don’t have to buy Armani, after all.

He turned and walked toward the Fan Sizhe boutique across the street.

"Idiot! You don’t belong in the Fan Sizhe boutique either! You can’t even pick the right place to shop," Zhang Ling shouted after him relentlessly. "Let me give you a suggestion: try the street stalls next door. You can get a whole outfit for a few dozen yuan. Hahahaha!"

Yang Qi ignored her mockery and walked straight into the Fan Sizhe boutique. Fortunately, no one stopped him here. It seems not all merchants are blind.

"Sir, what kind of clothes are you looking for? I can help you with some recommendations," a sales associate named Xiao Li said with a beaming smile.

Just as Yang Qi was about to speak, Lin Qingxuan walked in. She went straight to the sales associate, handed her a card, and declared, "We’ll take all the clothes here that suit him!"
