My Happy Daily Life After Being Reborn-Chapter 285 - 12 Pregnancy Again
Chapter 285: Chapter 12 Pregnancy Again
"Ugh, ugh..." Lin Xiaoguai leaned over the toilet, vomiting everything she had just eaten.
Shen Chi gently patted her back, anxiously asking, "Wanwan, how are you feeling?"
"Terrible..." Lin Xiaoguai said, her face scrunched in discomfort, feeling somewhat lethargic.
Shen Chi helped her to her feet, took a cup from the washbasin, and filled it with water for her to rinse her mouth, then half carried, half supported her out of the room.
"Little Aunt, are you still feeling sick? I have some sour plums; do you want some?" Han Xinyu, who was already a mature young lady of fourteen, seemed even more like a little adult.
Lin Xiaoguai shook her head, about to speak, when Zheng Cuicui interjected, "Wanwan, you couldn’t be pregnant, could you?"
As these words were spoken, everyone present paused, and Shen Chi suddenly turned his head to look at Lin Xiaoguai.
Ever since Wanwan graduated, they had stopped using birth control. Though he had hoped, in the past two months, that Wanwan could be pregnant, her period had always come on time, and he gradually learned to accept it.
Shen Chi quickly froze again, as the trace of surprise on his face faded, shaking his head, he said, "No, that’s not right, today’s the twenty-sixth, Wanwan had her period on the third."
He spoke frankly, but Han Shouxin at his side felt a bit awkward, coughing twice before turning his head.
Lin Xiaoguai, too, was somewhat embarrassed but agreed with Shen Chi, nodding and saying, "That’s right, it shouldn’t be pregnancy."
Upon hearing this, Zheng Cuicui frowned. "Even if it’s not pregnancy, you should still go to the hospital to get checked. There might be something wrong with your stomach. Motion sickness wouldn’t be this severe."
Although Zheng Cuicui was a gentle and approachable person, she was also a skilled thoracic surgeon. Her advice carried weight, and without objection, they took Lin Xiaoguai to the military region hospital.
Given that Lin Xiaoguai currently couldn’t ride in a car, it was still Shen Chi who took her to the hospital by bicycle.
At the hospital, upon Zheng Cuicui’s insistence, Lin Xiaoguai first went to the obstetrics and gynecology department for a blood test. As they were about to move on to the gastroenterology department, the lab’s efficiency was maximized due to the influence of Han Shouxin and Shen Chi’s statuses, and the results came out.
"How is this possible?" Lin Xiaoguai stared at the test report in her hands, shocked. She had been pregnant before and knew all too well what the hCG levels and progesterone levels indicated.
"Could there have been a mistake?" she asked the obstetrician incredulously. "I’ve just had my period this month; how could I be pregnant?"
The middle-aged female obstetrician was surprised as well but still said, "The test results aren’t wrong. However, considering how low those two indexes are, Mrs. Lin, you haven’t been pregnant for long, probably not more than two weeks."
Lin Xiaoguai was somewhat stunned, but Shen Chi was the first to react, his joy mingled with worry as he asked, "Doctor, is my wife’s pregnancy not a good one? Otherwise, why would she experience morning sickness so early?"
"Morning sickness is not related to how stable the pregnancy is; it’s more about personal constitution. It should be fine as long as there is no spotting," the doctor replied.
Shen Chi remained worried; after all, Wanwan’s previous pregnancy had been difficult, and she hadn’t experienced such severe vomiting then.
On the way back, Lin Xiaoguai touched her stomach, still in disbelief. Her mindset was the same as Shen Chi’s. At first, they had been particularly mindful when they stopped using birth control. Just as they had adjusted their attitudes, they were informed of the pregnancy, leaving them bemused amidst their happiness.
Shen Chi alternated between happiness and worry, fearing that this pregnancy might lead to complications for his wife.
"What are you guys planning to do?" Back at Han Shouxin’s home, Zheng Cuicui could no longer hold back and asked.
"What?" Both Shen Chi and Lin Xiaoguai were puzzled by the question.
Zheng Cuicui glared at them disapprovingly, "Are you actually planning on having the baby? Do you think the family planning policy is just for show? If you have a second child, does Shen Chi still plan on working at the Military Department?"
Han Shouxin also nodded, "Our Han family may be prominent in the Capital, but acting against the policy carries even greater risk; the consequences would be far more severe."
"And..." Zheng Cuicui looked at Lin Xiaoguai, "why don’t you have an IUD? After having one child, the family planning office usually enforces it."
Lin Xiaoguai weakly responded, "My residence was registered in the countryside while I lived in the county town; the village family planning official couldn’t find me. Later, when I moved my residence to the Capital with my school, no one cared anymore."
Zheng Cuicui said with a headache, "Great, now you see? Abortion is harmful to your health. Everything has been fine for years; how did you suddenly slip up?"
