My Dreams Connect to Ancient Times-Chapter 176 - 25: Brother Xuan
At this, Lu Xuan shot him a cool glance, not bothering to speak. Xiaoyan didn’t pay him any mind either. She just shook out her hand and stood beside the young man again, whispering:
"Xiaolu, Xiaolu, that was the Killing Skill Dad just taught me. I’ll teach it to you later, okay?"
She paused, as if afraid he wouldn’t take it seriously, and added:
"This Killing Skill is really powerful. Dad said it’s related to two mythological creatures, the True Dragon and the Vermilion Bird!"
Lu Xuan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Ignoring the stares from the crowd, he gently squeezed Xiaoyan’s hand.
"Alright, Teacher Xiaoyan."
A smile bloomed on Yan Jiangxue’s face, like a gentle spring breeze in the cold autumn air. Many of the watching students were mesmerized.
Not far away, Wu Shangpin, whose hand was broken, stared daggers at the two and asked again:
"May I ask your names? At the very least, let me know who broke my hand, right?"
Only then did Lu Xuan raise his head and say coolly:
"Lu Xuan. If you wish to continue causing trouble, have your father come here."
’Lu Xuan?’
The students in the crowd were baffled, as they had never heard this name. Wu Shangpin, however, froze.
’Lu Xuan...’
「Meanwhile, in the sky.」
One after another, Hovercars descended, and out stepped sophomores and juniors. Most of them were famous geniuses, sparking a flurry of discussion among the students.
From the largest Hovercar stepped a woman. Though her looks couldn’t compare to Xiaoyan’s, she could still be called stunning.
"It’s Wang Zhiyao!" a student exclaimed, then grew puzzled. ’Isn’t the West Gate for new student registration?’
’Why are so many upperclassmen here, and the most famous ones at that?’
’First Wu Shangpin, and now Wang Zhiyao of the Wang Family...’
A commotion rippled through the crowd. After stepping out of the Hovercar, Wang Zhiyao first gave Wu Shangpin and his broken hand a surprised look. Just as she was about to say something, her peripheral vision caught sight of the two people standing quietly to the side.
Her steps faltered. She whipped her head to the side, her eyes locked on the plainly dressed young man.
After a long moment, Wang Zhiyao spoke in a grave voice:
"It’s you... Lu Xuan!"
"Who is he?" Wu Shangpin asked, forcing back the pain. Although the name seemed somewhat familiar, he still couldn’t recall it.
Wang Zhiyao glanced at him, then at Xiaoyan standing beside Lu Xuan. Guessing the gist of what had happened, she said in surprise:
"You weren’t beaten to death? You’re pretty lucky... East Sea City, Lu Xuan. You’ve forgotten?"
She paused, feigning a look of sudden realization.
"Oh, right. You arrived late back then, so you didn’t see..."
The onlookers were all confused. ’Lu Xuan, East Sea City?’
’What’s all this about?’
But among Wu Shangpin and the newly arrived upperclassmen, the expressions of the few geniuses who had been to East Sea City changed drastically.
’That Lu Xuan?’
’The Lu Xuan who pointed his blade at Celestial Humans and Earth Immortals, and cut down the Demon Race’s prodigy, Hou Qingshan??’
A chill shot up Wu Shangpin’s spine. He stumbled back several steps, a sense of relief flooding his heart. ’Thank god, thank god the one who struck back at me wasn’t this murderous bastard...’
’That fucking bastard dared to cut down Hou Qingshan in front of an Earth Immortal Demon King. Of course he’d dare to slaughter me right here in Langya City!’
Just then, Wang Zhiyao strode forward gracefully and said very politely:
"Miss Yan, Mr. Lu, are you two here to register at Langya University? Let’s get acquainted. My name is Wang Zhiyao..."
As she spoke, her gaze remained fixed on Lu Xuan, her expression solemn.
Xiaoyan blinked. She could sense that the woman before her had no ill intent, so she gave a small nod. Wang Zhiyao didn’t mind the minimal response; she had already learned of this young lady’s status back in East Sea City. In terms of nobility, it was far greater than her own.
’Hmph. Wu Shangpin’s bones were broken for nothing.’
At this, a strange expression appeared on Lu Xuan’s face. He also gave a polite nod.
"Hello... isn’t this the new student registration area? Why...?"
As he spoke, he glanced at Wu Shangpin and the other upperclassmen who had just arrived.
The crowd of onlookers also craned their necks, clearly curious about the same thing.
Wang Zhiyao gave a faint smile, neither servile nor overbearing, and explained calmly:
"You two may not know, but we are all here waiting for someone... Speaking of which, Junior Lu might know him as well. He also comes from East Sea City."
She had changed his address term to "Junior Lu," subtly closing the distance between them.
Lu Xuan didn’t think much of it. ’After all, we’re practically acquaintances. It’s just a shame I’d forgotten to take off my disguise back then...’
As he thought this, his expression grew even more peculiar. He gave a light cough and asked tentatively:
"Are you waiting for Wu Xiaoxu?"
"Junior Lu does know him!" Wang Zhiyao said, surprised. "But since Junior Lu didn’t go to the ruins back then, you might not be aware... that person is..."
As she spoke, she recalled the scene, a grave look flashing across her face. Behind her, Wu Shangpin shuddered violently.
The scene of that Wu Xiaoxu casually chatting while slaughtering Celestial Humans was still vivid in her mind.
The expression on Lu Xuan’s face grew even stranger.
At this moment, Wang Zhiyao gave a wry smile.
"He did me a great favor, but I’ve tried to visit him several times without success. So, I had no choice but to try and intercept him here..."
The surrounding crowd seemed to only half-understand. Meanwhile, Tang Yuanyuan shrank back, clutching her phone and whispering:
"Hey, hey, hey, do you guys know anything about that Wu Xiaoxu?"
Piles of bullet comments scrolled by, most of them saying "I don’t know." Only one offered some information.
[I know a little. A close friend of mine once saw him in some major ruins. According to my friend, his description can be summed up in four words: unmatched by his peers!]
"Unmatched by his peers..." Tang Yuanyuan repeated dazedly, her eyes filled with admiration. A sense of anticipation grew in her heart. She wanted to see just what kind of peerless prodigy could live up to those four words!
"Unmatched by his peers" meant being unrivaled in a generation, or even an era... This was high praise indeed!
「Suddenly, in the sky.」
Another Hovercar slowly descended.
"He’s here!" An excited expression appeared on Wang Zhiyao’s face, one she hadn’t even shown when she first saw Lu Xuan.
In her eyes, the young man named Lu Xuan was indeed astonishing. He possessed immense courage, daring to draw his blade on Celestial Humans and Earth Immortals. But Wu Xiaoxu was even more outrageous!
At the Jade Tower realm, he had single-handedly slaughtered nearly all the Celestial Humans who had entered the great tomb!
Under countless gazes filled with anticipation, doubt, or solemnity,
the Hovercar came to a steady stop.
A moment later, a young man with a black mole on his face swaggered out. He naturally exuded an imposing aura, and there was a spring in his step.
Wu Xiaoxu.
He felt the gazes of countless eyes on him but showed no fear, maintaining a powerful stride and a calm, detached demeanor.
"So that’s the direct descendant of an Immortal, Wu Xiaoxu?"
"He really is extraordinary. He looks so powerful!"
"Tsk, tsk, he’s probably going to be the top student of our year. Another legendary figure..."
Amid the murmurs, Wu Xiaoxu’s expression remained calm. Wang Zhiyao, however, shot forward and bowed solemnly.
"Brother Wu, it has been a while!"
The young man paused briefly and gave a calm nod.
"You must be Wang Zhiyao, I presume? There is no need for such formality. This is actually the first time we’ve met."
"Brother Wu, you..." A look of bewilderment appeared on Wang Zhiyao’s face.
The onlookers stared at each other in disbelief. That was Wang Zhiyao, the noble lady of the Langya Wang Family!
’Why... why is she acting like such a simp?’
Just as they were grappling with their complicated feelings, the young man who was the center of attention gave another cool nod.
"Alright, I’m going to register now..."
With that, he casually swept his gaze over the crowd, preparing to walk past Wang Zhiyao.
Wu Xiaoxu’s steps suddenly faltered. ’Hm? Did I just see a familiar figure?’
He glanced to the side and saw the young man and woman standing shoulder to shoulder. He saw the faint smile on the former’s face.
"Xuan... Xuan... Xuan..."
Still baffled and bewildered, Wang Zhiyao looked up in surprise. She saw the previously calm and detached Wu Xiaoxu rush forward like a gust of wind, letting out an inhuman, wailing cry.
"Brother Xuan!!!"
