My Fiancé's Scandals Never End, So I Married His Uncle Instead-Chapter 116: Boyfriend Makes an Entrance
The Sterling Group R&D Building.
Silas Norwood arrived at the main entrance at two o’clock in the afternoon, right on time. As before, Director Linden was there to personally greet him. Even though this wasn’t the first time she had seen him, and despite the fact that Silas was wearing a mask, Director Linden couldn’t stop her eyes from drifting toward him. Her tone was very polite:
"If you’re not in a hurry, you can come with me to the Human Resources department to register for an access pass. It’ll save you the trouble of using a one-time temporary pass code every time you visit. Our R&D building has very strict security. The temporary codes don’t work on the elevators, so you always need someone to escort you. Since you and President Sterling’s happy occasion is near, you’ll surely be a frequent visitor..."
Silas Norwood gave a faint nod. "Is it convenient?"
"Of course. The chairman personally approved it, and just before I came downstairs, President Sterling also specifically instructed me to bring you up after registering your pass."
"Thank you for the trouble."
The Human Resources Department.
Director Linden led Silas Norwood into the restricted area, produced a document signed by Kian Sterling, and called over the access control administrator. "Please register an access pass for this gentleman."
The administrator reviewed the document for a moment, then looked at the refined and noble man. "Pardon me for asking, but this gentleman’s identity is...?"
"This is the Sterling family’s future son-in-law, President Sterling’s boyfriend," Director Linden reminded him. "Process a top-level access pass for him, and while you’re at it, register his fingerprint for President Sterling’s office door. That way, he can see her whenever he wants."
Hearing that he was the family’s future son-in-law, the administrator immediately became respectful. He quickly turned on the device, his tone polite. "We’ll need to register your fingerprint and face. Please remove your mask."
Silas Norwood’s pale golden eyes paused on the device for a moment before he reached up and took off the mask that covered most of his face.
The restricted area, which had been quite lively just a moment ago, suddenly fell so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
From the man’s refined bone structure, Director Linden had inferred that an incredibly handsome face must lie beneath the mask. But when that face was revealed, completely unobstructed, she was still stunned into silence.
It wasn’t just her; everyone in the Human Resources department was staring intently. His perfect proportions and cold, ascetic air had already made him the center of attention the moment he appeared. Now, with his mask off, his sealed, handsome features were on full display. His noble, aloof bearing mingled with the unique oppressive aura of someone in power, creating a uniquely captivating presence that left everyone afraid to even breathe too loudly for fear of disturbing him.
Director Linden couldn’t help but mentally compare the man before her to Celia Sterling’s ex, Declan Norwood. Declan was certainly very good-looking—a handsome, roguish heartthrob. But faced with this vision of absolute perfection, the memory of Declan suddenly dimmed, fading into the recesses of her mind. There was simply no comparison.
The strange silence lasted for several minutes.
Finally, the administrator found his voice. "P-place your thumb on the scanner, and f-face the camera..."
Silas Norwood did as instructed.
The administrator swallowed hard, entering information on the profile page. "Sir, could you please state your name...?"
"Silas Norwood." His cool voice was cooperative.
The restless department once again fell completely silent.
"Silas Norwood?" Director Linden cried out. "Which Silas Norwood?"
Silas Norwood glanced at her, his voice faint. "Silas Norwood of the Norwood Group."
The administrator nearly fell off his chair! Beside him, Director Linden lost her composure and knocked over a glass of water on the table.
Not many people had seen Silas Norwood in person, but everyone knew his name. The famous chaebol leader of Metropia, the "Moneybags" with tens of millions of fans, the unobtainable cinnabar mole and white moonlight who was as renowned as their own president—the halos surrounding him were simply too numerous to count!
Every single person present followed him on Weibo. They had all wildly discussed his cryptic relationship announcement, but none of them had ever imagined that this "flower of the high peaks," who seemed above all worldly desires, would be plucked by President Sterling...
Director Linden scrambled to right the toppled water glass, her voice dazed but filled with an indescribable excitement.
"So our future son-in-law is Chairman Norwood! This is just wonderful! For a beauty like our President Sterling, only someone of Chairman Norwood’s stature is a worthy match! Please continue, Chairman Norwood. Once you’re done, I’ll take you up to see President Sterling. I’m sure she’s getting impatient."
Whether Celia Sterling was impatient or not, Silas Norwood didn’t know.
But he had been left restless and flustered by Celia Sterling’s invitation to "eat candy" in her video call.
When he arrived at Celia Sterling’s office, she was poring over a document.
"President Sterling, Chairman Norwood is here!" Director Linden announced, knocking on the doorframe.
Celia Sterling looked up and saw the aloof and elegant man standing at the door. He held a fancy coffee bag in one hand and a fine clothing bag in the other. His expression was gentle, his eyes holding a captivating glimmer.
"Silas Norwood." By telling him to get an access pass, she had essentially made his identity public, so now she could call his name openly. She gave him a little wave. "Come in."
Silas Norwood strode closer on his long legs and leaned down slightly, his voice gentle. "What are you working on, Cece?"
"Looking at a disputed contract." Celia Sterling’s tone was a bit troubled. She asked him softly for help, "Can you take a look and see what the problem is? I hate these kinds of tedious matters."
As she spoke, she made room for him beside her.
Silas Norwood sat down next to her and, quite naturally, wrapped an arm around her, pulling her halfway into his embrace. He glanced casually at the document and pinpointed the issue with a single sentence: "The responsibility doesn’t lie with the Sterlings. The other party has a property rights dispute. Just toss it to the Sterling’s legal department and let them handle it."
"You’re certainly experienced at being a hands-off boss..." Celia Sterling teased softly, but she took his advice. She handed the contract to Director Linden and told her to send it to the legal department.
Director Linden turned to leave, tactfully closing the office door behind her.
Now that they were alone, talking about work would be dull.
Silas Norwood took out the coffee and some small pastries. "Have a little something to eat. Too much coffee is bad for your stomach."
Celia Sterling was still nestled in his arms. She tilted her head up to look at him. "I thought you were coming at noon."
"I went back to Jade Orchid Manor to get something." Silas Norwood took a fine velvet box out of the other bag, opened it to reveal the wedding rings inside, and looked at her with a serious expression.
Celia Sterling held out her hand, cooperatively placing it in his palm.
Silas Norwood slipped the dazzling women’s ring onto her slender ring finger. The size was perfect, and it complemented her fair skin beautifully. A smile appeared in his eyes as he affectionately played with her fingers. "It’s a perfect fit."
Celia Sterling remembered the day of their engagement switch. He had been restrained and polite, subtly tracing the rim of a glass against her ring finger for a fleeting moment, claiming he was measuring the size.
It hadn’t been long since then.
Yet the two of them had already become so familiar with each other.
Silas Norwood took out the men’s wedding ring and put it on as well. He interlaced their fingers, displaying both rings, and took a few photos with his phone. "For the official announcement in a couple of days."
Celia Sterling hummed in agreement.
She looked curiously at the still-full bag. "What else did you bring, Silas?"
"I brought the matching couple’s outfits we bought when we went shopping last time." Silas Norwood’s gaze fell upon her, and his voice lowered. "I also brought a set of lingerie for you, Cece."
Celia Sterling followed his gaze to her own, relatively conservative blouse. Remembering the outfit he had torn, she said with a hint of annoyance, "You certainly came prepared."
"There’s a lot of the lingerie I bought for you last time in the dressing room at Jade Orchid Manor. I spent my lunch break learning how to unfasten it."
Silas Norwood’s long fingers traced the curve of her body, moving with practiced ease to her back. Through the thin fabric of her blouse, he touched the clasp of her bra, his tone utterly serious.
"Shall I show you?"
