My Computer Leads to an Instance Dungeon-Chapter 185 - 156: Heir 2
Dalia nodded.
"I need a child, and I don't plan on ever remarrying. There are no nobles suitable for me to wed. Those of lower standing wouldn't be a match for the power I'm going to acquire, while anyone too powerful would only try to control me and make me their vassal. Neither is a good fit. Remaining a widow is the most advantageous path for me."
"To escape my current predicament, I must have a legitimate heir. To inherit Viscount Ashton's Territory, the child must be a boy, and he needs the legitimacy of being the Ashton Clan's heir."
Fang Zhen understood immediately.
"So, you want to sleep with me, get pregnant with my child, and then claim he is Viscount Ashton's posthumous son? And after he's born, you'll raise him as the heir to the Ashton Territory?"
he asked.
"You really are quite clever. You're also tall and strong—a child of ours would inherit those fine qualities." Dalia's face was already flushed from the wine.
Dalia wrapped an arm around Fang Zhen's neck, her gaze soft and bewitching. "You'll satisfy me, won't you?"
Fang Zhen gently toyed with Dalia's soft, fair fingers as he considered her proposition.
'If a woman in his own world had made such a request, he would have refused. The fallout would be too much trouble, and he had no plans to get married anytime soon.'
'If he were the one making this offer, he would have considered the child's future and taken responsibility.'
But now, Dalia was the one making the request.
And Dalia's request was actually quite logical.
For one, Fang Zhen's physical characteristics were highly attractive to the women of this world. Life here was much harder than in modern society, so women didn't look for handsome faces in a man, but for strength, height, and power. Genetically speaking, these traits promised superior offspring and a greater chance for the bloodline to be passed down.
Fang Zhen's extraordinary physique in this world, combined with the martial prowess he'd displayed, was more than enough to be physically attractive to a woman like Dalia.
In terms of status, he wasn't a noble. He was something like a Ranger, so he wouldn't vie with Dalia for power. They were already partners, which made him a perfect fit for the role Dalia needed the father of her child to play.
Furthermore, Dalia had to conceive a "posthumous heir" while the timing still worked, right after Ashton's death.
Among the men in the entire Ashton Territory who were a suitable match for her and worthy of being her child's biological father, there were only two: Fang Zhen and Matthew. But Matthew was a Priest—and Dalia's brother.
Despite being the Countess and a noble, Dalia really only had one option: Fang Zhen.
It was a perfect confluence of circumstances. The Countess's request was both extremely rational and a way to satisfy her own desires.
'No wonder Dalia was being so forward.'
Fang Zhen didn't hesitate long before agreeing inwardly.
'Dalia's status as a widow was a bit provocative, but looking at it another way, there was a certain perverse thrill to it, like something out of a particular kind of story.'
'Ever since he'd gotten his life-simulation system, he had already transcended the normal constraints of modern society.'
'The modern world was full of troublesome issues between men and women. How exhausting would it be to live in the Otherworld, still shackled by those adversarial mindsets and values?'
'Besides, if he really thought about it, this wasn't doing Viscount Ashton a disservice.'
'Ashton was already dead, and his bloodline had ended. With Dalia's plan, at least the bloodline of the Ashton Family would continue in name.'
'Dalia was intelligent, rational, and beautiful. She had status and wealth, so raising a child would be no trouble. She could provide an excellent education. Her wanting his child wasn't such a bad proposition.'
Of course, for Fang Zhen, the outcome wasn't important.
What was important was the 'process'.
'This could be considered a form of deep, friendly, and harmonious cultural exchange between the modern world and the Otherworld.'
Fang Zhen smiled, his voice softening and slowing. "So you like me that much, huh? Tell me, what is it you like about me?"
"I like that you're so tall and powerful. Our child would certainly be very strong. Ngh…" Dalia was halfway through her sentence when she felt a large, warm hand touch a place an ordinary man would never see.
Dalia closed her eyes, utterly entranced. The wine glass slipped from her hand and fell to the floor.
Her own hand, in turn, began to explore downwards.
…
「The sky was growing bright as dawn approached.」
Fang Zhen lay in bed, with a completely naked Dalia beside him.
Fang Zhen pillowed his head on one arm, his other hand still wandering over Dalia's body.
Unlike the coarse skin of the foreign women in his modern world, Dalia's body was perfectly smooth.
And as it turned out, his "weapon"—so large and heavy to the men of the Otherworld—was just as large for its women. It was a bit beyond the standard model, to say the least.
Dalia was curled up in the crook of Fang Zhen's arm.
After a moment, she suddenly spoke. "Why don't you stay? Please don't go."
Fang Zhen chuckled. He gave one of her budding peaks a gentle pinch, drawing out a sound that was half gasp, half moan. "What's this?" he said. "Are you planning to keep me?"
"If you're willing, it's entirely possible." Dalia didn't catch his teasing tone and said in earnest, "Stay in the Ashton Territory. With your strength and fighting skills, no one would object to you becoming a Knight. I hold the viscounty and have the authority to invest you as a formal Knight. That would make you a noble."
"Later, if I successfully merge the Ashton, Montagu, and Baron von Territories, I have a strong chance of becoming a Countess in my own right. When that happens, I can pull some strings, and it would be no problem for you to become a Viscount within my domain."
"Please, stay. You'll have a bright future, and I… I'll feel much more secure, too."
Fang Zhen didn't respond directly.
'If he were a native of this world, her offer would be quite tempting.'
'Too bad his future wasn't something that could be constrained by a single Nameless World.'
"There's a kind of bird that has no legs. It only lands on the ground twice in its entire life: once when it's born, and once when it dies," Fang Zhen said, stroking Dalia's hair and borrowing the famous line. "I don't plan on staying in any one place for long, and I don't want to be tied down to a relationship. I only want to see your most beautiful side, not your suffering or your darkness. Just as I'd rather you didn't see my more ordinary facets."
At his words, Dalia said nothing, only hugging him tighter.
'This is getting dangerous,' Fang Zhen thought.
'Not because he thought Dalia wanted to kill him, but because he sensed the Countess was developing real feelings for him.'
'As the saying goes, the path to a man's heart is through his stomach. The path to a woman's heart, on the other hand, is through… a certain sensitive area.'
'Before they slept together, Dalia had been perfectly rational. But afterward, she'd started talking like she was falling in love. She was getting genuinely attached.'
'This was what Fang Zhen feared most.'
'He believed in following his loins, not his heart. Getting emotionally invested was just too messy.'
'Ah, whatever. Best not to overthink it. Just enjoy the moment.'
'Love isn't spoken; it's made.'
Fang Zhen rolled over, pinning Dalia beneath him.
"What are you doing?" Dalia cried out in alarm.
"Morning exercises," Fang Zhen replied simply, before the bird returned to its nest.
Her cry of alarm quickly turned into gasps of pleasure.
…
For the next two days, Fang Zhen remained with Dalia.
By day, he helped Dalia fill the ranks of her army by gathering deserters in the territory. By night, he filled Dalia.
And Dalia, for her part, unlocked an achievement: she was the first to break Fang Zhen's unscathed record.
Across three or four of his "instances," Fang Zhen had rampaged through worlds without suffering a single scratch. Yet on this other kind of battlefield, Dalia's fingernails had raked his shoulder until they drew blood.
Dalia's own mission was a heavy one. She had to conceive within a critical window of time, and to ensure the child was a boy, she had even taken an Extraordinary elixir.
The elixir increased the chances of conceiving a boy, but its side effect was a drastically heightened libido.
As a result, the two of them found themselves making love in many places not typically meant for it.
Two rather absurd days passed in this manner.
Over ninety-five percent of the deserters from the Ashton Territory and the scattered Montagu troops were reintegrated.
Dalia's army swelled to over two hundred and seventy men.
Dalia selected a core of soldiers from respectable families to form her personal guard, then established a legion of one hundred and twenty men.
Dalia prepared to personally lead this legion to the territory of Von Klei.
