My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 781: Baby of Over Six Hundred Months
After so many years of marriage, Zhang Yuxi frowned. "You should think about your own problems."
Little Treasure’s eyes widened. "Me? I’m very well-behaved. What problems could I have?"
Zhang Yuxi began to list them one by one.
"Your problems are huge. Do you ever wash the dishes on your own initiative? How many times has your father had to remind you over and over?" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"Well, that was because I hadn’t finished my homework! Didn’t I do the dishes once I was done?"
"And then there’s your room. How many times has your father told you that a girl should keep her room clean and tidy? Yours is a pigsty."
"It’s not that messy! Besides, shouldn’t my own room be as comfortable as I want it to be?" she retorted. "And I do clean it, just not that often."
"Then there was that night you didn’t come home for dinner and didn’t even call your father. He waited at home for you for two hours!"
"I was wrong about that, and I’ve already apologized to Dad. He forgave me and isn’t angry anymore."
Zhang Yuxi waved her hand dismissively. "Forget it. I can’t be bothered to argue with you. For every one thing I say, you have ten retorts ready."
"Your dad is gone, so from now on we’ll go out for breakfast, and I’ll pick you up from school. As for dinner, we’ll have to cook together."
"Don’t you dare rely on me for everything. If you don’t lend a hand, we’ll be living on air."
When Zhang Yuxi had first married, her culinary skills were barely passable. As time went on, they became an absolute disaster. She had only survived this long thanks to Lin Feng providing for her. If she had to claim a specialty, it was probably boiling noodles.
Compared to her, Little Treasure was even more helpless.
After all, the child wasn’t even ten years old and was pampered by her parents and grandparents. Not to mention her four older siblings. Her cousins doted on her, and even the younger ones like Cai Cai spoiled her. She was truly the family’s treasured pearl, endlessly adored.
Could she cook? Like her mother, she could only make noodles and the like, and her housekeeping skills were just as mediocre.
With Lin Feng gone, they had suddenly lost their pillar of strength.
Pushing her daughter’s antics aside, Zhang Yuxi called her husband, her voice tender.
"Honey, what’s wrong?"
Lin Feng was already in his car, driving back to his hometown.
"It’s nothing. I just suddenly missed my parents and wanted to go spend some time with them."
"Are you sure it’s nothing?"
"Of course, don’t worry. It’s nothing at all. I just simply miss my mom and dad."
Zhang Yuxi was silent for a moment. "Okay then. Make sure you come back soon, okay?"
Lin Feng chuckled, "I will! There are dumplings and other quick meals in the refrigerator. If you really don’t feel like cooking, just call a hotel for delivery."
The family wasn’t short of money. If they put their minds to it, how could they possibly starve?
Meanwhile, Little Treasure also called her father. "Daddy, don’t you want Little Treasure anymore? Am I not your Little Treasure anymore?"
Lin Feng’s heart softened. "Of course, you’re my Little Treasure. Daddy will always love you!"
"It’s just that Daddy suddenly missed Grandpa and Grandma and wanted to go see them. Your uncles live far away, so it’s up to me to visit our parents more often."
Little Treasure said gloomily, "Daddy, I must have done something to make you unhappy."
Lin Feng sighed. "No, Little Treasure is a great girl. Daddy just missed his own mom and dad."
Little Treasure whispered, "Daddy, I’ll be good. Come back soon, okay?"
Lin Feng smiled. "Alright. Help Daddy take care of Mom, and you take care of yourself, too."
Little Treasure readily agreed. "No problem, Daddy. You can trust me."
Lin Feng drove for two hours before finally reaching the old house. The original house in the countryside had been falling apart, so Lin Feng had spent over a million yuan to build a small, modern house and another several hundred thousand on decorations. Such houses were quite common in the countryside; he hadn’t made it particularly unique.
Since then, Lin Dashan and his wife, along with Third Aunt and Second Aunt—four elders in total—had been living here. They got a watchdog and rented a few plots of farmland from old fellow villagers, paying them a yearly fee to grow their own crops.
Third Aunt used to complain of pains here and there with no apparent cause. Now that she was working the land, her back didn’t ache and her legs didn’t hurt. She no longer shuffled when she walked and seemed much more spirited. It wasn’t just her; the other elders’ health also improved, and they took to farming with more and more enthusiasm.
Unfortunately, due to their lack of experience, the harvest was, to put it mildly, a sorry sight. Lin Feng hadn’t even tasted a single vegetable they grew. This year, the four seniors had vowed that not only would they be self-sufficient, but they would even have a surplus. Alas, as the end of the year approached, their slogan was loud, but the results were unimpressive.
By the time he got home, it was already past six in the evening, and the sky had darkened.
"Dad! Mom! Are Second Aunt and Third Aunt here?"
The lights were on in the house. The dog in the yard was tethered and wagged its tail furiously at him.
Lin Dashan came out holding a bowl, delighted to see his son. "Whoa, what brings you here? Did Little Treasure come too?"
Lin Feng replied, "No, she’s at home."
The joyful smile on Lin Dashan’s face instantly faded by half.
"Then what did you come here for?"
Hearing such a disdainful tone, is this really my dad?
Lin Feng laughed. "I came to see you all. Are Mom and the aunts home?"
Lin Dashan walked back inside, bowl in hand. "Those two went back home. They’ll be back in a couple of days."
Lin Feng asked, "Went back? What for?"
Lin Dashan replied, "A relative on Third Aunt’s side of the family passed away, and Second Aunt had things to take care of."
After all, only he and his wife had no younger generation to worry about, allowing them to devote themselves entirely to farming.
Lin Feng followed him inside and bumped into Zhou Cuilan, who was also emerging with a bowl.
"Where’s Little Treasure? Where is she?"
"Little Treasure didn’t come," Lin Dashan said. "It’s just him."
Zhou Cuilan’s eyes widened. "Why didn’t Little Treasure come?"
Lin Feng sighed. "Today is Sunday. She has class tomorrow on Monday."
Zhou Cuilan asked, confused, "If you didn’t bring Little Treasure, what did you come for? Did something happen?"
Lin Feng’s heart went cold. "Can’t I come see you two if nothing happened? And why shouldn’t I be able to come?"
The couple just said, "Oh," and forced a laugh.
"It’s just that you’re so busy. Have you eaten? Your dad and I had noodles. Want some?"
"Yes, please! Mom, could you make me a bowl of noodles?"
"You’re a grown man, can’t you make them yourself?"
Lin Feng paused for a moment before playing his trump card. "No! I want noodles made by Mommy."
Zhou Cuilan looked as if she’d been struck by lightning. "Are you... are you alright?"
Lin Feng rubbed his nose. "Mom, I’m still a baby of over six hundred months. I’m still a child."
Zhou Cuilan, now approaching eighty, couldn’t process it at first. She stared blankly. "You’re... still a baby? Such a big baby?"
Lin Dashan burst out laughing. "He said he’s a baby of over six hundred months."
Hearing this, Zhou Cuilan laughed and playfully thumped her son. "Are you trying to kill me with laughter? Go cook your own noodles."
Lin Feng whined, "No! I want to eat food that Mommy makes."
Zhou Cuilan had no idea what had gotten into her son but couldn’t stop laughing.
"Alright, alright! I’ll go cook noodles for you!"
With that, she headed to the kitchen.
