My Favorite Game Followed Me!-Chapter 719
Chapter 719
Anton bowed to the inevitable and started wearing thick, cumbersome winter robes. Even with his vaunted physical stats, he could not ignore the low temperature anymore. Even the slim elves looked fluffy with their winter clothing. They were still very agile, though, while running through the Northern Forest, even though the snow on the ground was thick.
Thankfully, the blizzard stopped, and the snow that was falling from the heavens was gentle. Anton was a little sad that the colorful forest was gone and everything looked white, gray, and sad. It was actually the first time Anton encountered deep winter with snow. When he was on Earth, he lived in a city that never experienced snow. When he transmigrated to this world, due to him and his family running from the Undead Coalition, he also fled from the seasons. He and his family had not stopped in a single location to experience the snowy winter.
Anton would have preferred to travel slowly, even in the middle of winter, since he would have liked to observe the forest in its winter clothing. Unfortunately, the forest elves were traveling as if something was chasing them.
“Why are you always running?” Anton asked one of them.
Anton just sighed when they answered that it was their normal mode of traveling if they were not on top of mounts. Why walk when one could run?
Still, Anton did not find the travel difficult, simply because he was flying. He even caught some of the elves looking at him in envy. He offered to sell them the Fly spellbook, but some of them said that they could cast it, but the spell had strict limitations. He realized that the forest elves knew that his way of flying was different from the regular fly spell.
Since the winter was just starting, there were still animals out and about. Some of them were starting to shed their regular furs and were acquiring their winter furs, which, in Anton’s opinion, made them cute. He even caught a hare, which surprised the elves since they thought that Anton planned to kill it for food, but their jaws dropped open when they saw him just petting the hare fiercely. He released it a few minutes, but it was immediately killed by a fox.
Anton caught the fox and petted it. He also released it after a few minutes. What he did not know was that the elves were looking at his actions with amusement.
Some of the elves pointed Anton to some fruits that were still available. Anton only gathered a few of them to taste them since he knew that the remaining would be gathered by the animals that did not flee to the south to avoid winter.
When the sun started to set, instead of retrieving his tiny house from his inventory, Anton decided to adapt how the forest elves rested inside the forest, but when they saw them erecting tents, he just sighed and retrieved his small house.
The elves were curious about his small wooden house, so he showed it to everyone. One of the elves said, wonderingly, about why they did not think of doing the same thing. Some of them had large enough spatial items that a small wooden house would fit inside them. Anton overheard them discussing how to build the same thing, but he caught their disdain about the design of his small house.
Anton remembered that the elves were peerless artisans and more than likely, anything they created would be very beautiful. He decided that if they would allow it, he would commission a tiny wooden house from them.
The forest elves used a mana stone for heating and magic for lighting. Anton felt a little pity that there would be no campfire. When he saw the elves preparing travel rations for dinner, he offered some of the food that he had in his inventory. He did have a lot of them stored, and since he planned to purchase things from the elves, Anton thought that it would be a good idea to form a good relationship with them.
The elves gladly accepted the food that Anton offered since it was infinitely better than dried meat and fruit. While they were eating, they started discussing the Avatar films again. The forest elves asked him a lot of question and soon, Anton was talking about the family’s cinema in Ormunda. He told them that every month, the business released two new movies. He told them some of the films that had been released. He told them about the Star Wars franchise, the Lord of the Rings franchise, the Harry Potter franchise, the Star Trek franchise, and more. Their discussion lasted for hours, and they did not care that they were wasting time.
Anton saw that the elves were highly interested in the movies that he was talking about and knew that if he suggested that his family open a branch in their kingdom, they would gladly accept it. He did not offer it immediately, though. Anton wanted a lot of the forest elves to see the movies first, so they would know what the advantage of having a cinema in their kingdom was.
He had read in some fantasy novels that because of how long-lived the elves were, they kept finding ways to entertain themselves. He didn't know if it was the same thing in this world. If Anton was being honest, he was not interested in earning coins from the forest elves but in having a relationship with them. Even though it seemed like he already abandoned the idea of going against the Undead Coalition, in the back of his mind, he still considered them his greatest enemies and that someday, he would need allies to confront them.
Once everyone was tired enough to rest, Anton went inside his tiny house and slept comfortably after leveling up his Diablo characters for a couple of hours.
They left the camp early, and even though their mode of travel was faster than Anton would have liked, the fact that he was flying still allowed Anton to intimately observe the winter forest. One of the younger forest elves taunted Anton regarding his legs growing weak since he was not using them, so Anton flew down to also start running with the elves. He thought that since his physical stats were great, he could copy the elves’ agility. He discovered that he was very wrong. The moment he stopped using his Telekinesis spell, he sank deep into the snow, causing the elves to laugh. He tried running like them, but he could not do so simply because he kept sinking.
Anton forgot that the forest elves, like the Brownies, had some sort of racial ability that allowed them to traverse the forest in all kinds of terrain with low difficulty. When he remembered it, he gave up and started flying again. He knew that if he were a normal person, he would find traveling through the forest in winter simply impossible. He realized that Anna’s decision to get the Sorceress class because of the Telekinesis spell alone was a wise idea.
The forest elves knew the forest intimately. They pointed out a lot of things to Anton that he would have missed if he were travelling alone. They showed him the different magical plants that were extremely valuable if he sold them to the merchants in Ormunda. They allowed him to gather a few of the plants. They showed him a frozen pond where magical fish lived. They showed him a magical spring that never froze, even in the coldest winter.
Even though it felt to Anton that they were rushing through the forest, he still saw a lot of things that allowed him to admit that his decision to travel the Northern Forest was a good idea.
