Chapter 694
Anton believed that the Avatar franchise was a huge success, and a large number of the audience members of the second cinema were wizards. He did not know how Romina and the others managed to manipulate the audience members so that the more important people were in the first cinema and the rest were in the second cinema, but the event that night concluded successfully.
It had not ended yet. People did not want to live, and since the audience members were part of the extremely rich in that part of Ormunda, food and drinks arrived soon after, and the party continued until the wee hours of the morning.
What impressed Anton was that the people were in control of themselves. He remembered when he was reading about fantasy novels, he had read about nobles indulging themselves until they were insensible and had to be carried home by their servants, but this time, he could see that the people did not want to get too intoxicated. He was flabbergasted to learn, though, that the main reason why was that the women were controlling the men in their family, since apparently, when morning arrived, everyone would be busy shopping for clothing that they would wear for the screening of the last movie in the franchise, which was Avatar: Fire and Ash.
Anton knew that everyone, wizards more than the mundane, were fascinated by the concept of traveling out in space to locate planets rich in resources and finding alien and magical cultures. Supposedly, powerful wizards had already been doing something like that for millennia, but it was through the use of portals in finding different realms or dimensions. The main difference in travelling to outer space was that the dimension was still their home dimensions, but the location was just unimaginably far away.
Antion joined some of the wizards discussing the possibility of traveling to other worlds, and he told them of the concept of traveling using the speed of light. The learned wizards among them said that the magic that would be able to mimic that kind of technology would be incredibly complex and more than likely, the only ones who could start researching on that were those who had reached the semi-divine or even divine rank, but then again, once a wizard had reached that rank, they could travel to other dimensions already.
Other wizards defended the fact that those wizards who were traveling to other dimensions were just doing that, traveling to other dimensions, not their home dimensions. Some said that a study should start regarding researching how to travel to other planets. Still, since the most powerful among them were only Supreme Wizards, they did not know if the more powerful mages had already started those kinds of studies.
The party after the movie premiere lasted until around two in the morning, so by the time they arrived home, it would only be a few hours before the day began. It was not truly a problem since Anton had learned that the magic items like his Pearl of the Ocean and the Magic Corals that he had purchased and given to Anders and Anna were common among the rich, so just a few hours of sleep was enough for a full rest.
When morning arrived, it did not surprise Anton that the manor was extremely lively. Every woman in the family, including all of the “servants” who were assisting the women, was already busy preparing the clothes and accessories they would wear on the premiere night of the last movie in the franchise.
Apparently, the last movie premiere was going to be the crowning event of the season, so each woman wanted to make sure that the gowns they wore would be the highlight of the event. The rumor was that a “newspaper”, which was probably the fashion magazine that the family would launch, would release articles about which person wore the best dresses and accessories.
Anders hid among his group of mercenaries. Anton would have liked to hide as well, but he did promise Anna that he would be involved, and since, after this week, he would probably isolate himself for the major part of the day, he wanted to make sure that Anna would not have any reason to say that his presence was not there.
He joined Anna, Luna, and their friends in going shopping for clothes and accessories, but this time, they actually went and purchased fabric and would spend an ungodly amount of coins to have their dresses custom-made by wizards who specialized in such things. Of course, it was Anton who spent the coins, but he did not mind since he had managed to save a lot of coins from dungeon delving.
At the very least, the girls allowed a noon break for Anton to eat, but each minute they spent dining, he could feel that the girls were impatient in getting back to their seamstresses.
The girls were torn between being frustrated that there was not enough time to prepare for the premiere and delighted that they did not have to wait years and years for the next part of the franchise, just like what happened on Earth. Anton shared that information with everyone.
Apparently, the three films were being treated as one movie by everyone due to the fact that they managed to watch them one after the other.
Romina was extremely delighted at how popular the franchise was and had been receiving nonstop requests that the movie should be shown to the regular moviegoers. She did promise everyone that the movies would be shown, but had not given an exact time frame. Anton knew that Romina would use the Avatar franchise to launch her fashion magazine.
In a short idle moment, Anton asked if Romina would follow the concept of gossip articles, but Romina was hesitant in doing something like that, since this was a magic world, and there were many ways that a rich, idle young noble woman could retaliate if she felt that she was wronged because of gossip.
By the time evening arrived, Anton was extremely exhausted. Unlike before, Anna did not release him and followed everyone until the sun had set. His exhaustion was comparable to battling undead nonstop for the whole day.
The ladies were still not satisfied and would basically continue arranging their clothing and accessories through the night. Anton was a little bitter that he had not seen Anders, who had hidden somewhere for the whole day.
The next day, the whole of Rose Manor was still extremely lively. It was like the manor was preparing for war. The funny part was, the men all wore long-suffering expressions since they were coerced by all of the women into joining the hullabaloo.
The girls even declared that there would be no time for dining in restaurants that night and that everyone should take the time by themselves to eat so they would not get hungry during the movie premiere.
At around five in the afternoon, the fashion parade started. Everyone boarded their carriages and went to the cinema. Since everyone was parading their clothes and accessories and were walking slowly to make sure that everyone had a glimpse of their glorious gowns and jewelry, the actual movie started at around nine in the evening. That was four hours of long parades of gowns, bags, hats, and jewels.
When the movie ended, the only thing that Anton could say was that James Cameron was a genius. More than likely, if he were just like the Earthlings and had seen the three films with years between them, he would have a different opinion about each of the films, but just like the people of this world, he was treating the three movies as one extremely long film.
