My Disciples are Too Idiotic-Chapter 434 - 299: The Items in the Ruined Temple, Are They Valuable? (Please Subscribe)_2
[Note: Someone once used the Bell to slay an Ancient God, but unfortunately, they were also cursed by the Ancient God.]
Looking at the Bell’s details, several Players’ eyes widened. Epic Quality? At this stage, Players seemed to have started using Handcrafted Equipment and weren’t paying much attention to in-game Equipment. But an Epic Quality weapon was a rare sight indeed. This is practically a lethal weapon! And it was one that could kill even the person ringing it, unless there was a way to avoid hearing the sound.
"Captain, this is good stuff. Surely, some Veteran Players will be scrambling to buy it."
"An Epic weapon? This is my first time seeing one. Not just Veteran Players; some of us New Players who aren’t short on money would probably go for it, right?"
"Too bad it’s somewhat underwhelming, though it’s not entirely without its uses."
"This counts as god-slaying Equipment, I presume? As long as someone is willing to pay, we could make a fortune from it."
"..."
All the Players were clearly tempted. But they were well aware that with their current Power, holding onto this Item would be futile, mainly because it was too impractical. It was useless to them. They were better off selling it.
Hugging Chang’e and Roasting Jade Rabbit turned and asked, "Do any of you know some Veteran Players? We could get a good sum of money for this, or at least a lot of Contribution Points."
"We’re all Newcomers. How would we know any powerful Veteran Players?"
The Rabbit-eared Girl shook her head. "But we can contact them directly. I remember Antarctic Lord. He’s the richest Player. He might buy this, right?" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Hugging Chang’e and Roasting Jade Rabbit nodded. "Then I’ll contact Antarctic Lord and see if he’s interested."
Soon after, Antarctic received the message, which also included the Bell’s description. He had to admit, the Bell was indeed somewhat impractical. But if used well, it might produce unexpected results. Plus, keeping it as a collectible wouldn’t be bad either. Currently, there were almost no weapons of Epic Quality or higher available. This kind of weapon, found in the Wilderness and one that had even slain an Ancient God, should hold some collectible value. Since he had plenty of Contribution Points, acquiring a few more of these unusual Items wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Antarctic messaged, "I’ll take it. How about 5,000 Contribution Points?"
Seeing the message from Antarctic, Hugging Chang’e and Roasting Jade Rabbit immediately agreed and gave him the location. Five thousand Contribution Points! Without lifting a finger, each of them now had 1,000 Contribution Points per person in hand. Nice and easy.
"Five thousand Contribution Points? No wonder he’s The No.1 Capitalist in the Game."
The Rabbit-eared Girl said with envy, "With his fortune of millions of Contribution Points, this 5,000 is like a drop in the ocean to him."
"Alright, no need to be envious." Hugging Chang’e and Roasting Jade Rabbit laughed. "Now’s not the time for envy. If we can find Equipment like this for free in this Mountain Range, why not search for more? Earning Contribution Points this way is much easier than clearing Nightmares."
Indeed. When clearing Nightmares, they had to take turns dying, each death costing 100 Contribution Points. But finding Items in the Wilderness could net them 1,000 Contribution Points per person, easy peasy. Compared to that, the difference was immediately obvious.
"Let’s wait for Antarctic to arrive first, then we can search deeper." Hugging Chang’e and Roasting Jade Rabbit said cheerfully, then turned to check out the rest of the place. In such a large Ruined Temple, there had to be other things. What if we can find more Items? It’s foolish not to take freebies when they’re offered.
Unfortunately, although the Ruined Temple seemed large, after a thorough search, the five of them didn’t find any other Items.
"Wait a second, where did Heaven-Reaching Tree go?" Hugging Chang’e and Roasting Jade Rabbit suddenly turned and asked, his expression becoming serious. The five of them had spread out to search the temple, eventually gathering behind the Bell. They should have been able to keep an eye on each other. How had one of them vanished in the blink of an eye, leaving only four? One person missing?
The Rabbit-eared Girl also looked around sharply, trying to figure out what had happened. Heaven-Reaching Tree was the Player from the Tree Demon Race, but now he had completely vanished.
A Large Shark suddenly turned and reported to the others, "Heaven-Reaching Tree, the Tree Demon player, messaged us. He said he encountered something and suffered a forced death."
Upon hearing this, Hugging Chang’e and Roasting Jade Rabbit and the others tensed up. They were all too familiar with forced deaths. That was precisely the Nightmares’ attack method. Could Heaven-Reaching Tree have encountered a Tree Demon? That shouldn’t be possible. This Ruined Temple was only so big. Even if a Nightmare was lurking, they should have seen it. And even if Heaven-Reaching Tree had died, his Corpse should have remained here, yet there was nothing. It was as if a living person had vanished in an instant.
"Everyone be careful! Let’s back out first. There’s something wrong with this temple," A Large Shark said, leading the way towards the temple entrance. The others followed closely, their hearts in their throats. This was too eerie. Seriously, what’s the deal with making a monster-grinding game so horrifying? Damn Game Designer, may your whole family get spooked!
After stepping outside, they all breathed a sigh of relief. They turned back to look at the golden Bell inside the Ruined Temple, remaining silent. The temple felt ominous, and Hugging Chang’e and Roasting Jade Rabbit had no idea what was truly going on. All he could do was message Heaven-Reaching Tree to ask what had just occurred.
Soon, Heaven-Reaching Tree messaged back, saying that while he was rummaging around in a corner, he encountered something and suffered a forced death. A Large Shark gulped. The corner?! "Should we go check it out?" he asked. "After all, we have enough Contribution Points in Hand to try a few times."
Upon hearing this, several of them became somewhat tempted. But in the next moment, footsteps approached, and Antarctic came up with a puzzled look.
"Eh? Didn’t you say there were five of you? How come there are only four now?" Antarctic looked around and asked, "Where’s the other one? Did something happen?"
Hugging Chang’e and Roasting Jade Rabbit quickly explained what had happened, informing Antarctic about the situation in the Ruined Temple.
"Forced death? Looks like there must be some Item involved," Antarctic mused. "If it were something sinister, all of you should have been targeted. It’s unlikely that only he would die while the rest of you are fine." As he spoke, he peered into the Ruined Temple from the entrance and saw the Bell resting on the Offering Platform. It really is Epic Quality. No doubt about that, and its effects match what they said.
Right away, Antarctic transferred the Contribution Points to them, then asked, "There might be another Item inside, one that causes forced death on contact. Are you interested in taking a look with me?"
Hearing this, a few of them were tempted again. After all, they hadn’t known what was going on initially, and after finding out, they had wanted to go in. Now, with Antarctic, a Veteran Player, accompanying them, their safety was significantly increased. But this is an Item that causes forced death and even makes Corpses disappear! It’s practically an ultimate killing tool! If we could sell this, we’d probably get a ton of Contribution Points!
Seemingly noticing the Newbie Players’ thoughts, Antarctic said with a smile, "Don’t get ahead of yourselves. I’m afraid this kind of Item can’t be taken with us."
"Even you can’t take it away, Lord?" the Rabbit-eared Girl quickly asked.
Antarctic shook his head. "An Item that kills on contact? Who do you think could possibly take that away? However, I am quite interested in seeing what it is. Just a look will satisfy my curiosity."
After saying this, he stepped into the Ruined Temple, with the others close behind. According to Heaven-Reaching Tree, he had encountered the bizarre Item in a corner. So, we just need to search the corners?
To avoid accidentally touching anything dangerous, they carefully searched the corners, using branches and Stone Swords to poke through the Weeds and Worn-out Junk. But no matter how they searched, there was no sign of any Item. It’s as if the Bell is the only noteworthy thing here.
"Why isn’t there anything? Could Heaven-Reaching Tree have been mistaken?" A Large Shark turned and asked.
Heaven-Reaching Tree, who had just returned, walked over. He said in confusion, "That can’t be right. I was right here when I touched something and then suddenly died."
Listening to his words, Antarctic gradually fell silent, and then his expression suddenly changed. "Not good! Run! Get out of here now!"
