My Fenrir System: Heir To The End-Chapter 35: Chaos in the city [1]
Chapter 35: Chaos in the city [1]
"What the hell happened!"
Erik exclaimed with eyes wide as saucers, as he looked at the chaos all over the place.
"AHHHHHH!!! HELP!!!"
They turned their attention to the loud cry for help. Watched as a man was screaming for his life, as a monster opened its huge maw.
"HELP I DON'T WANT MO...."
The man didn't finish his sentence before the monster bit them in half, and their organs and blood fell to the ground. And the monster continued on its way in search of its next meal.
Violet looked at Erik, trembling heavily as she pointed to the remains of the man and as she was about to say something a guttural sound. "Buahhh...", escaped her lips throwing up everything she had for breakfast. This unpleasant noise attracted the monster's attention.
Erik sees the monster heading towards them. "Tch! Shit, I'll have to spend my Fenrir points" he clicked his tongue in annoyance at having to spend his points, which are not easy to get.
From a single glance, it could be seen that Violet was now in no condition to fight because it was the first time she experienced a monster devouring a human.
Opening his status window, Erik decides to spend all his Fenrir Points on his stats, because now just by looking at her, she is in complete chaos.
[You have spent 27 Fenrir Points in 'Statistics']
[Stats]
Strength: 55 | Endurance: 48 | Dexterity: 47 | Vitality: 50 | End Energy: 39
After exhausting all of his Fenrir Points, Erik felt his strength and energy suddenly increase, which brought a wide grin to his face.
"Ah~ This one feels really good..." exclaimed Erik with a big smile. He grabbed the spear and covered it with End Energy, concentrated his strength on his legs, causing the ground to crack into a spider web shape, and lunged toward the monster with determination.
"Krirkrirk!!!"
Seeing Erik rapidly approaching, the monster raised its gigantic hand and launched an attack to crush him.
However, to the monster's surprise, Erik zigzagged, leaving it a bit bewildered by the speed with which he moved and dodged the attack...
Boom!
A small cloud of dust rose up, as the monster attacked.
"Krirkrkrkrkrirk!!!"
The monster flashed a smile as it saw no movement in the dust cloud, but that smile quickly changed when...
Swoosh!
From the middle of the dust cloud, Erik emerged completely unharmed, quickly climbing up the monster's hand and heading towards the monster's head, while his eyes glowed slightly.
"Krikrikrikrikrikrirk...!!!?"
The monster with an annoyed expression attacks with his strength on his forearm where Erik quickly climbs.
Seeing how a shadow of a hand was rapidly approaching, Erik gathered more strength in his legs, and in the blink of an eye, he appeared in front of the monster who had a surprised expression.
"Die..." exclaimed Erik with a big smile. He thrusts the spear into the monster's head, which begins to slowly fall backward with a big hole in front of it.
Boom!
The monster's body fell heavily on the street. Now with the monster defeated, Erik had a full view of the current state of the city.
"What the hell happened in such a short time" exclaimed Erik, looking at how the whole city had changed in just a few hours.
The current state of the city to put it in a few words was 'Chaos' The streets were full of monsters, and blood and organs were flowing down the gutters like water. You could also see children, adults, pregnant women, the elderly, and lifeless hunters all over the place.
Erik looked at this with a completely neutral expression, he didn't feel any kind of emotions looking at all this, but felt completely comfortable looking at all the chaos. He had the same feeling as when he arrived at the area where the undead skeletons were.
'Could this be because of my affiliation?' thought Erik, recognizing that perhaps he had something to do with it. After all, the apocalypse went hand in hand with destruction and chaos.
'But what a strange feeling...'
'But now I can say with certainty, I have no attachment to humans.'
After witnessing all this, Erik came to the conclusion that he was no longer affected by anything to do with humans as before. He turned his gaze to the back, where Violet had not yet fully recovered. He looked down, drew the sword from his inventory, made a slash at the monster's heart, and extracted the mana stone.
"Well... I just hope Kiara is okay," Erik muttered as he descended from the monster and approached Violet, who was getting up.
Standing beside her, Erik asked softly, "Are you okay?"
Violet looked up and met Erik's worried expression, which brought a faint smile to her face. Seeing Erik's concern for her comforted her.
Once Violet was fully incorporated, she inhaled deeply and asked, "So what now, what's our next step?"
Erik was silent for a moment, pondering what they should do next. "I think it would be best to try to reach out to the association, for rather obvious reasons," he said, turning his gaze toward the city in complete chaos.
After all, the hunters' association was the safest place, for there was the world's strongest hunter and his team.
"I agree. Besides, we're close to the association," Violet stated, aware that it was the safest place at the moment.
"Then let's go ahead."
They both headed towards the hunters' association, avoiding the areas with the greatest presence of monsters.
....
After walking for quite a while, carefully avoiding the most powerful monsters they encountered on their way.
"Seriously, this place is untouched" exclaimed Violet, looking at the association building which was completely intact. She looked back and saw the city in shambles.
Erik nodded in response and suggested, "We should go inside." He walked towards the entrance of the association with determination.
Once inside the building, they were met with a melee of people, both hunters and civilians. Most of the civilians appeared to be crying, while the hunters bore serious injuries, a testament to their brave stand against the monsters.
One of the hunters shared his anguish: "I saw how my mother was devoured by one of those monsters, right in front of my eyes."
Another added in frustration, "Why the hell is the Luminis guild attacking anything that moves?"
Amidst the cries of the civilians, someone desperately asked, "Please, can someone calm the baby down? I'm trying to rest."
And finally, another hunter swore angrily, "Damn...just wait, damn you Luminis guild members, I'll hunt you down until the end of the world."
Erik and Violet passing through the crowd heard everything from babies crying, to people cursing with a completely crazed expression at the loss of a family member to the monsters in the city.
Erik, listening to what the people were talking about, got a rough idea of what happened in the city. That it was all caused by the Luminis guild, but there was something he didn't understand.
'How was it that they made the city become like this so fast? How did so many monsters appear?'
That was the only thing Erik didn't understand: how they had made so many monsters in the city. He averted his gaze to the stairs leading up to the second floor and saw Adrian, Leon's subordinate, gesturing for him to come up.
Erik, looking at Violet who was a bit puzzled by all the noise on the second floor, grabbed her hand and headed towards Adrian.
When they entered the room where Leon and his group were. They were completely calm looking at the city in complete chaos from the window, sensing Adrian's entrance, they turned their attention to him who was entering with Erik and Violet.
Erik as if nothing had happened, sat down on one of the pieces of furniture, and next to him sat Violet who was a little nervous being present of so many strong people.
"Where were you? We couldn't find you anywhere in the city" Leon spoke without looking away from the window.
"Well I was, in a dungeon" answered Erik, as he leaned back on the furniture.
Leon continued asking, "Were you surprised when you came out of the dungeon?"
"A little, I didn't expect the city that a few hours ago would be in complete chaos."
"One question, why is the building completely unharmed?"
Leon answered matter-of-factly. "Because there is a powerful barrier that can only be destroyed by an S-rank monster."
"Wow, that's pretty impressive, now I understand why the building is intact."
"It is impressive isn't it?"
"Yeah pretty impressive."
The others in the room were with shocked expressions still not used to seeing a D-ranked hunter casually talking to the world's strongest hunter as if they were some sort of friends.
"By the way, you're close to promotion to C rank, right?" asked Leon.
Erik showed a surprised expression, he said, "How did you know?"
"Well it was thanks to your partner that I was able to come to that conclusion" replied Leon. Without giving much detail about it.
Irine's eyes widened when she heard this information. They hadn't even been there a day since they updated their ranks.
Ignoring the surprised looks, Erik asked seriously.
"All talk aside what happened to the city to get it to this state?"
