Chapter 86: Chapter 85: One Week

In the blink of an eye, nearly a week had passed outside the Trial Stele.

The others awoke from their meditation, completely satisfied. Although it had only been a short week, it was better than cultivating outside for two months. They had come here for two reasons: one was to obtain Martial Arts, and the other was to take this opportunity to cultivate properly.

Naturally, they couldn’t let such rich Spiritual Power go to waste. Some Cultivators had even achieved breakthroughs here, which just went to show how great the benefits of this dense energy were.

But now, just as it was almost time to leave, the most crucial person had yet to awaken—Yi Tianyun!

This left them utterly shocked. Yi Tianyun still hadn’t emerged from his state of enlightenment and remained enveloped by the light. He had been comprehending for so long—a full week—while everyone else had gone in and come out in less than fifteen minutes.

There wasn’t much inside to begin with, just a large number of steles. You just had to rely on a bit of luck to find what you were looking for and then come out. It was a rather quick process.

But Yi Tianyun had now stayed inside for a week, leaving them dumbfounded. He was, to put it mildly, an oddball!

"I’ve already woken up from my meditation, so how is he still in a state of enlightenment? Could he have been inside picking Martial Arts this whole time, unable to make a decision?"

"That’s actually possible. But it’s not worth it at all. Is it really that hard for him to choose a Martial Art?"

"Hilarious. It’s a total waste. If he keeps this up, the gate will close soon, and then he’ll be the real fool, trapped inside!"

The other Cultivators all laughed, thinking Yi Tianyun was an idiot. He had spent so long choosing inside that he’d missed the opportunity to cultivate. To not come out and take advantage of such a great cultivation environment, instead wasting time picking Martial Arts... what an idiot.

This was the general consensus, and even Qin Xue and her companions thought the same—that Yi Tianyun was inside choosing Martial Arts. All this time, most people had no idea what Martial Arts were inside, much less that they could enter a trial by breaking the Maze Array.

After all, those who failed had either become imbeciles or died. And if anyone had succeeded, they would have long since lost the eligibility to enter, as the control would have already been claimed by someone else.

"Time’s almost up! Everyone inside, come out now! The gate is about to close!" A voice shouted from outside. The person couldn’t enter, but their voice could still travel inside.

Yi Tianyun’s situation was bizarre, but no one wanted to stay here any longer. Once the gate closed, they would only be able to get out three years later. With their abilities, they couldn’t survive for three years. Forget three years; they’d be dead within one.

They weren’t yet at a level where they could survive without food or water, living solely by absorbing Spiritual Power. Only by reaching a much higher cultivation realm could one achieve such a feat.

"Senior Sister, we’re about to leave. Why hasn’t Elder Yi woken up yet? Could something have happened?" An Ling was extremely anxious. It was almost time to go, and their elder was still unconscious.

Qin Xue frowned. "I don’t know. But looking at Elder Yi’s condition, perhaps he really has entered a peculiar state, or maybe he’s stuck inside. We have no way of breaking through this light... For now, our only choice is to go out and report this to the Great Elder. Staying here won’t solve anything."

The light shining down from the Trial Stele was simply impossible for them to break.

They could only choose to leave. Otherwise, if they were trapped here, Merak Palace’s losses would be even greater. There were seven disciples here, all of them with considerable talent. This wasn’t a matter of being heartless; it was simply that staying here was completely useless. They cast one last glance at Yi Tianyun, then quickly walked out.

As they left, they remained vigilant, wary of whether disciples from other sects might try to attack them.

As it turned out, their worries were unnecessary. For one, rumors were spreading like wildfire that Merak Palace’s underlying power was immense, and no one dared to provoke them. Besides, they had all obtained Human Level Martial Arts; there was simply no need to risk their lives trying to steal them.

The moment they stepped outside, a disciple from the Hua Celestial Sect immediately reported to Sect Master Hua Quan, "Sect Master, Liang Feng... he was killed by that Yi Tianyun!"

"What!?" Sect Master Hua Quan was stunned for a moment, then a murderous light flashed in his eyes. "What happened?!"

The Great Elder hurried over, her heart sinking. ’Just as I thought,’ she mused, ’Yi Tianyun has stirred up trouble again.’

"Sect Master Hua Quan, you can’t blame our people for this," Qin Xue stepped forward and said. "A disciple of your esteemed sect declared that he wanted a life-or-death duel with our Junior Brother. Our Junior Brother accepted, and this was the outcome. Many people witnessed this, including disciples from other sects. They all heard it and saw it. In a life-or-death duel, life and death are personal matters, unrelated to the sect!"

Sect Master Hua Quan’s brow furrowed deeply. Liang Feng was a disciple they had invested heavily in cultivating. For him to die just like that was truly a waste of resources. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"Is that so?" Sect Master Hua Quan asked his disciple, his voice grave.

"Yes..."

"Louder!" Sect Master Hua Quan commanded, his icy gaze fixed on his disciple.

"Yes!" the disciple shouted.

"Useless trash! Since it was a life-or-death duel, Liang Feng died because he wasn’t skilled enough." Sect Master Hua Quan sent the disciple flying with a slap and said coldly, "Now, apologize to the Great Elder of Merak Palace!"

"Yes, Sect Master..." The disciple scrambled to his feet, clutching his swelling cheek, and said to the Great Elder, "I’m sorry. It was our Senior Brother who was in the wrong first. This has nothing to do with your disciple..."

"My apologies, Great Elder Mo Yu," Sect Master Hua Quan said, his face a mask of regret.

"It’s nothing," the Great Elder replied coolly. She knew Sect Master Hua Quan was only acting this way because he didn’t want to provoke Merak Palace. If Merak Palace hadn’t recently suppressed three major powers, Sect Master Hua Quan would absolutely not have been so accommodating.

Then, Sect Master Hua Quan turned and returned to his place, beginning to take stock of the Martial Arts his disciples had obtained. His eyes, however, were filled with murderous intent. He was suppressing his rage. Regardless of who was at fault, a disciple he had painstakingly cultivated had been killed. How could he not be furious?

"What’s going on? Where is Elder Yi?" The Great Elder looked around, noticing that the troublemaker himself wasn’t present.

"Elder Yi... he’s still at the Trial Stele, comprehending. It’s been almost a week, and he still hasn’t come out of it," Qin Xue said with concern. "If this continues, the gate is going to close."

"What? What did you just say?" the Great Elder asked in astonishment.

"From the moment he started comprehending until now, Elder Yi hasn’t woken up. I suspect he might be trapped inside..." Qin Xue repeated.

"What in the world is going on? That makes no sense. Could he have been picking Martial Arts this whole time?" The Great Elder frowned. "But that’s not right. Although those Martial Arts are decent, they aren’t worth wasting so much time choosing one. Could he really be trapped in there?"

If he was truly trapped inside, it would be a huge problem. There was less than a day left. If this continued, the gate would close, and the next opening wouldn’t be for another three years.

Yi Tianyun’s cultivation wasn’t low, but that didn’t mean he could survive for three years.
