Chapter 112: Chapter 112: Meeting Rivermoon

Kian Sterling watched him in silence.

Silas Norwood’s tone was gentle as he met his gaze. "You can tell me all about these things, Kade. Or I can find them out for myself—it makes no difference."

"Why do you want to know all this?" Kian Sterling’s tone was sharp and forceful. "You’re not even married yet, and you’re already thinking of disciplining her?"

"Life is short. What’s the fun in the typical pastimes of a well-bred lady, like music, chess, and painting?" Silas Norwood sighed softly. "She has her own unique hobbies, and as her fiancé, I ought to indulge her, spoil her, and make sure she has the time of her life."

"Aren’t you afraid people will say you married a willful and reckless wife?" Kian Sterling scrutinized him.

"At our level, Kade," Silas Norwood gave a faint smile, "why would we fear gossip?"

Kian Sterling’s aggressive and domineering air dissipated at that sentence.

After a brief silence.

He slowly picked up his beer. Seeing that Silas Norwood’s expression had softened considerably, he took on the role of the elder brother-in-law and proactively clinked glasses with him. "You’ll have your work cut out for you from now on."

Silas Norwood drank with him. "You’ll have your hands full too, Kade."

An unspoken agreement was reached between the two men—

One, in the name of her elder brother.

The other, in the capacity of her husband.

To raise her together.

「The next morning」, when Celia Sterling got up, she found Silas Norwood also at the dining table.

"You’re here so early?" She sat down casually, looking with some surprise at Silas Norwood, who was quietly discussing a project with Kian Sterling.

Silas Norwood gently poured her some soy milk. "I didn’t go back last night. I stayed here with Kade."

Celia Sterling’s almond-shaped eyes darted back and forth between his and Kian Sterling’s faces several times. Whatever was going through her mind, her tone was a little odd:

"Night after night... How many days and nights have you two spent talking recently? How do you have so much to talk about?"

She couldn’t resist teasing, "That offer for you two to move in together... you’re really not going to consider it?"

"It wouldn’t be proper for two grown men to live together," Silas Norwood said in his gentle tone. "However, Kade and I have reached an agreement. Even after we’re married, he can’t just wash his hands of his brother-in-law duties. He still has to step in when needed."

Celia Sterling said, "Oh. Well, even after I’m married, I’ll still come back and stay for a few days every week. I can’t just leave my brother all alone in this quiet house."

Silas Norwood nodded. "I’ll come with you."

Nearby, Kian Sterling watched the two of them with a calm expression and let out a soft scoff. "Just stay out of my way."

"Kade knows full well, Cece, that I can’t bring myself to discipline you." Silas Norwood’s voice was cool, yet laced with a hint of helplessness. "At critical moments, Kade will have to be the one to play the bad cop."

Kian Sterling just scoffed and said nothing.

Celia Sterling silently lowered her head and ate, listening to their desultory conversation. She couldn’t help but feel that the atmosphere between the two men was strangely more harmonious compared to the guardedness she’d sensed at the airport yesterday.

After breakfast, the three of them went to the company together.

Celia Sterling rode with Silas Norwood. When he dropped her off at the company entrance, she finally couldn’t hold back her curiosity. "How did you and my brother suddenly get so much closer?"

Silas Norwood gave her a gentle look. "We’re going to be family, after all. To raise our Cece together, we need to be on the same page."

"It’s not like you’re raising a child..." Celia Sterling was a little speechless. She pushed open the car door and got out.

Silas Norwood watched her back disappear into the office building before slowly turning the steering wheel and driving away.

Back in her office, Celia Sterling handed a pile of souvenirs from Port Sovereign to her assistant and asked her to distribute them.

Director Linden brought her some tea and asked with a smile about her trip, "President Sterling, how did things go? Was your trip to Port Sovereign a success?"

"It was more than a success!" Celia Sterling smiled but didn’t elaborate on her gains. "From now on, the department’s Perfumer training sessions will be expanded from one to two, and I’ll be personally hosting them."

The resources she had obtained from the legendary Lowell Family of Perfumers required countless rounds of practice. This was far beyond what she could accomplish by working in isolation; it required a large team for extensive practical application. She wouldn’t share the core theories without the Lowell Family’s permission, but after seeing the wider world at The Fragrance Gala, she had become deeply aware of Delia Caine’s many shortcomings. It was crucial to share what she could of her perfuming experience to improve the team’s overall strength.

Director Linden’s eyes lit up. "With you, our Chief Perfumer, training them personally, those Perfumers are going to be ecstatic!"

After all, she usually preferred to stay in her lab. For the perfuming training, she might not even personally make an appearance once a month, leaving the sessions to be hosted by Delia Caine’s veteran Perfumers. It wasn’t that they were bad, but with the market skewing younger, and with Celia Sterling’s perfuming skills and vision being top-tier, the results would certainly be better.

Celia Sterling calmly changed the subject, asking Director Linden about important company matters that had come up in her absence. Director Linden summarized the key points, then pointed to the large pile of documents in front of her:

"These all require your approval."

Celia Sterling’s face fell slightly as she looked at the thick stack. Finding this amusing, Director Linden suggested:

"Or perhaps you’d like to go hide out and enjoy some more free time? About that base we discussed last time..."

Celia Sterling’s expression turned serious. It wasn’t really about slacking off; after so many days of delays, the new product was launching in a few days. The matter of the base truly couldn’t be postponed any longer.

She nodded. "You should clear your schedule, too. You’re coming with me on a business trip to the Rhovan Base in the next couple of days."

Director Linden nodded. "Okay, I’ll book tickets for the day after tomorrow, then?"

Celia Sterling hummed in agreement and buried herself in the mountain of work.

After spending the morning getting through nearly a third of the backlogged files, she took a moment to catch her breath and thought of that Mr. Trenton who had snatched up the Caspia Base, and his boss, Rivermoon.

’It’s been a while since I’ve contacted that big shot.’

’I wonder if Mr. Trenton’s offer to connect me with Rivermoon to discuss the base is still on the table.’

She had gotten his number last time at the Lowell Family’s villa. After mulling it over for a few seconds, Celia Sterling dialed the number.

On the other end, Miles Trenton answered instantly. "Ma—oh, Miss Sterling, how can I help you?"

"Mr. Trenton, you mentioned you could help me contact your boss..."

"Of course." Miles Trenton paused for a moment. "Miss Sterling, just name a time and place, and my boss will meet you in person."

Celia Sterling’s heart skipped a beat. She hadn’t expected things to progress so smoothly; she’d assumed he would at least hedge a little first, since his offer to connect them had been made casually and wasn’t a formal agreement.

Miles Trenton’s reply was a pleasant surprise. She recalled that when she had won the perfume ingredients from the red envelope giveaway in the group chat, the package had been delivered by a local courier. Also, the spicy hot pot from Rivermoon’s social media post was a Metropia brand. She decided to strike while the iron was hot:

"Your boss lives in Metropia, right? Why don’t we meet here in the next couple of days?"

"Fine," came the crisp reply from the other end.

Celia Sterling thought for a moment. A big shot of Rivermoon’s caliber, who was also usually so low-key, would surely value privacy. She mentally ran through the high-end clubs in Metropia, immediately ruling out her own brother’s infamous den of extravagance. Her focus ultimately landed on The Regent’s Residence, which was under Silas Norwood’s name.

The Regent’s Residence wasn’t open to the public for entertainment, but it was the top choice in Metropia for the heads of prominent families and influential figures in business and politics to hold discussions.

Sufficiently exclusive.

Sufficiently private.

She tentatively asked, "Tomorrow at seven p.m. at The Regent’s Residence. Would that work?"

This time, the other party was silent for a good while before letting out a chuckle. "As you wish."
