Chapter 445: Chapter 125: [Second Update]

After speaking, Jun Wu directly paid for Gu Qingqing, then placed the headband on Gu Qingqing’s head while she looked confused. Fortunately, Gu Qingqing’s hairstyle today suited the headband, making her look even more beautiful after putting it on.

"It looks great." Jun Wu stepped back a pace, took a serious look at Gu Qingqing’s face, then smiled lightly and praised her.

"Really?" Gu Qingqing looked at Jun Wu with surprise and carefully touched the headband on her forehead, asking.

Jun Wu nodded, then leaned down and gave her a light peck on the lips.

Gu Qingqing froze for a moment, quickly covered her mouth, and carefully glanced around. Seeing that no one seemed to notice, she turned back and gave Jun Wu a glare.

"What are you doing? There are so many people watching." Although she indeed liked Jun Wu’s kisses, that was only when they were alone, not in public, which made her somewhat shy.

Jun Wu’s eyes showed a hint of amusement. He wrapped an arm around Gu Qingqing’s waist and continued walking forward.

"I just heard there’s a dessert shop nearby that’s quite good. Do you want to try it?" He suggested as they walked.

"Really? Where is it?" Gu Qingqing asked eagerly.

With the mention of food, Gu Qingqing immediately brushed aside the previous incident. Her demeanor amused Jun Wu, though he concealed it well enough that Gu Qingqing didn’t notice, or she might have glared at him again.

Jun Wu wasn’t lying to Gu Qingqing; there was indeed a bustling dessert shop not far from them. Its peach blossom cake, pear flower syrup, and osmanthus cake were very popular, loved not only by outsiders but also by locals from Huasheng City, with business always being good.

Moreover, all three of these desserts were limited in availability; if one came late, they wouldn’t be able to purchase them, which often resulted in long queues outside the shop.

Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu were lucky today; there weren’t many people in line. After talking to the shopkeeper, they found out which were the tastiest, and Gu Qingqing wanted to try all of them.

"Please pack one portion of each of these three desserts for us," Jun Wu decided, seeing Gu Qingqing still hesitating.

"Great, you two are quite lucky today. There’s only one portion of peach blossom cake and osmanthus cake left," the shop attendant cheerfully told Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu.

Surprised by the coincidence, Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu exchanged glances and chuckled.

The attendant was quick, wrapping up the desserts in no time. As he handed them to Jun Wu, a man and a woman walked in from outside.

"Boss, I’d like a peach blossom cake and an osmanthus cake," the woman called out to the attendant upon entering.

"I’m sorry, we’ve sold out of the peach blossom cake and pear flower syrup. Would you like to try something else?" the attendant suggested with a smile after Jun Wu took the wrapped desserts.

"What?" The woman seemed unable to accept this result. "How are they sold out? We left quite early today!"

Fu Xue was a bit frustrated. She had heard that this shop’s peach blossom cake and osmanthus cake were delicious since arriving in Huasheng City, but each time she went, she’d be told they were sold out. Today, despite leaving early in hopes she could finally buy the cakes she’d been longing for, they’d sold out again!

"The last portion just sold to these two patrons. Why not try some of our other desserts? They taste great too," the attendant proposed again, glancing at Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu heading out.

Following the attendant’s gaze, Fu Xue looked at Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu, initially surprised by their attractiveness. It was her first time seeing such a handsome man and a beautiful woman. She gaped, but realizing they had purchased the desserts she most desired, her mind heated, and she dashed toward them, blocking their path.

Fu Xue moved so quickly that no one else reacted in time. Had Jun Wu not instinctively pulled Gu Qingqing into his arms, she might have collided with Fu Xue. The thought of Gu Qingqing getting hurt made Jun Wu look at Fu Xue coldly.

"What are you doing?" He asked Fu Xue, not kindly.

Startled by Jun Wu’s gaze, Fu Xue hesitated, but seeing the wrapped desserts in his hand reminded her of her desire.

"I’ll pay double if you sell me your desserts!" Fu Xue demanded, tilting her head stubbornly toward Jun Wu and Gu Qingqing.

"Junior sister, what are you doing?" The man with Fu Xue finally reacted, moved beside her, pulled her back, and smiled apologetically at Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu. "My junior sister doesn’t understand and acted rudely; please don’t take offense!"

"Senior brother, why are you pulling me?" Fu Xue protested, unsatisfied as she was shielded behind the man.

"Be quiet, don’t speak," the man instructed sternly before turning back to Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu. He paused to survey their attire, his smile becoming more genuine, "I apologize on behalf of my junior sister. Please forgive her!"

Seeing the man this way made Fu Xue more anxious; she looked at Jun Wu and Gu Qingqing with unconcealed hostility.

"An apology should come from the one who made the mistake to be sincere. But I don’t think your junior sister intends to," Gu Qingqing, finally understanding the situation, stood straight from Jun Wu’s embrace and said to Fu Xue, slightly mocking.

The man’s smile stiffened, and he turned to glare at Fu Xue, signaling her to keep quiet just as she was about to speak. "Axue, apologize to these fellow Taoists!"

"No, I won’t! I didn’t do anything wrong; why should I apologize to them?" Fu Xue was spoiled, and now being treated this way by her senior brother filled her with grievance, her eyes red though she stubbornly refused to admit fault.
