Chapter 237: Who Are You?

"Peggy, relax. We don’t know what the real deal between her and Paolo was. We can’t just jump to a conclusion." Kyle said in a calm voice.

I smirked. I couldn’t believe what he just said.

"Relax? You want me to relax? I lost a child, Kyle! I almost died! My husband was stabbed, and we almost lost our lives! How could you possibly tell me to relax?" I clamored.

"B-But Peggy, she’s still our friend." Sophie uttered.

"She’s not my friend anymore. From the very first time she chose to betray us, she had already ended that friendship. You cannot force me to change my thoughts and feelings towards her. You didn’t lose a child. You didn’t experience dying a few times. My stepfather deceived me, my husband and I almost died, then I lost a child because of those men. You didn’t know how much that hurt me. Now, Nina killed me again. Whatever her reasons, I don’t think I can forgive her." I said.

I glanced at Jayden, who was still lying on the bed unconscious. I was afraid of Jayden. It was his other personality who tried to kill Andrew. The pain and agony from losing our child and being betrayed by a friend hit him.

I didn’t expect that Nina would do such a thing. However, I wondered what pushed her to do it. But whatever her reason or reasons, I don’t think she had no choice when Paolo ordered her to be a spy. You always have a choice. If you can’t trust yourself, put your faith in the people around you. That was what I believed in.

"Andrew, didn’t you notice anything unusual about Nina’s behavior after your trip to Paris?" Luke asked.

"That was six years ago; all I could remember was someone was spying on us. That was when I asked you to help me with my mother. You gave me information about the Santelmo’s helping mom. That was it. After the business conference, we returned home. She was still the same, and I didn’t even suspect that something was wrong." Andrew whispered.

"A good actress. She should be awarded for that." I commented in sarcasm.

Luke continued to check the documents while we quietly sat down, thinking about Nina. She was the only one in our group who belonged to a regular family. She became friends with Alora first, then eventually became our friend. She was an errand girl for the rich kids in high school.

Nina became a student at Golden Oak because of a scholarship. Once you pass the scholarship program, the school will look for a possible sponsor or a patron to support your studies. I don’t really know much about the program, but they said that once they find someone to help you, you will be in debt to that person until you pay all the expenses.

"She said Paolo was her sponsor during high school. Didn’t you check the records of her previous sponsor before it was transferred to Cross Corporation?" Percy asked.

"I did. It was under a different name. Look, it was my fault. If only I had paid her too much attention, maybe everything would be different. I-I’ll look for her. I will find her." Andrew stammered.

Somehow, I pity him. Nina betrayed us and left him with a divorce paper. Is this what Jayden looked like when I left him before? I glanced at Jayden again and sighed.

"When you find her, what will you do? She already signed the divorce paper. And she said she would marry Paolo’s son." Kyle said, looking at Andrew intently.

Andrew sighed. He looked like a mess, and it was the first time I saw him like that. He was always the happy-go-lucky guy, but now, his face was full of sorrow and disappointment.

"I don’t know. But if she marries that guy, I don’t think I can forgive her. The only thing keeping me sane right now is that I love her so much that I cannot hate her." Andrew answered.

Then silence. I couldn’t say anything anymore. I was mad at Nina for betraying me, but I pitied Andrew and wanted them to get back together.

"Andrew, did you just give half of Cross Corporation to Nina?" Luke suddenly asked.

Andrew nodded. Everyone was surprised by what he did. But we thought that maybe he really loved her so much that he was willing to give her everything.

"Uhhh."

We heard a baffled sound coming from the bed. It was Jayden. I rushed to his side to see if he was awake. His eyes were closed, and he had a frown on his face.

"Love?" I whispered.

Kyle walked towards us to check on Jayden. For the past six years, Kyle continued to study medicine. He wasn’t just a psychiatrist, but he’s also a surgeon now.

He took a stethoscope from his pocket to check Jayden. I bit my lips and was nervous when Kyle didn’t say a word. I was scared, remembering the time he didn’t wake up for a week.

"Uhhh. M-Mireya." He whispered.

I frowned. Is he having a nightmare?

I felt my body trembling. I thought we had moved on from all this. I thought we had already forgotten about the pain of losing our child, but Kyle was right. Jayden was still dealing with it, in his mind.

Maybe he didn’t want to show me because he was worried about Caden and me. He was trying to keep his pain like what he did when his mother died.

"Kyle?" I called my brother’s attention.

He looked at me and smiled.

"His breathing is okay. He’s just having a dream. Don’t worry." He answered.

I was relieved when he said that. Then we were surprised when Jayden suddenly opened his eyes and got up from bed. He sat down on the bed while holding his temple.

"Love? Are you okay? Does your head hurt?" I asked.

He looked at me with a frown on his face.

"Who are you?" He murmured.
