My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 72
The next day was Saturday. I had made plans with Julian to visit the Empire of Shadows film set.
At 10 AM, I arrived outside the set and called Julian. He came out to meet me and led me inside.
This was my first time visiting a film set.
As we walked through the lot, I asked, "Is there anything I need to do for a set visit?"
"No, it’s just a casual visit," Julian replied. "I’ll have some free time during lunch, and we can grab a bite nearby."
"Sounds good."
Julian took me over to say hello to Director Calloway.
"When do you start filming your scenes?" the director asked.
"Not long now, almost ready. You can watch from the side," Julian answered.
According to Julian, they were shooting some dramatic scenes, so the set was full of large, constructed soundstages, which meant I could watch the action up close. He led me to a spot with a perfect view, where I could see all the actors in action.
Then, Julian went off to prepare for his scene.
Before long, it was Julian’s turn. He was charming and confident, quickly slipping into character as if he had become a completely different person. It was clear that Director Calloway was pleased with his performance.
After watching Julian for a while, I stood up to head to the bathroom.
As I entered, I bumped into someone coming out.
"Vivienne? What are you doing here?" Isabella asked, her brows furrowing and eyes flashing with disdain.
"I’m just here for a visit," I replied casually. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"A visit for who?" she scoffed.
"Of course, I’m here to visit you. I wanted to see how you were after I made you so angry yesterday," I said, flashing a smile.
Isabella sneered. "I knew it. Your status update yesterday was aimed at me. So, tell me, did you see my status update that night? How do you feel knowing Alexander secretly came to see me?"
I smiled, keeping my expression calm. "Stop fooling yourself. Do you really think you can fool me? Do you know why Alexander’s keeping things from me? If you were really that confident, why bother posting things just to provoke me?"
Isabella’s face changed slightly.
"Vivienne, would you dare bet with me?" she challenged.
I remained silent, and Isabella’s expression turned smug. "Not going to say anything? Afraid? Deep down, you know you’ll lose if you bet with me."
"I’m doing just fine, so why would I bet with you?" I replied nonchalantly. "By the way, I just got back this morning from the Blue Lagoon Resort with Alexander. We spent the morning soaking in the lagoon. And you should know, he’s a bit... persistent in that area, always taking his time. Oh, and he also mentioned that when you two were dating, he never actually touched you. Isn’t that right?"
I couldn’t resist a little jab of my own. After all, she had been trying to provoke me too.
"Vivienne Sinclair!" Isabella hissed, grinding her teeth.
"Here I am. What’s the matter? What do you want? Don’t tell me he still hasn’t touched you?" I said with a smirk.
"That’s because Alexander respects me! Unlike you, who got with someone without a second thought and used your body to climb your way up. What’s the difference between you and a prostitute?"
"Well, the key difference is we’re married. You’ll forever be his mistress!" I shot back, not backing down.
Isabella’s face darkened, but she didn’t stop there. "So what? You don’t believe me? I could call Alexander right now, and he’d come visit me on set."
She dialed Alexander’s number right in front of me, deliberately putting it on speakerphone, her eyes daring me to react.
"Hello, Alexander," she said, her voice sweet, almost taunting.
"Isabella, it’s me. You still haven’t come to visit me since I joined the set. My scenes are light today—would you come by? We could grab lunch afterward," Isabella said, her tone playful and inviting.
There was a moment of silence on the line.
I held my breath, hoping he would refuse.
Alexander finally responded, "Alright."
I felt a heavy weight settle in my chest, the air around me thick and suffocating. Why wasn’t he worried about the media catching them together?
"Great, I’ll be waiting for you here," Isabella said, ending the call.
Her eyes glowed with smug satisfaction. "Vivienne, I think you’ve figured it out now. Alexander has always been at my beck and call. He doesn’t like you. I’m telling you now, in just a few days—September 20th—I’ll make one call, and he’ll come to me. Don’t believe it? Just wait and see!"
I stood frozen for a moment, the words stabbing at me like a cold, bitter wind.
My wedding anniversary was on my rival’s birthday. It was a thorn in my heart that I couldn’t remove, no matter how hard I tried.
If Alexander chose to spend that day with Isabella, I didn’t know how much more disappointment I could take.
"Just wait," I muttered, my voice colder than I intended.
Isabella walked away, a smug grin plastered on her face.
I stood there for a moment, taking a deep breath before heading back to the set to watch Julian continue his scene.
I don’t know how much time passed, but there was a sudden uproar outside.
Someone entered the set to inform Director Calloway, "CEO Hawthorne is here to visit Miss Isabella."
Director Calloway grabbed the megaphone and called out, "Take a break, we’ll continue filming later."
With that, he went out personally to greet him.
Julian walked up to me. "How’s it going? How was my performance?"
"Pretty good. You really captured the feeling."
It was clear that Director Calloway was also satisfied with Julian’s performance. The scene had gone smoothly without too many takes.
At this moment, a crew member walked in, carrying four bags, each containing four cups of freshly made fruit tea—a flavor that had been all the rage recently.
“Here, here, everyone! CEO Hawthorne’s treat! One cup per person, and if anyone wants more, feel free to grab some outside.”
I let out a cold laugh. Huh, how showy.
Julian brought two cups of fruit tea over to me. He handed one to me and asked, “Are you going to say hi?”
“Go ahead.”
Even if I didn’t go, Julian would still have to.
After all, Julian was the male lead of Empire of Shadows, and Alexander was an investor. He had to make a good impression.
The two of them walked out of the tent together.
Director Calloway was chatting with Alexander.
Isabella stood next to him, her arm linked with his. When she saw me walking out of the tent, she flashed me a provoking smile and leaned her head on Alexander’s shoulder.
Their intimate display stung my eyes. I slowed my pace and hesitated for a moment.
Director Calloway waved at Julian. “Let me introduce you to CEO Hawthorne. This is Julian Steele, who plays Landon Mercer. He’s an incredibly talented and hardworking actor. I wonder if CEO Hawthorne has heard of him?”
Alexander glanced at him and nodded slightly. “I know him.”
Not just know him.
He probably wants to take his wife abroad, too!
“CEO Hawthorne,” Julian greeted.
Alexander gave a faint nod, his gaze falling on me as I lingered behind. “How long have you been here?”
“Not long, just over an hour,” I replied, sipping my drink.
Director Calloway chuckled. “What a coincidence! CEO Hawthorne comes to visit Miss Isabella, and Director Vivienne comes to visit Julian. How about we all grab lunch together? My treat, what do you think?”
“Well then, I must thank Director Calloway in advance.”
“Don’t mention it. We’ll make sure not to be polite,” Isabella said with a smile.
Julian looked at me. “What do you want to eat?”
Vivienne flipped through the menu again. “Foie gras, caviar.”
“Alright.”
Watching their interactions, Director Calloway grinned. “Wow, Julian, you really know her well. How did you and Director Vivienne meet?”
