My Dragon King System-Chapter 279: Of Bossom Old Friends & Slumber Awakening
A blue portal tore open in the void above the moon’s surface.
From it emerged four figures. Aiden flew through first, followed by Thyron, Orlien, and Thera.
The portal sealed shut behind them as they descended toward the landscape below.
Gaia noticed them immediately and her face lit up with hope with her green eyes brightening as she watched the group land.
Umgadi beside her remained expressionless and Orion was only relieved to see that Thera had succeeded.
The group touched down on the moon’s surface as Dust rose briefly around their feet before settling.
Thyron and Gaia moved toward each other at the same time.
"Gaia," Thyron said, with a warm smile crossing her face.
"Thyron," Gaia replied, bowing her head respectfully before returning the smile.
Then they embraced. Gaia’s arms wrapped around Thyron’s shoulders, and Thyron held her in return without hesitation.
Aiden’s eyes widened in surprise.
He had not expected this, seeing Thyron and Gaia greet each other like dear friends who have missed each other.
The others showed no such reaction. Thera, Umgadi, and Orion all watched the scene without surprise. They knew of the closeness between Gaia and Thyron.
After a moment, Gaia pulled back from the embrace.
"I’m sorry I have to disturb whatever it is you were doing," Gaia said. "But there was nothing else we could do."
Thyron waved her hand dismissively.
"It’s fine," she said. "But I won’t be the one to help you today."
She turned her head and looked toward Orlien, gesturing toward the silver-haired dragon who had already begun stepping forward.
"Orlien will," Thyron said.
Gaia nodded in understanding as Orlien moved past Thyron and stopped before Gaia.
"Show me his body," Orlien said.
Gaia stepped aside and gestured toward Adam’s motionless form lying on the moon’s surface a short distance away.
Orlien walked over to him and knelt beside his body. Her purple eyes glowed as she activated her Dragon’s Sight.
While all dragon sights could through structures and perceive things hidden from normal vision, Orlien’s sight carried a unique function.
She could see into the mind and soul.
Her gaze swept over Adam’s form, peering past his physical body and into the deeper layers of his being.
She saw the tangled threads of the Grail’s magic wrapped around his consciousness and holding him locked in eternal slumber.
After a moment, Orlien turned back toward the others and said,
"I can wake him."
There was relief on Gaia’s face and Even Umgadi’s stoic expression softened a bit.
Orlien gestured toward the group.
"Give me space," she said.
The others stepped back immediately and Orlien’s form began to change. Her body expanded rapidly, her limbs stretched and thickened, and her torso elongated as scales erupted across her skin.
Her massive purple wings unfurled from her back, stretching wide. Within moments, a three-hundred-foot dragon stood before them.
She had taken her dragon form because breaking the Grail’s effect on Adam would require her to be at her fullest strength.
Orlien stretched her clawed hand toward Adam’s body and light purplish glow extended from her palm, flowing downward until it touched his forehead and seeped until it reached his mind.
What she did was simple in concept but immense in execution.
She created a force strong enough to counter the Grail’s effect, a power to counteract against the absolute command of eternal slumber and force Adam’s consciousness awake.
For a moment, nothing happened. They all watched in silence, and then suddenly...
Adam’s eyes opened.
———
Moments had passed since Adam woke, and now he stood in a corner of the moon’s surface, speaking quietly with Umgadi, Gaia, and Thera. Orion stood nearby, with his arms crossed as he listened.
Aiden remained with the dragons on the opposite side. And while they watched the gods, he spoke Thyron by his left side.
"I didn’t take you for someone with friends," Aiden said, referring to Gaia.
Thyron’s expression remained stern. "Friends?" she repeated. "Just Gaia. She is a being with a great mind."
"You speak highly of her," he said.
Thyron’s gaze drifted toward Gaia for a moment before she answered.
"Let’s just say that after countless attempts to create humans, Gaia was the one who truly understood how. While I had the power to do so, I never truly understood the body system behind it. But she understood how intricately the body was designed. And with that understanding she taught to me, I made the humans of Earth."
Aiden nodded slowly. "I see."
At this point, Adam and his children starts walking toward them.
When they reached the dragons, they stopped, and all of them bowed their heads respectfully.
Adam spoke first.
"I thank you," he said. "All of you. For choosing to come to my aid at this time."
He raised his body up and turned his gaze toward Aiden.
"I owe you the biggest apology," Adam continued. "I believed wrong of you and your intentions. Accept my apology."
"Right now we have a common enemy," Aiden said. "The whole focus should be on putting down Samael."
"And that wench wife of mine," Adam added.
Then he extended his hand toward Aiden.
Aiden reached out and shook it.
——
Not long after, The dragons had returned to the Pocket Domain through Aiden’s portal.
Before they had left the moon, an agreement had been reached, and this was, that they would reconvene with the gods after a full Earth day had passed.
This would give both sides time to formulate their plans. The dragons would prepare to face Samael. The gods would strategize against Lilith and her angel son.
When Aiden’s gaze moved across the Pocket Domain, he noticed that Syqora remained suspended in midair and had not moved since they left.
"How long does this usually take?" he asked.
Thyron followed his gaze upward.
"Can’t say," she replied. "But we’d have to wait for him."
Aiden considered that for a moment, then nodded."Alright," he said. "I’ll be back when it’s nightfall on Earth."
He paused, as his expression shifted into something more somber.
"Moreover, I still have to let my wives know. And maybe... perhaps even say goodbye."
Thyron and Orlien both turned toward him. Neither spoke, but they nodded in understanding.
Aiden stretched his hand forward. Another blue portal tore open before him, then he stepped through and the portal sealed shut.
