Dong Xin Yan didn't know how long she had slept. When she woke up groggily, there was already some light coming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows. She opened her eyes, staring at the unfamiliar environment, dazed for a long while as those fragmented, chaotic images slowly surfaced in her mind.
The intense entanglement of bodies, the man's scorching breaths, every scene that flashed through her mind made Dong Xin Yan's face pale a little more.
She shook her head vigorously, unwilling to recall these memories, but her eyes unintentionally fell on the red mark on the white bedsheet, and her face instantly turned as white as paper.
Even though she had been mentally prepared, when the loss truly occurred, her heart was still filled with tiny stabs of pain, as if pierced by thousands of needles.
However, she didn't have the right to regret.
Dong Xin Yan bit her lower lip hard with her teeth, clenched her hands tightly, struggling to adjust her mood before wrapping herself in the sheet to get out of bed. With trembling hands, she picked up her clothes scattered on the floor and put them on one by one.
As she walked out of the bedroom, Dong Xin Yan immediately saw the tall figure standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows. At this moment, as she looked at his back, there was a hint of resentment in her eyes.
Her purity was meant for the man she loved the most, but now it had been taken by him.
Dong Xin Yan closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and then slowly walked forward, stopping three steps behind him. She carefully chose her words before speaking, "You've gotten what you wanted. When will Ziyang be allowed to return?"
Whether it was an illusion or not, as soon as Dong Xin Yan said this, she felt a heavy sense of oppression emanating from Gu Ningyi. He abruptly turned around, his dark eyes coldly sweeping over Dong Xin Yan, his words as mocking as ever, "Just got out of my bed and you're already pining for your fiancé. Dong Xin Yan, you're quite faithful."
Dong Xin Yan was pierced by his words, her face turning pale. In the past, she could always retort to Gu Ningyi's mockery, but at this moment, she found herself defenseless against this particular jab.
Gu Ningyi looked at Dong Xin Yan's ghastly pale face and trembling body, oddly finding it irritating. He had always taken pleasure in tormenting her, and every time he saw her defeated look, it amused him, but now he felt no joy whatsoever, even experiencing an inexplicable sting in his chest.
Being troubled by that strange familiar feeling all night, he himself had become odd.
Gu Ningyi lifted his eyes and no longer looked at Dong Xin Yan, stepping past her and heading towards the small bar in the room.
Dong Xin Yan stood in place for a while, digesting Gu Ningyi's words. Her hands, hanging by her sides, clenched as she pursed her lips, then she lifted her foot to walk towards the bar as well.
Whatever Gu Ningyi wanted to say, she didn't care. What she wanted now was to know when Ziyang would be able to return.
Dong Xin Yan took a few steps to stand in front of Gu Ningyi, her beautiful eyes staring at him as she continued to speak, "When will Ziyang be let go?"
Gu Ningyi's long fingers held a wine glass, gently swirling it. Upon hearing her words, his movements paused for a moment. Previously, every time he heard the name Ziyang from her mouth, it grated on him, but now it was exceedingly unbearable. So much so that he no longer wanted to hear those words from this woman's mouth.
Gu Ningyi placed the glass on the bar with a soft clink, yet it carried an inherent might that made Dong Xin Yan's heart tremble slightly, stopping her words as well.
