My Demon Friends-Chapter 436 - 432 Lord Dumpling is Doomed
League of Legends is a game about pushing towers to achieve victory.
Ultra Rapid Fire is a special mode within this game. In this mode, the cooldown speed of hero abilities is incredibly fast, and there may even be some additional bonuses. All of this has one goal in mind: to let people have a blast!
So, two special types of players emerged in this mode.
One type, as if they had never won, pushed towers like mad. The other type, as if they had never lost, couldn’t stand to see others push towers. Whenever someone did, they’d criticize them for never having won.
Overall, some players relished fighting and killing in Ultra Rapid Fire, loathing those who sneakily pushed towers. Others reveled in pushing towers and found joy in it. It’s important to note that these two types aren’t necessarily contradictory; there’s a certain overlap between them. For example, Mr. Li felt disgusted seeing opponents frantically push his towers and would type disdainfully that they had never won. However, when he was sneaking towers himself, he was overjoyed. He even imagined the frustrated expressions of his enemies with every tower he took down and chuckled to himself.
Since Mr. Zhou could play only a few heroes and the Sword Saint had been banned, he had to bring out his backup hero.
Garen.
His Rune build leaned toward attack speed and movement speed—semi-tank.
Mr. Li’s hero pool was also shallow, so he picked Little Cannon.
After Huai Xu logged in on a secondary account, the players they matched against were indeed much weaker. Thanks to this, Brother Nan quickly geared up with critical strike items and secured an advantage in her lane.
Once the laning phase was over, they began their grand mission of stealthily pushing towers. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Whenever an opponent’s lane was left unguarded, they’d promptly fly over to push the tower. If someone came to intercept, Little Cannon’s combat prowess was actually quite formidable. If they could win the fight, they’d engage; if not, they’d just jump over a wall and run. Little Cannon wasn’t slow in the jungle, and neither was Garen. Their opponents rarely caught up with them. Even if one enemy hero did manage to catch up, that hero couldn’t defeat them without their teammates.
"There’s no minion wave anymore," Zhou Li said.
"No worries, no worries. Just tank it; you’ve built tanky, you can withstand it," Brother Nan spoke rapidly, betraying her excitement. "I push towers really fast. Just a couple of hits and it’s down."
"Okay." Zhou Li responded and immediately flashed into the tower range, starting to hack away.
Brother Nan also struck furiously.
A tower collapsed with a rumble.
Zhou Li glanced at the map. "The enemies are coming to gank us. Follow me! Let’s hide here, in this bush. See if there’s a ward."
"No ward," Brother Nan confirmed.
"Okay." So the two hid in the bush, silent as mice.
A Zed ran past them. A Volibear flew over their heads, crash-landing with a loud THUMP, but neither champion discovered them.
Zhou Li placed a ward in the jungle. He could see the enemies roaming about, searching for them.
"They might be coming this way. Let’s circle around here and get to that bush," Zhou Li strategized.
"Got it!"
"They’re gone. They probably thought we recalled," Zhou Li said, keeping an eye on the map and making guesses. "The bottom lane is fighting, so they’re definitely heading there. We’ll wait a few seconds and then go out again."
"Okay!"
It was just as he expected.
"Look at you, Zhou Lili! So sneaky!" Brother Nan exclaimed as she and Zhou Li started demolishing an inhibitor tower.
BOOM!
The inhibitor tower fell.
The inhibitor shattered.
Brother Nan and Zhou Li quickly left, setting their sights on another lane.
「Ten minutes later.」
The enemy’s three lanes had collapsed, and their Nexus towers had fallen. Ultra Rapid Fire had progressed to the ’defend the Nexus’ stage.
Brother Nan and Zhou Li came up with another plan. Zhou Li and Huai Xu would attack from the top lane, even summoning the Rift Herald to create a distraction. While that fight was at its most intense, Brother Nan leapt over the wall from the bottom lane as quickly as possible. Disregarding everything in her path, she swiftly destroyed the Nexus.
And with that, the game came to an end.
Looking at the "VICTORY" displayed on the screen, Brother Nan, seated in her dormitory, stretched. The smile on her face was much more radiant than when she had won the previous match.
"Was it fun?" she asked.
"Fun," came the reply.
"You really have some issues; you’re a bit twisted," Brother Nan remarked with a grin. "You just enjoy doing things that make others unhappy. Making others miserable makes you happy."
"Not true," Zhou Li contradicted.
"Next, I’ll teach you another fun thing: ’Fast Jhin.’ How about it?"
"Can that stealth push towers?"
"Everything can stealth push towers."
"Okay."
"Look at you; your heart is so devious..." Brother Nan said.
"How do you play it?"
"I’ll teach you the Runes first; otherwise, you’ll be too clumsy, and we’ll run out of time," Brother Nan said, rotating her neck. "I’m going to wash an apple to eat."
"Okay."
Brother Nan grabbed an apple and casually rinsed it on the balcony. This was already quite meticulous of her; sometimes she couldn’t even be bothered to wash it and would just wipe it on her clothes before taking a bite. She lived by the health philosophy that ’eating dirty keeps you from getting sick.’
CRUNCH!
The apple was crispy, juicy, and slightly tart. It was incomparably delicious, the kind of apple most people wouldn’t normally find.
Just as she sat back down, Mianmian’s gossiping voice reached her ears. "Did you guys hear? Just now, in the class next door—Handsome Zhou’s class—their female class president found a little Ragdoll cat under the building! It’s incredibly beautiful!"
"Isn’t the class leader of the next class a guy?" Qian Qian asked.
"Zhong Xin!"
"That’s the former class president."
"Oh, it’s all the same..."
"Ragdoll cats are so expensive. It must have run away from someone, or she bought it herself," Qian Qian guessed. "Zhong Xin’s family is wealthy. She might have bought it herself and, concerned about her roommates’ opinions, claimed she found it. That way, it also makes her seem very kind-hearted."
"It *was* found!"
Brother Nan involuntarily scratched her ear.
Why did this plot sound so familiar?
But she didn’t pay it much attention. She put her headphones back on and started to guide Zhou Li in choosing Runes and explaining game strategy.
「In the evening.」
After gaming all afternoon and half the evening, pushing towers with Zhou Li in over twenty matches and attracting countless enemies, Brother Nan’s back ached a bit, and she felt generally uncomfortable. She needed to stretch her legs.
She heard that a teacher would be inspecting the dormitories later, so it was the perfect time to empty the trash can and take the bag to the end of the hallway.
It was a good fifty steps away, at least.
As she walked back past dorm room 101, she heard several soft meows from inside, followed by a few girls’ voices. They were talking about how pretty, cute, and smart the cat was.
Driven by curiosity, Brother Nan peered inside to take a look.
The dorm room door was open, and the lights were on bright. A cat sat on a stool in the middle of the room, the center of attention. It was receiving adulation from everyone around but appeared indifferent to the humans’ flattery.
Brother Nan suddenly felt a sense of recognition.
It seemed like there was a time when Zhou Li also held a cat like this. However, that Little Trash Cat was skilled at changing forms, and it didn’t take long for it to shift into a different appearance.
At that moment, the kitten also noticed her.
"Meow?"
The kitten was taken aback for a second and instinctively took a step back.
Quickly regaining its composure, it pretended as if nothing had happened. It shifted its gaze to the other people in the dorm, its large, clear eyes full of stars. A slight meow was enough to make the girls squeal with excitement.
"Meow, meow~"
"It’s really too beautiful!"
"Wow!"
"Whose cat is it? I don’t even want to give it back!"
"Its eyes!"
Pleased by all the praise, the kitten felt a bit smug. However, out of the corner of its eye, it saw Brother Nan still staring. Brother Nan had already stepped into the dormitory.
The kitten immediately became alert, playing along with the humans while keeping an eye on Brother Nan’s movements.
Brother Nan was getting closer...
Closer and closer...
The light cast her shadow on the ground, making her look like a Great Devil King.
The kitten meowed, dropping its earlier aloofness. It instantly jumped onto Zhong Xin, its four tiny paws clutching her clothes tightly, and turned its head to look at Brother Nan in panic.
But Zhong Xin’s reaction was different from what it expected—
"Hello, Brother Nan."
"Heh-heh!" Brother Nan chuckled. "This cat you found... I think I recognize it!"
"Really? Whose is it?"
"It belongs to someone from the Dance Academy; it ran off and got lost," Brother Nan said without batting an eye. "I call it Little Trash Cat. She and I get along great."
"But... it seems really scared of you."
"Not at all," Brother Nan retorted. "See how it’s staring at me without blinking? That’s actually it showing affection. It’s a very spirited Little Trash Cat, so it expresses emotions differently from other cats. Don’t believe me? If I call it, it will definitely respond. Want to bet?"
"Try it."
"Little Trash Cat?"
"..."
"Little Trash Cat!" Brother Nan smiled. "Keep pretending you don’t know me, and see if I don’t give you a spanking."
"Mewl~"
"Meow once."
"Meow~"
"Meow twice."
"Meow~ Meow~"
"See?" Brother Nan spread her hands and looked at Zhong Xin.
"It looks like you really do know each other!" Zhong Xin’s eyes widened. "But how can it understand what you’re saying?"
"That’s what happens when you have a deep connection," Brother Nan said casually.
"Wow!"
"Why don’t you let me look after it for a few days?" Brother Nan felt a bit sorry for Zhong Xin. Zhong Xin had a crush on her own boyfriend but couldn’t win him over, and now she faced the painful situation of having her feelings toyed with by Little Trash Cat. So, Brother Nan decided to help her out. "I’ll check with its owner, let it stay with me for a few days, and then I’ll return it."
"That’s... okay." Zhong Xin reluctantly agreed. Trusting Brother Nan, she didn’t ask further questions or harbor any suspicions, and handed over the kitten.
MEOWW!!
Initially, the kitten tried to struggle. But after Brother Nan glared at it, it quickly realized its predicament and calmed down. Instead, it meowed softly at Brother Nan, which, to some extent, alleviated the last bit of doubt in the hearts of the four girls in dorm 101.
