My five ghostly husbands-Chapter 300 Seriousness
Chapter 300: Chapter 300 Seriousness
So they left the bag section and continued exploring the rest of the market, now with a new goal—finding something that Karl and Adrian would like.
As they passed another stall, Ruby slowed down, her eyes catching on a strange but interesting object.
It was a hand-carved wooden comb set with initials burned onto the back—a place to customize it. "Karl might like this," she said thoughtfully, picking it up.
Julian looked at it, then smiled. "Yeah... he keeps groaning about his hair lately. He’ll probably say this comb makes his hair shinier."
"And yell at Milo for touching it," Ruby added with a laugh.
They kept walking, now more relaxed, their conversation filled with small jokes and ideas. For Adrian, they stopped at a stone-carving stall where polished black stones with calming energy were crafted into keychains and paperweights.
"This," Julian said, holding up a clean, square-shaped black stone with a silver charm dangling off it. "It’s quiet. Strong. Minimal. This is very brother adi."
Ruby smiled warmly. "Yeah, he’ll probably keep it on his work desk and pretend he doesn’t care but won’t let anyone touch it."
They shared a chuckle, and for a moment, the stress of the trip melted away.
After shopping, Julian and Ruby’s mood had lifted. The cheerful colors of the market, the fresh air, and the small handmade gifts had worked their charm. Back at the inn, Ruby carefully placed the souvenirs and gift bags inside the car, locking them away safely since they wouldn’t need them just yet. Then the two returned to their room.
They freshened up quietly—Ruby changed into something more comfortable while Julian took a quick shower. It was around 4 PM when Ruby finally sat down on the edge of the bed, stretching her arms and letting out a soft sigh. She was tired, but she knew better than to nap now. If she did, she’d be up all night.
Julian was drying his hair with a towel when Ruby’s phone suddenly rang. Both of them paused.
Ruby picked it up quickly, hope flashing in her eyes. "Hello?"
"I’m sorry, wife... we didn’t pick up earlier," Milo said immediately from the other side. "The phone was with Brother Karl. He didn’t know how to pick it up," Milo added, clearly irritated—his tone sharp as he glared at Karl beside him. "So when he was trying to answer, he just kept pressing the wrong button and declining it."
On the other side, Karl bit his lower lip awkwardly and looked away, quietly guilty.
Ruby sighed, "It’s okay, Milo. Just make sure to teach him. We both got worried."
"Okay, wife! Me and Brother Adi know how to pick now," Milo said proudly. "I’ll teach Brother Karl too, even if he acts like he knows everything."
"I WILL LEARN AFTER SEEING, OKAY!" Karl suddenly shouted from the background, clearly embarrassed and defensive after being blamed for not picking up the call earlier.
Ruby held back a laugh and smiled, shaking her head. "Alright... we got it, Milo," she said gently. "How are you doing at home?"
"Everything is going fine, wife!" Milo said cheerfully, his voice full of pride. "I made food today and even cleaned up a little... and I also did some work!" he added happily like a little kid reporting his school day.
"Oh? Then what did Karl do?" Ruby asked with a teasing tone, already guessing the answer. Her eyes twinkled knowingly as she exchanged a glance with Julian, who also smiled helplessly beside her.
"Oh... he-he..." Milo suddenly paused. He didn’t know what to say. There was an awkward silence on the call, and Ruby could almost picture him looking at Karl in panic, unsure how to cover for him.
"I wash dishes!" Karl yelled from the background again, as if that was his grand achievement of the day.
"Yes, yes, wife... he always washes dishes!" Milo quickly nodded with a serious voice, clearly trying to protect his brother.
"You don’t sound convincing, Milo..." Ruby chuckled softly, leaning back on the bed with a smile. "Don’t lie to me. I know he’s being lazy. Tell him, if he continues like this, he’s going to become fat! I’m serious!"
And right after that, they both heard Karl’s dramatic gasp from the background—"I’M NOT GOING TO GET FAT!!!"
Julian burst out laughing beside Ruby, and even Milo started giggling. The room filled with warmth and laughter as Ruby smiled to herself, feeling her heart lighten. Even far away, they were still a family full of chaos and comfort.
"Haha... okay, Milo and Karl, listen to me carefully and tell Adrian too..." Ruby’s voice turned serious, her soft laughter fading as she leaned forward a bit, holding the phone closer. Her tone changed, and even Julian beside her noticed, glancing over quietly as she spoke.
On the other side, Karl and Milo looked at each other. Milo nodded quickly, and Karl straightened his back like he was getting ready for some life lecture.
"I know, Milo... you’re responsible, I trust you," Ruby said warmly, then her voice became firmer, "But Karl, you should be responsible too. You’re not a child anymore."
Karl pouted even though she couldn’t see, and Milo glanced at him awkwardly.
"We’re not at home right now," Ruby continued gently, "so someone might try to take advantage of you guys, especially since all three of you are alone. So always make sure the windows are locked, the doors are shut properly—double check them before sleeping, alright?"
Karl and Milo both nodded silently, feeling the seriousness through the phone.
"If you ever feel scared, don’t stay alone. Sleep together—the three of you, alright? And I don’t think I’ll return very soon... so if you ever run out of groceries, don’t go alone. Go to Angeline’s house, and take her husbands along if you need to get anything. You hear me?"
"Yes, wife..." Milo said quietly.
"And Karl," Ruby added again, her voice softer now, "you also shouldn’t stay alone. If you feel weird or lonely, go stay at Angeline’s house too. And thank her, properly, alright? She’s helping us a lot."
There was a long pause on the line, as the two absorbed every word and Ruby could feel the silence wasn’t ignorance, it was respect.
"I’ll make sure, wife," Milo said with a serious voice.
"Okay... I will too," Karl mumbled. freeweɓnøvel~com
Ruby smiled. "Good ghosts. I’ll bring gifts when I return, but only if you behave."
