My Five Bigshot Seniors: I am The Most Coddled Junior!-Chapter 457 - 137: [Second Update]
When Yue Zhao opened his eyes, he found himself above a lake, and his body was falling. Calm as he was, he was momentarily stunned but quickly stabilized his descending body. Looking around, he saw a large tree by the lake, his eyes lit up, and with a flick of his wrist, a rope appeared in his hand. He threw it out, wrapping it around the tree, and used its strength to fly towards the lakeshore.
Once he landed steadily on the ground, Yue Zhao let out a breath, put away the rope, and turned to look at the lake in front of him.
The lake before him appeared exceedingly calm, the water crystal clear, as if one could see right to the bottom. From his vantage point, he could see fish happily swimming about, a scene that made him unconsciously furrow his brow.
Earlier, while above the lake, though he hadn’t observed closely, he had noticed something beneath its surface. Now, standing beside the lake, he couldn’t see anything at all, making him more aware of the unusual nature of whatever lay at the lake’s bottom.
Of course, he could have simply left, as whatever was at the lake’s bottom had nothing to do with him. However, he stayed because of the few six-grade golden lotuses on the lake’s surface.
The six-grade golden lotus is a Celestial Rank seven-grade Spirit Flower, a rather rare herb. It is one of the main ingredients in refining the six-turn golden elixir, which has excellent healing effects, especially for external injuries. No matter how severe, even if it’s a severed hand or foot, as long as one takes the six-turn golden elixir within one hour, it can instantly heal and regrow the severed limbs!
The six-turn golden elixir is rare—Yue Zhao himself had never seen one before, mainly because the six-grade golden lotus is hard to find. He didn’t expect his luck to be so good, encountering it as soon as he entered the Secret Realm, and not just one lotus either.
What he saw just now was probably the Guardian Beast protecting the six-grade golden lotus. And to guard a six-grade golden lotus, at a minimum, the cultivation would be at the low-level Golden Immortal Realm, which was equivalent to his cultivation. If it was higher, it could even be at the high-level Golden Immortal Realm, posing a challenge for him.
Thus, he didn’t act rashly but moved around by the lake, wanting to carefully search for what the creature beneath the lake truly was.
However, what made him feel troubled was that after almost walking a full circle around the lake, he still found nothing under the lake. This led to two possibilities: the first being he had mistaken and there truly was nothing below, and the second being that the spirit beast underwater might use an Illusion Technique, and what he saw was merely the result of such a technique!
He tended to believe the truth leaned towards the second possibility, making it quite problematic.
With this in mind, he suddenly sat cross-legged beside the lake. The Flowing Light Zither appeared in his hands, placed on his lap. He gently plucked the strings, letting melodious piano sounds flow from his fingers, resonating around the lake.
He intended to lure out the spirit beast lurking in the lake using the piano sound.
Initially, there was no reaction on the water’s surface. He remained unhurried, even closing his eyes and immersing himself entirely in playing.
Doing so proved effective. Once he fully immersed himself, his music grew several levels more enchanting than before, irresistibly drawing listeners into the scenes depicted by the music, their emotions swaying with the tune’s ebb and flow.
After playing three songs, the lake’s surface finally changed. Rings of ripples appeared, growing larger quickly, and the water began to slightly undulate, as if something was about to break through.
Yue Zhao still kept his eyes closed, seemingly wholly absorbed in the performance, unaware of the changes above the water.
Suddenly, a pair of dark red eyes emerged above the water, silently observing Yue Zhao.
However, Yue Zhao seemed oblivious to the eyes, maintaining his playing without shifting his hands, his melodies growing even more stirring than before.
He played two more upbeat pieces, and more of the creature in the lake revealed itself above the surface, its entire head emerging. Its head resembled a snake’s but was broader, and the top was not covered in snake scales but rather looked like the skin of a fish.
Its body was black and purple, with a striking white pattern along its back.
As it became engrossed in Yue Zhao’s playing, the music’s tone suddenly shifted, infused with immortal power, sending invisible Sound Blades flying towards it.
Realizing something amiss and eager to dive back underwater, the spirit beast suddenly found the surrounding space seemingly sealed off, preventing it from retreating, leaving it to evade the intangible Sound Blades. Enraged, it opened its mouth, unleashing an invisible sonic attack that shattered the Sound Blades instantly.
Yue Zhao felt a sharp pain in his head, his hands pausing, interrupting the music and breaking the space trapping the spirit beast, which quickly attempted to delve back into the water.
Having invested so much effort to coax it out of the water, Yue Zhao naturally wouldn’t let it return so easily. He placed his hands back on the Flowing Light Zither, enduring the pain in his mind, and began playing once more.
This time, his music took on a murderous quality, each section brimming with endless killing intent, with the invisible Sound Blades becoming more piercing, leaving fine wounds across the spirit beast’s body, causing fresh blood to ooze out. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Enraged because it couldn’t return to the water, the spirit beast opted to fully reveal itself, ascending into the air.
It was a juvenile version of a Teng Snake, with almost transparent wings on its back. Because it was not fully matured, it seemed rather weak, its tail flailing anxiously in the air.
"So it is a Teng Snake, no wonder!" Seeing the Teng Snake’s form, Yue Zhao suddenly understood, yet his hands continued their motions.
The Teng Snake’s cultivation was higher than Yue Zhao’s, at the high-level Golden Immortal Realm. But perhaps because it was juvenile and hadn’t experienced many battles in the Secret Realm, it couldn’t fully utilize its capabilities, with a combat power at best at the low-level Golden Immortal Realm, entirely no match for Yue Zhao.
As a Music Cultivator, Yue Zhao naturally couldn’t match a Sword Cultivator like Si Lin in offense. However, that didn’t mean he was weak, as he played a significant role in team battles, and was quite formidable in solo combat too.
Facing the Teng Snake, with higher cultivation, he remained calm and composed, series of tactics preventing the creature from reacting, leaving it only to take a beating passively!
