Chapter 670: Chapter 670: Visiting to Seek Relatives 1

The young sailor carried Su Chaoyang out of the heavily inspected dock. Standing on the bustling street, he asked her, "Little treasure, how are you going to find your mom and dad? Would you like me to accompany you? I happen to have a half-day off. The freighter won’t leave until tomorrow morning after unloading is complete."

"No need, thank you, Uncle. Xiaobao can do it herself!"

But no matter how he looked at it, the young sailor felt that a child who had never experienced the dangers of society, and was so beautiful, could be kidnapped and sold at any minute.

The young sailor was still uneasy. "How about I carry you to the police station and let a police officer help you find them?" he asked.

"Really, there’s no need, Uncle. Xiaobao can easily escape from human traffickers. I’ve got plenty of combat experience. Put me down, please."

The young sailor put Su Chaoyang down on the ground.

Carrying a small bamboo basket on her back, Su Chaoyang waved to the young sailor. "Goodbye, Uncle."

But suddenly, the young sailor picked Su Chaoyang up again, saying, "This really won’t do. You’re just a child; it’s too dangerous, not okay at all. I must take you to the police station and have a police officer help you find your mom and dad."

The young sailor stood by the roadside to hail a cab. When one finally stopped, he no longer asked Su Chaoyang for her opinion but directly told the cab driver to drive to the police station.

Su Chaoyang pouted her chubby little lips. Alright then.

At the police station, the young sailor explained the situation to the desk officer. "We found this child on the way to Yecheng, on a small island. She said she was kidnapped by human traffickers and managed to escape, ending up on a deserted island. She also claimed that her parents are in Yecheng, so we gave her a lift along the way."

After registering the case, the desk officer said, "Okay, we understand the situation and will take responsibility for helping her find her parents."

"Then I thank you all very much. If you find them, please give me a call to let me know they are safe."

The young sailor wrote down his mobile phone number and gave it to the police, finally feeling at ease.

Crouching down, he said to Su Chaoyang, "Xiaobao, don’t be scared. The police officers are all good people who will protect you and help you find your mom and dad. Uncle’s going to go now, okay?"

The young sailor was quite reluctant to leave.

But Su Chaoyang showed no signs of reluctance, waving her small hand. "Goodbye, Uncle! Our fated connection is over now; don’t miss me too much in the future. It’ll only bring you worry!"

The young sailor’s heart tightened. He wiped away a tear and hurried off, exasperated. Yet, after a few steps, he couldn’t help but turn back for one last look at Su Chaoyang. He continued to glance back until he walked out of the police station. Only when he could no longer turn to look did he hail a cab and head towards the dock.

「In the police station」

A young officer gave Su Chaoyang a bag of snacks to eat and then squatted down to ask her, "Little friend, do you remember what your mom and dad’s names are, or their mobile numbers?"

Su Chaoyang shook her head, her voice childish and sweet. "Officer Uncle, I don’t know! Uncle, Xiaobao needs to pee."

The young officer led her to the bathroom. At the ladies’ room entrance, he let her go in alone. He then stood in the corridor chatting with someone, completely unaware that Su Chaoyang, the little tyke, had slipped away unnoticed while his attention was diverted. The little one left the police station without anyone even realizing it.

After finishing his conversation, the young officer waited for a long time, but the child didn’t reappear. He asked a female colleague to check the ladies’ room, but the child was gone.

Upon reviewing the surveillance footage, they saw the little rascal had secretly left the police station.

Alarm bells rang for the young officer. He immediately followed the trail on the surveillance cameras searching for the child, but after checking everywhere, she had somehow slipped through their fingers.
