My Happy Daily Life After Being Reborn-Chapter 334 - 36 Hiring a Nanny_2
Chapter 334: Chapter 36 Hiring a Nanny_2
Lin Xiaoguai hesitated upon hearing this—it wasn’t that she didn’t trust her brother-in-law, but...
"Your friend... they aren’t one of those people who are bitter about the world, are they?" Given her experiences, it was no wonder she harbored such doubts.
She really wasn’t in the mood to provide psychological counseling.
"Don’t worry, Yu Shu is actually quite naive; he’s oblivious to anything non-research-related. The emotion of being bitter about the world is too complex for him," Cheng Jiahui sighed somewhat helplessly. "After his parents had four daughters, they finally had Yu Shu. Hence, the whole family dotes on him as if he’s their treasure. Consequently, he didn’t become selfish or willful; instead, he’s extremely introverted. He blushes even speaking to girls and is terrible at socializing, which is why he ended up being framed in the first place."
"So he isn’t one of those people who are knowledgeable in research but clueless about practical things?" Lin Xiaoguai asked worriedly.
"No," Cheng Jiahui replied. "He’s shy. Although he was capable of having others do work at the agricultural research department, he did the work himself because he was too embarrassed to order them around. After a few years, even if he didn’t gain much else, his body became fit."
Also, because he didn’t mingle much, others perceived him as a clean slate, which eventually led to him being framed and returning to his hometown in a dejected state.
"Then let him try," Lin Xiaoguai decided after some thought.
She should give Cheng Jiahui this courtesy, and the man in question didn’t seem unreliable; there was no need to worry about being betrayed in this matter.
"Good, I’ll call him when I get back," Cheng Jiahui said with a smile.
When they got home, the quadruplets were playing in the backyard. Little Sun was rolling on the lawn, Sisi was lounging on a swing chair playing with a Rubik’s cube, Little Spring Breeze and Qiaoqiao were playfully sliding down the slide, and Little Niangao was beside them, lifting them up again and again, his forehead already slick with a fine sweat.
Lin Xiaoguai, watching with a pained heart, wiped his sweat while scolding the two little ones: "Can’t you see your brother is tired?"
"Yiya..." Little Spring Breeze and Qiaoqiao, obviously too young to understand, continued giggling adorably with their chubby faces, excitedly pointing at the slide.
Their intention was very clear.
"Climb up yourselves," Lin Xiaoguai flicked their foreheads lightly.
There were two slides in the backyard, one suitable for bigger kids and an inflatable one for Qiaoqiao and the others. Even if Little Spring Breeze and his siblings couldn’t walk yet, the inflatable slide had a ring around it to cushion any falls.
These two little ones knew how to be lazy; not climbing themselves, they had Little Niangao do the hard work.
"Mom, I’m okay," Shen Yinian assured her, wrapping his arm around hers.
Unlike their parents, who favored the well-behaved Sisi and Little Sun, he preferred his livelier younger siblings, finding them more entertaining.
Unaware of her eldest son’s thoughts, Lin Xiaoguai patted his shoulder: "You’ve sweated so much, go take a bath."
Shen Yinian smiled and went into the house to bathe.
"The house is so busy, I think we should hire two housekeepers," Shen Chi suddenly revisited an old discussion after dinner.
Nowadays, the whole family was busy working on the farm during the day, and Luo Yufang was the only one taking care of the house. Besides cooking and cleaning, she also had to look after several little ones, which could be overwhelming.
Lin Xiaoguai also recognized the situation and hesitated, unsure how to decide.
"No need, no need, I can manage," Luo Yufang quickly interjected. "It’s just busy for now; things will settle down soon."
Shen Chi shook his head, "It’s only going to get busier. Wanwan’s shop is going to open, and there’s a lot to manage with the farm. Once the produce is ready, there’s the shipping."
Lin Xiaoguai thought it over and said, "Let’s hire two housekeepers, but grandma should still look after them. The housekeepers can handle the cooking and cleaning. I don’t trust outsiders with the kids."
She somewhat regretted it now; if she had known, she would have delayed starting the farm for a couple more years. She couldn’t devote as much attention to the quadruplets as she had to Little Niangao before.
Hearing the initial part, Luo Yufang felt displeased, but the latter part reassured her, and she frowned slightly. "Wanwan’s suggestion is fine, but where do we find such housekeepers? We can’t just hire unknown outsiders."
She thought to herself that her granddaughter-in-law indeed trusted her, otherwise she wouldn’t have specified the childcare.
Shen Chi fell silent; he realized that Wanwan’s words seemed to carry more weight with grandma than his own?
She was adamant against hiring housekeepers moments ago, but changed her mind as soon as Wanwan mentioned it.
"Don’t worry about that, there are always some cases in the military of soldiers who sacrifice themselves, leaving behind widows and children with no support. I’ll investigate and pick two whose circumstances and character check out," Shen Chi responded.
Lin Xiaoguai thought it over and said, "Try to find those without children, in their thirties or forties. Since we are hiring housekeepers, it’ll certainly be long-term, and they will be living with us. It’s better to find someone without attachments who won’t remarry; it’ll save us trouble later on."
She paused, "As long as they are diligent in their work, when they get older, we can take care of their retirement."
She thought to herself that eventual employers were expected to pay for their employees’ pensions anyway, so as long as they were dedicated to her family, she really didn’t mind the expense.
Luo Yufang wanted to protest, thinking it might be a loss, but then reconsidered, pitying the women who had no children and had lost their husbands; she agreed to the retirement plan, especially since her grandson and granddaughter-in-law were capable earners.
