My Five Bigshot Seniors: I am The Most Coddled Junior!-Chapter 421 - 101
After watching Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu leave, Helian Shen returned to the private room where several people had been sitting. Wen Xiyue and Leng Yan were sitting quietly; neither was the talkative type. Even though they had grown up together, there was nothing much to say when sitting together, making the room very quiet at this moment.
When Helian Shen entered the room and saw this scene, his steps paused for a moment. Although he was used to it, he still felt somewhat speechless.
"I say, you two, you grew up together after all, but your temperaments are just too speechless. You mean to tell me that all the time I was out, you two didn’t say a word to each other?" Helian Shen muttered as he walked inside.
Upon hearing this, Wen Xiyue and Leng Yan finally moved. They exchanged glances, then looked away and turned their gaze to Helian Shen, finally having a bit of tacit understanding.
Looking at their faces, Helian Shen once again felt powerless.
"Alright, you’ve met Jun Wu too. Tell me, what are your impressions of him?" Helian Shen sat next to Wen Xiyue, and after looking over, he instinctively flashed a bright smile at Wen Xiyue and asked.
"Very powerful." Wen Xiyue remembered the oppressive feeling she experienced when they ran into Jun Wu and Gu Qingqing on the street earlier and said.
Leng Yan glanced at Wen Xiyue, then nodded in agreement with Wen Xiyue’s statement.
"He said he’s a disciple of the Langya Immortal Sect, but didn’t specify which kind. However, I guess both of them are at least elder’s direct disciples, possibly even Peak Master’s direct disciples." Helian Shen nodded, then voiced his conjecture.
Although Helian Shen hadn’t left Zhonglan City all these years, he understood that disciples in an immortal sect were categorized in several ways. Judging by Jun Wu and the other’s demeanor, they couldn’t be outer or inner sect disciples; they had to be at least elder’s direct disciples.
"All these years, the three of us grew up together in Zhonglan City. The only people we considered rivals were each other. I’ve been feeling a bit bored of it. Jun Wu’s appearance brings a sense of urgency we need," Helian Shen said, looking at Leng Yan and Wen Xiyue with interest.
As he mentioned, the three of them had always viewed one another as rivals. However, over the years, they had become quite familiar with each other. Before they realized it, they had grown somewhat complacent. With the appearance of Jun Wu, they felt a sense of urgency, motivating them to strive upward. At least now, Helian Shen felt his competitive spirit rekindled.
Though Leng Yan didn’t speak, a glint flashed in his eyes. Evidently, like Helian Shen, Jun Wu had sparked a competitive spirit within him.
"I will never admit defeat in artifact refining!" Wen Xiyue looked at Helian Shen and spoke earnestly.
As someone whose heart is entirely devoted to artifact refining, Wen Xiyue could back down on other matters, but never on refining. Even if Jun Wu seemed formidable, she wouldn’t be intimidated; it would only push her to work harder!
"Alright then, let’s give our all in the upcoming competition and see who truly is the strongest!" Despite his affection for Wen Xiyue, Helian Shen wouldn’t yield in artifact refining, and this time was no exception.
"Mm." Wen Xiyue looked at Helian Shen and nodded, her expression very serious.
Then they both looked at Leng Yan. Under their gazes, Leng Yan spoke for the first time.
"I will too!" She looked at Helian Shen and Wen Xiyue, her expression cool but her eyes somewhat fiery.
This gaze was the first time it had appeared in Leng Yan’s eyes, which surprised both Helian Shen and Wen Xiyue. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"I’m heading off first." Leng Yan suddenly stood up, left a parting comment, and exited the private room before the others could react.
"Well then, I should go too." Wen Xiyue watched Leng Yan leave, then stood up and said to Helian Shen.
"Ayue, let me walk with you." Helian Shen didn’t want to miss the rare opportunity to be with Wen Xiyue and quickly offered.
Wen Xiyue hesitated a moment, seeing Helian Shen’s smiling face. She nodded, consenting to his offer.
Helian Shen was delighted and eagerly followed Wen Xiyue.
...
After Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu returned to the inn, they also discussed the trio of Leng Yan and the others.
"Those three are surprisingly easy to get along with. I initially thought they would resent us for taking the first place." Gu Qingqing remarked to Jun Wu as she sipped her Immortal Fruit Juice.
"They’re not like that!" Jun Wu confidently responded.
He had only known them for a little over an hour, but based on their recent exchange, he was sure he hadn’t misjudged. The trio was passionate about artifact refining, and because of this, they wouldn’t retaliate against him just because he took first place, contrary to what Gu Qingqing anticipated!
Gu Qingqing nodded seriously, "They’re quite decent people, a bit unexpected."
Though Leng Yan and Wen Xiyue both seemed very aloof, they didn’t lack any necessary manners. And while they spoke little, they intently looked at you while you were speaking, without making you feel disrespected. Meanwhile, Helian Shen was very talkative, and he had a great personality, like a little sun spreading warmth to those around him.
The three had different personalities, but it was apparent their relations were good, which rarely happened among rivals.
"Worth making friends with." Jun Wu said, taking a sip of the Immortal Fruit Juice Gu Qingqing handed him as he appraised them.
Hearing Jun Wu say this, Gu Qingqing was slightly surprised. When she recalled the trio’s demeanor, she nodded in agreement without comment.
The night passed quickly, and early the next morning, Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu were back at the square.
Although many people were eliminated the previous day, the number of people on the square had not decreased. Thanks to yesterday’s first-place win, Jun Wu and Gu Qingqing encountered many people as they walked past the square. Some recognized Jun Wu and immediately recounted yesterday’s events to their companions.
"Look over there, that’s Jun Wu, the one who beat Mr. Shen and the others yesterday."
"His looks, they are too exceptional, aren’t they? I used to think Young Master Yan and Mr. Shen’s appearances were already outstanding, but I didn’t expect Jun Wu’s to be even more so. And the lady beside him, she’s stunning too."
"Indeed, yesterday that lady might have been watching from the outside, and we didn’t see her. Now, standing together, they make such a perfect pair, both in looks and aura!"
"I didn’t think Mr. Jun would be so young; I thought he was probably in his thirties or close to forty."
