My Harem of Dangerous and Crazy Women as a Reincarnated Necromancer-Chapter 55: The Strangest Berserker of All Times
Then Mark’s ability activated almost on instinct, and that familiar sensation of energy flowing from his core to his fingertips, like a warm electric current running up his entire arm.
[Successful Summoning]
Name: Alice Valthyra
Status: Undead (Partial)
Loyalty: Absolute
Class: Cleric
[Statistics]
Faith: 9,999
Self-Enhancement Miracles: 9,999
Offensive Miracles: 9,999
Strength: 10
Endurance: 10
Mark read through the stats one by one, then read them again.
And then a third time just to make sure he wasn’t hallucinating.
’...This has to be a joke.’
Reading her strength and endurance stats, he noticed they were absurdly low.
But what really caught his attention was her specialization.
Self-enhancement, meaning this woman wasn’t strong just because. She was strong because she literally used her miracles to push her own body beyond the limits of a normal human.
’No wonder she fought like a berserker... it’s not that she ignored her cleric class, it’s that she adapted it to punch people in the face.’
And then there were the offensive miracles.
Mark let out a short laugh that sounded more like disbelief than amusement.
"So her name is Alice..." he murmured, reading the name aloud.
"Alice?" Rose repeated, stepping a little closer. "That’s her name?"
"Yes... Alice, apparently, is a cleric specialized in physical enhancement and offensive miracles." Mark shook his head slowly. "Basically she’s a nun who decided that God’s job was to forgive sinners, and hers was to send them His way."
Mark looked carefully at the state of Alice’s body again as the energy from Awakening kept flowing.
This was worse than he’d thought.
The cut on her left side was deep — deep enough to see exposed muscle.
Her right shoulder was dislocated, and she had burns of varying severity on her arms and part of her torso.
And that was without counting the new wounds Yuki had inflicted during their fight.
’It’s a miracle she was still standing... literally — her enhancement miracles must have been keeping her moving despite all this damage. Without them, she probably would have collapsed long before reaching the first floor.’
That explained a lot.
The reason Alice could fight as if she had no wounds wasn’t because she didn’t feel them, but because her miracles were compensating for the damage by forcing her body to function beyond its limits.
Which was not only impressive but also fairly terrifying.
"Master, do any of your other subordinates heal or provide support? Because I think she’s going to need someone who can restore her body..." Rose said, looking over at Alice’s body.
"Yes, I have one who’s a support."
"And where is she?"
"She stayed back at my base."
"I see..." Rose said, nodding slowly.
Once he finished talking with Rose, Mark focused on the next phase, modifying Alice’s memories.
He paused for a moment before making any changes, but his hesitation didn’t last long because this time he knew exactly what to do.
Mark had already decided to do the same as he had with Rose, only modifying her loyalty and her feelings, leaving everything else intact.
Rose, unlike the others, could look him in the face and tell him his plan was stupid and force him to reconsider an impulsive decision that could have gotten them all killed.
So in Mark’s eyes, Rose had probably saved his life with those words.
’If I had pushed forward without the others... and we had run into Alice on the lower floors, with her in full fighting shape,’ Mark didn’t want to finish imagining that hypothetical scenario.
If Mark surrounded himself with people who flattered him and never questioned anything he did, no matter how strong they were, it would only lead him to end up in situations like the one that had just occurred.
But now Mark was aware that he needed more voices like Rose’s.
People who would tell him when he was being an idiot without him having to worry about their loyalty.
’Alright, it’s decided, minimal modification, same as with Rose.’
Mark decided not to touch her personality, her memories, or even her name.
"Mark is your Master, your loyalty to him is unquestionable and you love him unconditionally."
Mark confirmed the changes and let Awakening complete the process.
The energy flowed from his hands into Alice’s body.
And...
Nothing happened.
Mark waited.
Five seconds. Ten. Fifteen.
But Alice’s body remained still.
No breathing, no movement, no sign that the ability was working.
"Master?" Rose stepped closer, frowning at the body. "Are you sure you activated the spell?"
"Yes, I activated it," Mark replied, not hiding the confusion in his voice. "This... this has never happened before."
’Did I do something wrong?’
Mark mentally reviewed the process. The energy had flowed correctly.
The stats interface had appeared.
The Consciousness Modification had been applied without errors.
Everything seemed to be in order.
But Alice wasn’t waking up.
"Everyone I’ve revived before woke up almost immediately," Mark murmured, more to himself than to the others. "Ely, Yuki, Aria, the five from a moment ago... none of them took more than a few seconds."
"Maybe it’s because of the state her body is in?" Rose suggested, kneeling beside Mark to examine the body more closely. "She’s considerably more damaged than any normal corpse, so maybe the spell needs more time to finish taking effect."
’Could that be it?’ Mark wondered, equally confused.
He looked at Alice’s wrecked body.
She was, by far, the most damaged corpse Mark had ever tried to revive.
"Maybe Awakening needed more time to reactivate a body with that much accumulated damage, or maybe the ability was working but the process was slower because there was more to repair before—"
But then Alice’s eyes snapped open and Mark instinctively lurched backward.
Those green eyes, which minutes ago had been blank and empty, now burned with life.
Alice drew in a breath so violent it sounded like someone had started an engine, and jolted upright into a sitting position on the floor.
Rose stepped back, and Yuki already had her daggers in her hands.
Even the five new subordinates rose to their feet immediately, ready to protect their Master.
But contrary to what everyone expected, Alice didn’t attack.
Instead, her eyes swept the hall for a fraction of a second until they landed on Mark.
And then, without saying a word, she knelt.
Her right knee touched the floor, her head bowed forward, and her right fist came to rest on her chest in a gesture that looked more military than religious.
"My lord... I apologize for my disrespect from a moment ago," Alice said, in a firm, clear tone.
"Uh... don’t worry about it, you can stand up."
"As you command, my lord," Alice replied, rising sharply to her feet.
But standing up so abruptly caused her wounds to burst open, sending streams of blood flowing freely.
"...I think we should hurry back home so Aria can treat her wounds."
