Chapter 451: Chapter 447 It’s quite normal for an old demon to have a bad memory

At the entrance of the girls’ dormitory.

Zhou Li, tall and handsome, undoubtedly became the spectacle for the many girls coming and going. Thankfully, Brother Nan was standing beside him, accompanied by the inhumanly beautiful Huai Xu, whose sheer attractiveness was enough to dissuade any inappropriate thoughts.

The Dormitory Auntie sat at the entrance, sipping a bowl of spicy snail noodle soup Brother Nan had given her, also smiling and watching the two men.

Normally, she wouldn’t allow boys to linger outside the girls’ dormitory, let alone show off their affection. However, today was different. She not only refrained from sending them away but also seemed to be anticipating the next part of the drama. She even helped Brother Nan scrutinize Huai Xu, who was with Zhou Li, guessing at the nature of their relationship.

"Thank you, Brother Nan."

"When will you guys come back?"

"Don’t know," Zhou Li replied, taking the leave of absence form from Brother Nan’s hand. "Maybe a few days."

"This form can only cover three days. Any more than that and you need the college seal," Brother Nan said, thinking on Zhou Li’s behalf, his fair brows furrowing. "Just fill it out for five days. If the security guard stops you, tell him the two extra days are the weekend and that the academic office says they don’t count. Explain that you’re actually only missing three days of classes. Then, say a few nice words to him... Right, remember to wear a mask and don’t wear the same clothes as last time."

"Got it."

Zhou Li memorized every word Brother Nan said.

Very useful.

It’s too bad the Old Land World is unfriendly to ordinary people. Otherwise, he could have taken Brother Nan with him and introduced him to Sister Hong Ran so Brother Nan could have a taste of some exotic food.

Just then, a tiny shadow suddenly darted out from the dormitory building at a rapid pace, arriving at Brother Nan’s feet in an instant.

"Zhou Ni, how did you get here, MEOW?"

The medium-sized cat looked up, her eyes, as vast as the sea, staring at Zhou Li in what seemed to be delight. "Hurry, hurry! Come inside as a guest!"

As a guest...

Zhou Li felt sad but still crouched down and whispered to her, "No need, we’re about to leave. Lord Dumpling will have to stay with Brother Nan for a few more days. When we return, we’ll come to pick you up."

"It’s not a bother, MEOW!"

He felt even more distressed.

"Where are you going, Zhou Li?"

"We’re going to the Old Land World," Zhou Li whispered, lifting her up so he could speak even softer.

"The Old Land World, MEOW!?" Tuanzi’s eyes widened.

"That’s right."

"That’s Lord Dumpling’s territory!"

"Yes, it is."

"What are you doing there, MEOW?" Tuanzi’s puzzled gaze fixated on Zhou Li as she tilted her head, her little brain filled with question marks. "Aren’t you just a human? Oh, is it Hong Ran who asked you to go? Then you should be careful; it could be a trap, MEOW!"

"We’re going to find Master Ming," Zhou Li whispered. "Thank you for your concern, Lord Dumpling."

"To find Master Ming?" Tuanzi still had her eyes wide open.

"Has Lord Dumpling’s little echo chamber started again?" Zhou Li smiled and poked Tuanzi’s belly.

"Lord Dumpling will go with you!" Instead of responding to Zhou Li’s comment or repeating herself, Tuanzi quickly declared, "Lord Dumpling will go with you to find Master Ming!"

"Huh? Does Lord Dumpling want to go back too?"

"Mhm!" Tuanzi nodded seriously. "That’s Lord Dumpling’s territory!"

"Does Lord Dumpling also want to find Master Ming?"

"Hong Ran is really bad!" Tuanzi still looked up earnestly, which made her look incredibly cute. "But don’t worry, Lord Dumpling will protect you!"

"What does Lord Dumpling want with Master Ming?"

"To play~~"

"Really?" Zhou Li poked Tuanzi’s forehead gently, recognizing a little fibber.

"Yes, MEOW! Do you know the way?"

"Hong Ran will lead us."

"Mhm, mhm..."

Tuanzi’s little head bobbed up and down as if she had received the answer she wanted. With confident assurance, she proclaimed, "Don’t worry if you can’t find it. Lord Dumpling will lead the way for you!"

After she said this, she didn’t forget to emphasize once more, "That’s Lord Dumpling’s territory!"

"Then thank you, Lord Dumpling."

"You’re welcome, MEOW!"

Zhou Li’s smile grew even wider.

He realized that the reason he had been feeling a bit less joyful these past few days was simply because Tuanzi wasn’t around. Just talking with such an adorable little spirit like Tuanzi was a very fun and interesting thing to do. It could elevate his mood and alleviate stress.

Standing up with Tuanzi in his arms, he happened to run into Baozi, who was preparing to leave, and casually greeted her.

"Morning."

"Morning," Baozi responded blankly, then slowly turned her head to look at Tuanzi in his arms and casually asked, "Do you know little trashy too?"

"Yes."

"Oh."

"Are you going to the cafeteria for breakfast?"

"Together?"

"Had it already."

"Oh."

Their dialogue as cousins was highly efficient.

Then, Baozi continued toward the cafeteria—as the cheapest meal of the day, she naturally wouldn’t miss it.

Zhou Li also nodded to Brother Nan. "Then we’ll be off."

"Go on, go on." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

"Okay."

Zhou Li then turned and walked away, holding Tuanzi.

But he quickly noticed that Baozi, who was just a little ahead of him, had stopped and turned around, looking at him with surprise—or more precisely, at Tuanzi in his embrace.

"Where are you taking little trashy?"

"Bringing her back to her owner."

Baozi’s eyes widened immediately, finding this outcome somewhat hard to accept.

Zhou Li didn’t pay her much attention and continued past her, heading towards his dormitory with Tuanzi.

Baozi stood still for a moment. A heavy, anxious feeling settled in her chest; she was restless and at a loss. Having bonded with Tuanzi over the past ten or so days, she had developed deep feelings for the little creature and had grown very attached. The thought of this connection coming to an end left her bewildered, her mind, which had only just begun to mature, drawing a blank.

「Two minutes later—」

Baozi glanced at Brother Nan, who was still chatting with the Dormitory Auntie at the entrance of the dormitory building. She silently returned to the dormitory, preparing to wake up the sleeping Mianmian and Qian Qian to share the news and let them share in the sorrow. This was her way of relieving some of her own sadness, and the efficacy of the relief would depend on the depth of their sorrow.

Zhou Li not only put on a mask but also wore a duck-billed cap, as he was afraid of being recognized by the security guards.

As for the expiration of the leave slip, the guards didn’t make a fuss.

When he reached the school gate, it was already eight o’clock. Zhou Li could hear the faint sound of the class bell echoing from within the school. A sliver of the morning sun hung in the sky, shrouded in mist that turned it white. While the sunlight on his face still lacked warmth, the mist was rapidly thinning. The color of the sky hinted that today would be another sunny day.

Zhou Li took a deep breath. The air was fresh, damp, and cool.

Although the school was closed, people still passed by the gate, so Hong Ran couldn’t send the Ladybug Monster to pick him up. Instead, she used her vehicle from human society—the Bentley Zhou Li had ridden in before. The car was much slower than a flying Ladybug Monster.

Zhou Li walked to the opposite side of the road, turning his back to the school to avoid running into the patrol team, and waited patiently.

"What does the Old Land World look like?"

"It’s fun!" Tuanzi answered.

"It depends on whether you’re looking at the shattered areas or the Demon Kingdom cities," Huai Xu corrected. "The shattered areas are very strange and hard to describe, filled with all sorts of things beyond your imagination. Don’t worry about that. Without other protection, at your current strength, you wouldn’t last two minutes in there before crying for your parents. As for the Demon Kingdom cities... well, you should find them very pretty, like something out of an Aladdin story."

"Desert wastelands?" Zhou Li frowned as he thought, his mind filling with the image of lone smoke over the Great Desert.

"What desert? Are there any deserts?" Huai Xu looked at him blankly, even trying hard to remember. "Does that alien planet have deserts? Isn’t it all huge, huge trees?"

Got it...

Zhou Li silently replaced the lone smoke over the Great Desert with an alien planet covered in primeval forest and looked forward to it privately, with no intention of correcting Huai Xu.

The old monster already had it tough enough.

As a millennium-old demon whose age was off the charts, he had to keep up with modern alien sci-fi 3D blockbusters and children’s puppet shows from forty years ago. The range of genres was vast, and the difference in artistic styles was astounding. So, it was best not to fuss over him mixing up a few names.
