My Evil Boy Toy-Chapter 273: In The Hands Of The Enemy
Chapter 273: In The Hands Of The Enemy
Jayden POV
"We should get out of here. He would take us and might threaten my brother to give up the throne. Caden would be in danger!" Peggy panicked.
I knew she was scared of what could her foster father do to us and Caden would not be an exception.
I felt her knees weaken and she was trembling from fear. I didn’t want to see her like that. I wanted her to feel safe. She always looked anxious because we couldn’t find her foster father. We couldn’t even find a trace of that man. He just vanished right after the incident in Flousia.
Peggy turned to me with a worried face.
"Calm down, Peg." I said.
"How can I calm down knowing that Jonathan—"
I grabbed her shoulders and pulled her to comfort her. But it didn’t help. Her whole body was trembling. I didn’t want to leave her, but before I came to Willow Green, I already made up my mind.
"I’m sorry, love. I know that you would get mad at me for doing this. Don’t look for me."
Then I took the tranquillizer that I got from my father’s clinic and injected it into Peggy.
I felt her body become heavy and I knew she already lost consciousness. I lifted her to lay her down on the couch.
I sighed while brushing my hand to her cheek.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" The real Benjamin asked.
I nodded. "If I don’t, that man would haunt us forever. Peggy’s emotional state became different after losing Mireya. In everyone’s eyes, she’s okay. But I know she isn’t."
"Why? She seemed fine to me when you came."
I didn’t glance at Benjamin and just stared at my wife. It could be the last time I could see her so I wanted to take the little time I had in looking at her.
"Because I am like that. After seeing my mother’s murder, I told myself that everything is okay and that what I had been feeling would pass eventually. But it didn’t happen. I always felt that someone was following me and that I would be taken by them. I don’t want Peggy to be like me. I don’t want her to distance herself from everyone because she feels unsafe."
Benjamin didn’t reply after. He just sat on the couch and waited for my instructions. After half an hour, I kissed Peggy on the lips.
"I love you. Please forgive me."
Then I stood up and turned to Benjamin.
"Do you have another name? Or is it always Benjamin?" I asked.
"Arthur. I was named Arthur by my mother." He answered.
I slightly smiled at him. "I’m sorry. I feel uncomfortable calling you Benjamin."
"I understand. I never liked that name so call me Arthur."
I nodded and smiled at him again. "Please take my wife to Primrose and give this letter once she wakes up."
Arthur took the letter from my hand and put it inside his pocket. He stared at me and sighed.
"There might be another way. Your friend, Luke Wilson, he’s the most richest man in this country. Maybe you’re all looking at the wrong places. Or maybe you’re missing something and that’s why you couldn’t find him." He said.
"I was hoping that was the case. But we had been searching for months now and still no lead. This is the only way to find them." I answered.
"And what if you failed? What if you already lost your life and gained nothing? What will happen to your wife and son?"
I was taken aback. Arthur had a point. If I die, then my family would be in danger and I wouldn’t be able to save them.
I stared back at him. "Then I guess I have to stay alive no matter what."
Arthur frowned and sighed again. "You’re crazy. You know your family and friends would not stop looking for you."
I chuckled. "I know."
Arthur shook his head. He couldn’t believe that I was determined to risk my life just to catch Benjamin.
He stood up and was about to carry Peggy, but I didn’t allow him. I couldn’t let another man touch her so I carried Peggy and brought her inside the car.
Then I kissed her again and went back inside. I didn’t look back. I couldn’t. I knew if I turned around and glance at her, my mind would change.
I heard the car engine start and drove away from the apartment. I took a deep breath and sat on the couch again. I rested my head and closed my eyes.
"Mother, I’m finally home," I whispered.
Tears fell from my eyes as I remembered some of the happy memories I had with my mother. Then a glimpse of the day I met Peggy. It was blurry, but I was happy.
That day, I created another identity and let him switch with me. I had no memory from that day onwards, but this time when I closed my eyes, I saw Peggy smiling at me. The day she asked me to be her boyfriend for a week.
That happy moment suddenly vanished when I heard some footsteps running toward our house. I didn’t open my eyes and just waited for them to come inside.
The door swung open when someone kicked it. I heard footsteps from different directions and I knew were already surrounded.
I still didn’t move. Then I heard another footstep. I already guessed it was Benjamin.
"Hello, Jayden. Or should I say, son-in-law?"
I slowly opened my eyes and glared at him. I was grinning at him. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
"Hello, father?" I answered.
He knew I was being sarcastic in calling him, father. His face changed from the last time I saw him. Somehow, he looked like a devil to me.
"Tie him up and put a blindfold on him. Then take him there." Benjamin said.
I smirked. I knew this would happen and my life would be in the hands of the enemy from now on.
