Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Quack Doctor? Divine Doctor?

Most of Qin Fen’s students, while not quite on par with Wu Feng, the Deputy Commander of the Heavenly Supervision Hall, were not far behind him. For this group to gather for Qin Tian’s funeral would be a terrifying display of power. This was no simple funeral; it was a demonstration of the Qin Family’s might. The stronger they appeared, the more likely the powerful families of Jingzhou would choose to collaborate with them, and the more benefits they would gain.

「That night.」

Qin Lan, his wife, and the senior members of the Qin Family arrived outside the Lin Family estate and knelt, seeking forgiveness.

Lin Qingxuan’s expression was grim. First, Qin Na had been struck by a car, and then she and Yang Qi had faced their own life-threatening incident. Given her temperament, she would have ordinarily destroyed the Qin Family by now. If apologies were useful, what would be the need for force?

"Let them kneel," Lin Qingxuan said coldly.

Ultimately, she chose not to act. She had promised Yang Qi she would leave the Qin Family for him to deal with, to use as a practice target. With Qin Tian now dead, she felt a small sense of revenge, which brought her some relief.

And so, Qin Lan and the others knelt outside for three days and three nights. Only then did Zhong Qiang convey Lin Qingxuan’s order. "Get lost. Our young lady has said she won’t lay a hand on the Qin Family."

Upon hearing this, the members of the Qin Family nearly collapsed from sheer relief. The fear had almost killed them. Although three days and nights without food or drink had left them all feeling close to death, it had all been worth it.

Soon, the members of the Qin Family were sent to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Qin Tian’s body was preserved by special means. Qin Fen intended to use his grandson’s funeral to flaunt the Qin Family’s power, so he couldn’t let the body decompose. The funeral was scheduled for seven days later, giving the students from out of town plenty of time to arrive.

「In the living room.」

Lin Qingxuan was drinking the medicinal soup Yang Qi had prepared. Assistant Qin was already able to get out of bed and walk around. Thanks to Zhong Qiang’s diligent care over the past few days and Yang Qi’s Elixirs, he had recovered with remarkable speed.

"By the way, Yang Qi, are you going to Qin Tian’s funeral?" Lin Qingxuan suddenly asked.

"Of course, I am," Yang Qi said coldly. "Qin Tian’s death alone isn’t enough to atone for the entire Qin Family’s sins. My company’s bankruptcy, Zhang Xiaoduo’s death, and the deaths of many of my employees are all tied to them. I will not let them go! I will give them a grand gift, one that lets them truly experience the miseries of this world!"

"I see," Lin Qingxuan nodded. "Also, I have the information you asked me to investigate. After your company went bankrupt, a portion of the technology was taken by the Zhang Family, and another portion by the Qin Family. However, the majority of it vanished without a trace. Strangely, products using that technology have since appeared on the market."

"So that means, besides the Zhang and Qin Families, there was someone else who coveted my company and made a move in the shadows," Yang Qi said, frowning.

He hadn’t expected the situation to be so complicated. In the past, he was just an ordinary pharmaceutical expert who knew nothing of these dirty, underhanded schemes. But now, he was more mature and much stronger. He would find his enemies, one by one, and deal with them. Of course, to do that, he had to become even stronger. No matter how terrifying his opponents were, he was no longer afraid. With the Dragon God Technique, he was sure he could grow rapidly. He was filled with anticipation for the future.

"Thank you. But I’ll have to trouble you to keep investigating. I’ll be looking into it on my own as well," Yang Qi said, a little embarrassed.

"There’s no need for thanks between us," Lin Qingxuan said with a smile.

The two chatted for a while longer before Yang Qi left for his National Medicine Clinic.

The National Medicine Clinic wasn’t just for treating patients; more importantly, it was a way for him to enhance his cultivation. Right now, he lacked the quality materials needed for Elixirs, and antiques imbued with spiritual energy weren’t easy to find. He could only take it one step at a time.

Today was the grand opening of the National Medicine Clinic, but the place was empty. Bored, with no patients to see, Yang Qi rested his head on the table and dozed off.

Just then, an old woman holding a six or seven-year-old child walked in. Yang Qi instantly sat up, his attention on her.

However, the moment the old woman saw how young Yang Qi was, she turned to leave. Common sense dictated that a doctor of National Medicine required years of experience. She instinctively distrusted someone so young and refused to let him treat her grandson. Conveniently, there was another clinic just across the street, and she hurried over with the child in her arms.

Yang Qi sighed and laid his head back down to sleep. So much for a good service selling itself. Without some advertising, this is never going to work. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"AAAH—! MY GRANDSON! MY GRANDSON!"

Suddenly, a scream tore through the air from the clinic across the street.

Yang Qi leaped to his feet. Although he disliked making unsolicited house calls, his kind heart couldn’t bear to watch someone die. He rushed over immediately.

Inside the other clinic, the doctor’s face was a mask of anxiety. Blood was oozing from the child’s mouth, and the situation looked critical.

"What have you done?" Yang Qi demanded angrily.

"I... I didn’t do anything!" the doctor stammered. "I saw the child was lethargic, so I gave him some medicine to restore his spirit. Who knew this would happen after he took it? Really, it’s not my fault!"

"You quack!" Yang Qi cursed. "You prescribed medicine without even properly diagnosing the symptoms? If you can’t treat someone, just say so! Don’t you know that prescribing the wrong medication can be fatal?"

"Ma’am, bring the patient over to my clinic. I can help," Yang Qi said to the old woman.

"I think you’re just as unreliable as he is!" the old woman retorted, her temper flaring. "You’re so young, you look like you just graduated! If he couldn’t help, what could you possibly do?" With that, she dialed for an ambulance.

Yang Qi just shook his head and said nothing. Sometimes that’s just how it is. You know you can save someone, but they refuse to believe you. He didn’t press the issue. As long as they get him to a hospital, he probably won’t die.

He returned to his clinic and went back to sleep.

Unexpectedly, just an hour later, a car screeched to a halt in front of Yang Qi’s clinic. A middle-aged man and the same old woman from before got out, the child still cradled in her arms.

"That’s him! He’s the one who said he could save the child!" the old woman exclaimed, pointing at Yang Qi.

Yang Qi coldly responded, "This morning, I was completely confident I could cure him. But an hour has passed and he’s been put through all this. Now, I only have a fifty percent chance."

"Master! Master, I was wrong this morning! Please, take a look at my grandson! We’re talking about a human life here!" the old woman cried, dropping to her knees on the ground.

She was crying her heart out.

Yang Qi sighed. He couldn’t bear to see people cry. It’s heartbreaking to watch.
