My Dragon Baby and Billionaire Husband-Chapter 628: A Scarf-Triggered Bloodbath! 2
Si Mingjing thought for a moment and then added, "Tell the Liang family that if they can provide this photograph, we are willing to pay one million to purchase it. That way, they will be more motivated to search. If they can’t find it within five days, we won’t want it anymore; the million will slip through their fingers."
Fengjue stood beside Si Mingjing and almost laughed when he heard this. The Crown Princess Consort truly understood human nature. A windfall of one million—not to mention Doctor Liang’s grandson, even the other members of the Liang family would probably be willing to help search. Now, with the five-day deadline, they would be even more eager to race against the clock. They would turn the whole house upside down and check every photo in all the computers, not missing any trace or clue! This way, it was much more effective than simply asking someone to search for the photograph!
Fengjue bowed and nodded. "I’ll take care of it right away."
Before leaving, Fengjue glanced at the pile of tulips discarded to the side and asked, "What are you doing with these, Crown Princess Consort?"
"I’m clearing out a plot in the garden for medicinal herbs, so I’m getting rid of these tulips," Si Mingjing explained.
Now, past their blooming period, each tulip plant only had green leaves and no beautiful flowers.
But Fengjue quite liked them. He had recently gotten a girlfriend who particularly loved planting flowers. "Crown Princess Consort, leave them to me," Fengjue said. "I’ll have someone come move them later. Please don’t just dispose of them."
"You like them? Then take them," Si Mingjing offered.
Later, Fengjue indeed called a few guards over. They carefully packed all the dug-up tulips, roots and all, and placed them in the trunk of his car. He planned to present them to his girlfriend as a token of affection. The tulips grown in the palace were of the finest varieties. As someone who appreciated flowers, his girlfriend would surely love them.
「Three days later, early in the morning.」
Si Mingjing had just gotten out of bed and was in the dressing room, picking out suitable clothes for her husband to wear for the day. The weather forecast predicted cooler temperatures today, suitable for knitwear. She chose a beige knit sweater for her husband to layer inside his coat. Very cool and imposing. Mo Yinhe, with his tall stature and model-like figure, looked good in any outfit.
Mo Yinhe casually tied the scarf Si Mingjing had knitted for him and stood tall in front of the mirror. "Very handsome."
Si Mingjing rolled her eyes. "It’s only autumn, and you’re already wearing a scarf. What will you do when winter actually comes?"
Mo Yinhe didn’t care. He just felt that wearing the scarf made him look even more handsome, so he insisted on wearing it—cool and warm.
At that moment, Fengjue knocked on the door from outside.
Mo Yinhe said, "Come in."
Fengjue entered, handing a printed photo to Si Mingjing. "Crown Princess Consort, the Liang family has found the formula."
Si Mingjing took the formula and examined it closely, her phoenix eyes narrowing inscrutably, giving her an imposing aura.
Mo Yinhe gently patted her head. "How is it? Is it the same as the formula Mu Genggeng has?"
"Yes," Si Mingjing confirmed.
This formula was researched and developed by Doctor Liang. It cost him his life, and now Mu Genggeng had somehow benefited from it. It must have been that Doctor Liang gave the formula to Old Master Song, or perhaps Old Master Song had stolen Doctor Liang’s formula. Now it had ended up in Mu Genggeng’s hands, and she intended to use it to make a name for herself. And indeed, she had succeeded.
"Hah! I knew that woman couldn’t compare to even a single finger of my darling, showing off with a formula developed by someone else and pretending to be a genius," Mo Yinhe scoffed, his eyes full of disdain when he spoke of Mu Genggeng.
Si Mingjing put the formula away. "We can’t really say that, though. The cancer and diabetes formulas weren’t developed by me, but they’ve brought me fame and fortune."
Mo Yinhe pulled her into his embrace. "It’s different. From the very beginning, you told everyone that the cancer formula was researched by your master and the diabetes formula was developed by Academician Zhou. Mingjing, you’ve never thought of claiming others’ achievements. My Mingjing possesses true knowledge and ability; she disdains stealing from others." Unlike a certain daughter courting death, who was long prepared to sacrifice the public to achieve her own ambitions.
"You don’t need to worry about this; leave it to me," Mo Yinhe said.
Yet Si Mingjing was quite interested. "Don’t you handle it; leave it to me."
Now that she had this formula, however beautifully Mu Genggeng was smiling, that’s how beautifully she would make her die. Let her smile for now; there’s no rush.
So Mo Yinhe didn’t interfere. He dressed sharply and went to work.
Fengjue followed him out. He knew the scarf was personally knitted by the Crown Princess Consort. From Fengjue’s professional perspective, the scarf wasn’t actually knitted very well, but His Excellency treasured it like a precious gem. This wasn’t the first day he had worn the scarf; everyone in the Undersea Royal Palace Office knew His Excellency was utterly besotted with it. Even in the office, where the temperature was constantly kept at 25 degrees Celsius and not at all cold, His Excellency just couldn’t bear to take it off. If asked, his excuse was always that his neck had been bothering him lately and needed warmth. Not even a ghost would believe that excuse!
His Excellency had even worn that scarf to several events. Now, the fashion-conscious youth of Atlantis were all scrambling to buy similar scarves, wanting the exact same one. Of course, an exact match was nowhere to be found, though high-quality replicas existed. But the high-quality replicas on the market were machine-knit, making them better crafted and far more polished than the one knitted by the Crown Princess Consort! Yet, ironically, because these replicas were so well-made, the trend-followers couldn’t find a ’true’ match; no matter how good the imitation, it still felt like a fake compared to the unique imperfections of the original!
Si Mingjing had heard about this, so seeing Mo Yinhe going off to work again with the scarf, her feelings were indescribable. If the people of Atlantis found out she had knitted the scarf, wouldn’t the whole nation learn of her poor knitting skills? It might even spread to the Mu Continent, and perhaps the other two Undersea nations... By then, the citizens of the entire Undersea World would know her knitting skills were so bad that even replicas looked better than her work! No way! Although this particular scarf was a knitting failure, she resolved that the scarves she knitted for her sons and daughters had to be so perfect that no one could find any fault with them!
As the morning brightened and finding herself with some free time, Si Mingjing took her yarn and knitting needles and went to Grandma Ye’s room to ask for her guidance.
Ye Siyuan also hurried over to join in, enthusiastically volunteering, "Mingjing, I know how! Why didn’t you ask me?"
"How would you know how?" Si Mingjing asked.
"Years ago, I had a crush on a campus heartthrob at our school, and I specifically learned to knit a sweater for him..." Ye Siyuan began, but only got that far before she quickly clapped her hand over her mouth.
But Si Mingjing had caught it all. "You mean, before you liked my brother, you actually had a crush on another guy?" she teased.
"Mmm, you mustn’t tell Si Lisao!" Ye Siyuan pleaded. Who didn’t crush on a campus heartthrob or two during their school days? But Si Lisao absolutely could not find out about this, especially not that she had knitted a scarf for someone else! she thought, then threatened Si Mingjing, "If you dare tell him, I’ll obliterate you!" Her tone was incredibly fierce!
However, Si Mingjing had already sent a message to her brother.
A moment later, Si Lisao sent Ye Siyuan a message. His tone was unreadable from the text: "I hear my fiancée knows how to knit?"
