Chapter 556: Chapter 188: Dragon Claws

Sun Mulin finally emerged from the sandbox. By the time he cleaned himself up, it was already past 4 PM. Just as he finished, Ke Xing arrived with his two grandsons, and the four met in the courtyard.

"Oh! Yiyi and Er Er are back?" Sun Mulin, having played all afternoon, felt a bit fatigued. Rubbing his temples, he looked at Ke Xing and the children, his gaze primarily on Yiyi and Er Er, "Come over and give Uncle a hug."

Yiyi and Er Er nestled in Ke Xing’s arms. They had spent the entire day playing with aristocratic family children, without taking a nap, so their little heads were nodding off in drowsiness. Even seeing Sun Mulin made them happy, Yiyi and Er Er didn’t have the energy to play with him.

Sun Mulin shrugged helplessly. He liked the two children and wanted to play with them, but as an uncle, he couldn’t force them to muster spirit when they were tired.

Sun Mulin leaned sideways and took the slightly heavier Yiyi from Ke Xing, who had just approached, relieving Ke Xing, who had been carrying the children for a while.

Though his work was busy, and he didn’t spend much time with Yiyi and Er Er, he understood how attached they were to Ke Xing. Especially when not at home, if they felt sleepy, they dared not sleep in an unfamiliar environment, but Ke Xing’s arms were a safe haven.

Although the hovercar was used for transport, Ke Xing must have been holding them the entire way. Sun Mulin glanced at Ke Xing’s slightly wrinkled clothes with this thought.

In the living room, Du Xixi sat on the sofa watching a movie, a military film starring Sun Mulin. The immersion was strong, and even someone like Du Xixi, who knew little about the military, felt they gained some understanding of the battlefield.

"Where’s Ah Lan?" Ke Xing asked Du Xixi.

Dinner was about to start, and it wasn’t suitable for Yiyi and Er Er to sleep just yet, so Sun Mulin and Ke Xing placed the two children on the sofa, telling them to play with toys for a moment to refresh themselves.

"He went to the study. He received an urgent military task to handle," Du Xixi replied, pausing the movie reluctantly as it was nearing its end to answer Ke Xing, who had sat down beside her.

Given Ke Lian’s status, any military task requiring urgent handling couldn’t be trivial, though Du Xixi obviously didn’t know the details, and Ke Xing didn’t ask further. He drank half a cup of tea, relaxing against the soft sofa back.

"Isn’t this the film I shot when I first debuted?" Sun Mulin, familiar with each of his works, carefully looked at the screen where a bleeding bare foot appeared, "I recall this scene was added suddenly during filming because I fell and bled quite a bit. The script team thought a bleeding foot for a soldier barely surviving on the battlefield made the plot more realistic."

Du Xixi wasn’t concerned about why the foot appeared; her focus was on the words "first debuted" from Sun Mulin. She looked at him in surprise, somewhat incredulous but truly admiring, and asked, "Your acting was this good when you first debuted? I thought it was something you filmed in recent years."

"Yeah, that was my first film, and it can be considered my breakout work." Sun Mulin didn’t find it surprising. He initially joined the entertainment industry because he believed he had some talent.

Otherwise, how could he, from a family of scholars with no prior exposure to the entertainment world, compete with those already somewhat familiar with it?

Though he also took the exam for the best film academy in the Blue Star Empire, he decided to apply on a whim. Most other students had been working towards it since childhood, or had family with entertainment industry ties.

Du Xixi, though unfamiliar with the industry, knew that most performing arts newcomers struggled initially due to lack of experience. Even highly talented actors only showed potential early on, needing rigorous effort later for competent works.

But Sun Mulin wasn’t among this "majority." Du Xixi, having watched some films and series out of boredom, believed his initial acting skills were enough to place him among the top in a pool of new actors.

Du Xixi clicked her tongue softly, expressing, "You really are born to be in the entertainment industry."
