Chapter 206: Chapter 206: In the End, It Was a Mistaken Devotion

He picked up a box of toothpicks from the table.

Yang Qi casually flicked his hand, and the toothpicks instantly turned into darts.

WHIZZ! WHIZZ! WHIZZ! WHIZZ!

Dozens of men screamed as they collapsed, rolling on the ground and wailing nonstop. Don’t underestimate the small toothpicks. They were imbued with Yang Qi’s Spiritual Power, and their flight speed nearly rivaled that of bullets. While not fatal, getting hit by one was excruciatingly painful. Moreover, Yang Qi had targeted their acupoints to inflict even greater agony.

"Ah—it hurts so much!"

"Help!"

"It’s so painful!"

The onlookers were all shocked beyond belief.

The leader was so terrified he nearly wet himself, his earlier arrogance completely vanished. He looked at Yang Qi in terror. "Are you a Martial Artist? You’re actually a Martial Artist!"

"Cut the crap," Yang Qi sneered. "Is there anyone else? I’m giving you an opportunity today. Call whoever you want!"

He wanted to see just how rotten the Jade Hall had become.

"Brother Bao! Help! Our brothers are getting beaten up, hurry over!" the lead thug cried into his phone, bawling his eyes out.

Yang Qi frowned. Brother Bao? It couldn’t be Xiong Ba’s lackey, Ah Gou, could it?

He gave a cold laugh but didn’t make a move, instead turning to chat with Cao Zhendong about his recent situation.

"Sigh, don’t even get me started," Cao Zhendong sighed. "Fan Xiuran and Zou Shengrong, those two spineless bastards, joined the Kang City Commerce Alliance and leaked all the company’s technology. You were so good to them, and yet they became traitors! But I didn’t leak a single one of the company’s secrets. Even after they broke my legs, I kept my mouth shut!"

"You didn’t have to go that far," Yang Qi said. "I’d rather see you safe and sound! But thank you, Old Cao. I’m back in business now. From now on, you can keep following me. I’ll heal your legs, too!"

"Heh, heal my legs? Forget it. Once Brother Bao gets here, none of you will escape!" Manager Tao sneered. "You dared to hit me. If you can walk out of here in one piece today, I’ll admit defeat!"

Cao Zhendong’s face turned pale. "Boss Yang, this is bad. That Brother Bao is one of Xiong Ba’s men. He’s extremely ruthless, and I’ve heard he’s a trained fighter. We can’t afford to provoke him!"

"Is that so?" Yang Qi smiled. "I don’t care if he’s Brother Bao or Brother Tiger. When he gets here, he’ll be on his knees before me!"

Cao Zhendong gave a bitter smile. He had no idea what Yang Qi had been through in the past few months to become so confident and powerful. What exactly did he experience?

Soon, an imposing SUV pulled up.

"Brother Bao is here!" Manager Tao shouted excitedly.

A man got out of the vehicle. His clothes weren’t particularly lavish, but he exuded a terrifying aura. He was, without a doubt, a trained martial artist.

"Who dares cause trouble in Jade Hall? Are you looking for death?" Zhang Bao roared as he strode inside. A cold, terrifying presence burst forth, making the surrounding customers tremble.

Only then did Yang Qi remember that he had put Jade Hall under Xiong Ba’s management, since Xiong Ba had experience running restaurants like Heavenly Delicacies. Now that there was trouble at Jade Hall, it was only natural for Zhang Bao to show up.

"Brother Bao, it’s this kid!" Manager Tao pointed at Yang Qi, looking at him smugly as if to say, ’You’re finished, kid. No one can save you now.’

But the moment Zhang Bao saw Yang Qi, he dropped to his knees. "Mr... Mr. Yang!"

"Brother Bao, what are you doing?" the lead thug asked, not yet understanding the situation.

Before he could finish, Zhang Bao slapped him to the ground.

"Brother Bao, why did you hit me? What did I do wrong?" the thug leader cried out, feeling deeply wronged.

"What did you do wrong?" Zhang Bao was furious. How dare you offend Mr. Yang? Of all the people to antagonize, you had to pick him! You’re really asking for death! He’s the peerless master who just wiped out the Five Independents! And more importantly, he’s our benefactor! He knelt on the ground and apologized profusely. "Mr. Yang, I’ll take care of this kid! This is all my fault for not managing my subordinates properly. I can’t believe I let the flood wash over the Dragon King’s Temple. My deepest apologies!"

If Xiong Ba finds out about this, he’ll kill me for sure.

"Hold him down," Yang Qi said, pointing at Manager Tao.

"What are you waiting for!" Zhang Bao roared.

"Yes!" A few men scrambled to hold Manager Tao down.

Yang Qi turned to the customers. "My apologies, everyone. Today’s meal is on me. Please, if you would give us some space. Jade Hall is closing for the day!"

The customers, not wanting any trouble, quickly left.

Afterward, Yang Qi, his wife, and Zhang Bao closed the door.

He looked down at the kneeling Manager Tao and said coolly, "Speak. Who put you up to this, and why? Tell me every last detail. Otherwise, you really won’t be walking out of here today."

Li Qingyan frowned, thinking Yang Qi was being overly aggressive, but she held her tongue. She was also curious, however, as it was obvious Manager Tao was deliberately targeting Cao Zhendong.

Manager Tao’s eyes darted around. He forced a smile. "Sir, I really wasn’t targeting him. I was just angry he was trying to dine and dash, so I might have been a bit harsh!"

Yang Qi smiled. He suddenly took out a Silver Needle and stuck it into Manager Tao’s body.

The next moment, Manager Tao let out a bloodcurdling scream, writhing in agony.

"That needle hit one of your pain acupoints," Yang Qi said contemptuously. "One needle is already like this. A second will double the pain. How long do you think you can last? Don’t try to be clever with me. You can’t bluff your way out of this."

"I’ll talk! I’ll tell you everything!" After three needles, Manager Tao was on the verge of a total breakdown.

He confessed everything. It turned out he had been bribed by Fan Xiuran. The meal had been for Fan Xiuran and Cao Zhendong’s wife, Hao Ziyun. The entire situation was a trap to use the unpaid bill to force Cao Zhendong to hand over the technology from Yang Qi’s former company.

If Yang Qi hadn’t intervened, Cao Zhendong would have been utterly ruined today.

"The truth is, your wife has been involved with Fan Xiuran for a long time," Manager Tao said, his head lowered. "She even came here with Zou Shengrong. You were the only one kept in the dark!"

"Alright, you can get lost," Yang Qi said, waving his hand dismissively. "I won’t kill you today, but I don’t want to see your face in Kang City ever again. The farther you run, the better. If I see you again, you will die!"

Manager Tao was thrown out.

Yang Qi sighed. He hadn’t expected Cao Zhendong to have it even worse than he did.

"Actually... I knew," Cao Zhendong said with a sigh. "I just didn’t have the courage to admit it. I thought that if I poured my heart out for her, she would eventually come around. All these years, I gave her every penny I had just to show her my sincerity. But in the end, it was all for nothing."
