Chapter 333: Chapter 333

"Do you think," Satou said slowly, his voice carrying a dangerous edge, "I was fighting you seriously all this while?"

Richard’s multiple forms all shifted slightly, confusion evident across all the overlapping faces. "What—"

And then everything changed.

Satou’s aura exploded outward like a bomb detonating, like a star going supernova, like reality itself had decided to start screaming.

The shadows around him didn’t just deepen—they erupted, they exploded, they began to writhe and pulse and undulate like thousands of serpents made of pure darkness, each one radiating hunger and malevolence and killing intent so thick it was almost physical.

His eyes, which had been glowing with predatory intensity, suddenly intensified a hundredfold—no longer just glowing but blazing, burning with light like twin crimson stars, like the eyes of something ancient and terrible that existed before light itself was invented, like the final sight prey animals saw before death claimed them.

The temperature dropped. Not gradually—instantly. Like someone had opened a door to the frozen void of space. Frost formed on every surface within a twenty-foot radius, spreading outward in crystalline patterns that looked almost beautiful if they weren’t a herald of death. The remaining intact windows cracked from the sudden thermal stress, glass groaning under pressure it wasn’t designed to withstand.

The air became heavy, oppressive, crushing—making it physically difficult to breathe, like the atmosphere had suddenly gained the density of water. Even Richard, with his three centuries of experience surviving impossible situations and his current temporal enhancement making him faster and stronger than he’d ever been, felt something he genuinely hadn’t felt in decades.

Primal fear. The kind of fear that existed below conscious thought, that bypassed rational analysis, that spoke directly to the hindbrain’s survival instincts and said: RUN. HIDE. PREY.

Even the stone floor beneath Satou’s feet developed hairline fractures radiating outward in perfect circles, spreading like frozen ripples in a pond, the ancient masonry unable to withstand the sheer pressure of his presence.

"BLOODLUST FORM—ACTIVATE!"

The transformation was immediate, overwhelming, and absolutely terrifying to anyone with the sense to recognize what they were witnessing.

Satou’s presence became crushing, suffocating, all-consuming. The predatory aura , his instinctive dominance that marked him as apex predators, the supernatural authority that made lesser creatures submit or flee—amplified a hundredfold, a thousandfold, until it became something that transcended mere presence and became an actual physical force.

His draconic presence merged with his terror aura, two legendary-tier abilities combining and resonating, creating a synergistic effect where the whole was greater than the sum of its parts. The combined presence made reality itself seem to recoil, made the laws of physics hesitate, made the ambient magical energy in the air start vibrating at frequencies that shouldn’t exist.

Distant sounds of the city suddenly stopped. Birds stopped singing. Dogs stopped barking. People in nearby streets suddenly felt overwhelming dread without knowing why, their survival instincts telling them to go inside, lock their doors, hide.

"You wanted to see me serious?" Satou’s voice carried an edge that hadn’t been there before—a quality that bypassed rational thought entirely and spoke directly to the most primitive parts of the brain, the parts that had evolved to recognize when something higher on the food chain was nearby. "You wanted me to stop holding back? You wanted to force me to use my full power?"

His voice dropped to barely above a whisper, but somehow it carried more menace than any shout.

"Let me show you what happens when I stop treating you like a worthy opponent and start treating you like prey."

Dark red energy erupted around him like crimson lightning, like reality itself was bleeding, like the boundaries between the physical world and whatever dimension contained pure violence had temporarily dissolved.

"BERSERK AURA—MAXIMUM OUTPUT!"

The energy mixed with the shadows, creating an effect that looked like the air itself was on fire with black flames edged in blood-red lightning. It crackled and sparked, creating a corona of power around Satou that made him look less like a warrior and more like a natural disaster given form and purpose.

But this wasn’t mindless rage. This wasn’t berserker fury that sacrificed control for power. Satou’s eyes remained focused, calculating, perfectly aware. His stance remained controlled, balanced, optimal for explosive movement.

This was controlled berserker state—all the benefits of mindless fury with none of the drawbacks. Pure killing intent and overwhelming aggression focused through perfect tactical awareness and three centuries of accumulated combat expertise.

The ultimate combination of power and control.

He moved.

"SHADOW STEP!"

Satou didn’t just move—he vanished, ceased to exist in one location and manifested in another with no transition between, moving faster than he’d been fighting before, faster than Richard had seen in their entire battle.

He reappeared at Richard’s left side, having crossed fifteen feet in less time than it took to blink. His blade was already in motion, already committed to the strike.

"SHADOW BLADE—VOID FANG ENHANCEMENT!"

The blade manifested mid-swing, void energy blazing along its edge like black fire, creating that characteristic shimmer where reality became uncertain about whether the blade existed or not.

Richard, with his five-second foresight, had known this was coming. He’d seen Satou activate Bloodlust Form five seconds ago. He’d known exactly where Satou would Shadow Step to. He’d known the exact angle the blade would come from, the exact speed of the swing, the exact moment it would reach his position.

He stepped aside casually, his temporal acceleration giving him what felt like infinite time to react. The blade missed him by a comfortable two feet—close enough that he could feel the void energy’s pull, but far enough that there was no actual danger.

"I told you," Richard said, his multiple voices creating that eerie chorus effect, "I see everything five seconds before it happens. Even with your enhanced speed, even with Bloodlust Form active, you’re still moving in slow motion from my perspective. You can’t—"

"SHADOW STEP!"

Satou vanished mid-sentence and reappeared behind Richard, another slash coming from a completely different angle.

Author Note:
