Chapter 683: Chapter 683: Climbing to Grandpa’s Room to Do Big Things 2

Suddenly, a faint black mist began to emanate from the bedside table.

The black mist emanated from the ring on the bedside table. It exuded an evil aura; anyone could tell it was nothing good, as long as Grandpa wasn’t blind!

The Little Daoist, Su Chaoyang, confidently rubbed her little nose and gave the bedside table a hard kick before scrambling under the bed.

The loud noise woke up Ye Junqing and Ye Xinguang.

Ye Xinguang turned over and asked sleepily with her eyes half-open, "Hubby, what was that noise?"

Ye Junqing lifted his eyelids and turned on the bedside lamp. He looked around but didn’t notice anything unusual. Just as he was about to turn off the light, he suddenly caught a glimpse of the Hetian Jade Ring on the bedside table, emitting black mist.

Ye Junqing sat up so abruptly that he startled Ye Xinguang, who was yawning and trying to continue her deep sleep.

Ye Xinguang also opened her eyes and asked, "What’s wrong?"

Ye Junqing narrowed his dark eyes, staring at the ring on the bedside table. His voice was cautious and deep. "The ring."

"The ring? What about it..." Ye Xinguang looked towards the ring on the bedside table. She saw strands of black mist rising from it, which was very strange. "What’s going on with this Jade Ring?" she asked in surprise. "Why is it emitting black smoke? It doesn’t seem like anything good."

Hidden under the bed, the Little Daoist Su Chaoyang covered her mouth with her little chubby hand, giggling quietly.

Stupid Grandpa, let’s see you not believe me now!

Ye Junqing quickly noticed something resembling a Talisman Paper lying on the bedside table. His handsome brow furrowed. He got out of bed and started pacing the bedroom.

After looking around and finding nothing out of the ordinary, Ye Junqing suddenly bent over and looked under the bed. Sure enough, he caught the culprit.

Ye Junqing’s authoritative voice bore down. "Come out yourself, or should I drag you out?"

A small, miserable sound escaped her. I’ve been discovered!

The Little Daoist Su Chaoyang slowly, reluctantly, crawled out from under the bed, her chubby little face etched with gloom.

Why is nothing going right tonight?

Grandpa must think I was the one causing mischief, deliberately making the Jade Ring emit black mist. He’ll never believe me!

The Little Daoist Su Chaoyang hung her little head, utterly dejected.

Ye Xinguang also sat up. "Little Cutie, what are you doing here?"

The Little Daoist Su Chaoyang burst into tears with a WAAH.

Fearful she wouldn’t be able to produce real tears, the Little Daoist pinched herself hard, and the sudden pain made tears well up instantly.

While crying, she pointed pitifully at the Jade Ring. "Grandpa, you really shouldn’t wear it! Baby isn’t lying! WAAH BOO HOO HOO..."

The sound of the child crying instantly tugged at Ye Xinguang’s heart.

She also got out of bed, picked Su Chaoyang up, and cooed, "Good child, don’t cry. I believe you. Stop crying now, okay?"

"Grandpa doesn’t believe Baby."

Su Chaoyang continued to cry, her sobs twisting Ye Junqing’s heart into a knot.

After crying for a while, Su Chaoyang peeked at her Grandpa. Seeing his brow deeply furrowed, she took a deep breath and wailed even louder.

"WAAH BOO HOO HOO... Grandpa thinks Baby is a deceiver, but Baby isn’t!"

Ye Xinguang glared at Ye Junqing. "You’d better throw that wretched ring away! It looks very ominous. This child is definitely thinking of your well-being. Don’t be ungrateful and fail to recognize good intentions!"

Ye Junqing pressed the bridge of his nose and said, "I never said I didn’t believe her."

Ye Xinguang snorted. "If you believe her, then why did you drag her out from under the bed? This child isn’t sleeping at this ungodly hour because she wants you to take this seriously! She’s afraid that if you keep wearing it, that evil energy will enter your body!"

Su Chaoyang’s crying stopped abruptly, and in her small, childish voice, she added, "Grandpa, it’s bad for the kidneys!"

With that said, she resumed crying, determined to continue until Grandpa’s heart softened.
