My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 175
Alexander’s POV
Crash—
Something hit the floor next door, shattering into pieces. A waiter rushed over to clean it up.
Vivienne likes him?!
How could Vivienne like him?!
I placed my hand on my knee, taking a deep breath to calm the storm building inside me. From the next room, I heard Frederick’s voice.
“Ms. Vivienne, are you serious?”
“Of course,” Vivienne replied, a playful curve to her lips as her feathery lashes fluttered. “Why else would I come here alone today?”
Frederick nearly choked on his breath. “Ms... Ms. Vivienne, I still suggest you think this through. I don’t know what it is about me that has caught your attention, but...”
“Is it because I’ve been married before?” Vivienne interrupted him.
“No...”
“You don’t need to worry about that. Alexander’s just not up to it.”
Frederick froze, his mouth hanging open in shock.
“Don’t believe me?” Vivienne continued, her tone suddenly sharper. “I didn’t believe it at first either. Don’t be fooled by his tough exterior; he’s just a paper tiger. He’s had surgery, takes supplements, but he’s just not capable. After three years of marriage, I’ve never had a real sex life.”
Frederick’s jaw dropped like he’d just been hit with a brick.
I was behind the screen, fuming, my blood boiling.
I couldn’t believe it. I’d let a wolf into my house and shot myself in the foot. She actually liked Frederick—someone she’d only met a few times!
And to make it worse, she was lying about me to win his approval?!
Her audacity was growing by the second.
Frederick was still processing what Vivienne had said when his phone rang.
He pulled it from his pocket, and, unsurprisingly, it was me.
“I’ll take this call outside.”
“Alright, hurry back,” Vivienne said softly, a smile on her lips.
Frederick shivered, stood up quickly, and hurried out the door.
As he walked away, Vivienne’s smile vanished, and her gaze turned icy as she stared at the screen.
She unlocked her phone and played a ringtone, pretending to be on a call.
“Hello, Sophie, I probably won’t be coming back tonight... Don’t worry, Frederick’s handsome and in great shape, so I’m not losing out... Once I get back, it doesn’t matter if he’s broke; Alexander gave me fifty million dollars in the divorce settlement, so I’ll just keep him... If you weren’t planning to come here, I wouldn’t have met him... Alright, talk later, bye.”
Hearing this, I felt the blood rush to my head. My vision blurred, and it felt like my insides were being ripped apart.
She was planning to sleep with Frederick tonight?!
She’d only met him a few times! Did she even know who he really was? Did she know anything about his personality or habits? Was she really just going to throw caution to the wind like this?!
And she was going to use my money to keep him?!
Fck!*
My teeth ground together in fury as I heard Frederick’s surprised voice from the phone, hidden in the bathroom.
“I knew it. She really does like me.”
My face twitched in anger. “Get lost!”
I hung up the phone, stood up quickly, and froze as I saw—
Vivienne standing at the door of the private room, her eyes locked on me through the beaded curtain.
Her gaze was calm, piercing, and sharp. My heart skipped a beat. In that moment, I couldn’t think straight, my mind going blank.
“Vivienne...” I muttered, my thumb nervously rubbing the inside of my sleeve, bracing myself for her judgment.
Vivienne crossed her arms, lifted one hand, and pulled back the beaded curtain. She took a few steps forward, her eyes glinting mischievously as she looked me up and down.
“Don’t tell me you’re here on business? Just happened to be dining with a client?”
I pressed my lips together. “...You figured it out?”
So, Vivienne’s words to Frederick earlier had been deliberate?
“Frederick is your friend, and you’ve been following me this whole time?”
Vivienne’s POV
I always thought Frederick was a bit odd. Though I had my suspicions, Sophie’s words had made me dismiss them—until Alexander showed up at the airport, and my doubts resurfaced.
The reason? His demeanor that day. He didn’t seem like the kind of person who had just arrived in Norway.
And when I made the first move, Frederick’s reaction was anything but affectionate. Some things just didn’t add up.
"Yes," Alexander breathed deeply, answering in a low tone.
He took a slow step forward, his eyes fixed on me with an intensity that made my heart race. "Vivienne, I can’t stay away from you. But I’m afraid that if I appear in front of you, I’ll only make you unhappy. So, I can only watch from a distance..."
So, those gazes I’d felt—those were from him. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
I lowered my eyes.
Alexander had followed me all the way to this distant country, yet he stayed hidden in the shadows, too afraid to approach. All that time.
If it had been me in the past, I would’ve been moved to the point of tears.
But now, all I could think was: what’s his real motive?
Let’s assume what he said was true—that it was because he loved me.
Even then, all I could say... was that it was too late.
"Alexander, we’re divorced now. We need to live our own lives, without interfering with each other. Please, stop this. It’s pointless."
"What’s pointless isn’t for you to decide," he said, his tone calm but unwavering. "You say you don’t want to remarry me, and I don’t expect your forgiveness. All I want is to see you every day, to see you happy. That’s all I need."
His words... Alexander’s sweet nothings came so effortlessly, so naturally, I couldn’t tell if they were genuine or not.
If he weren’t so good at lying, I wouldn’t have been fooled for three years.
Even knowing how skilled he was at deception, part of me still felt something stir inside.
I used to long for those words to come from his mouth...
Now, all I could think was—how many times had he said them to Isabella before finally saying them to me?
At that thought, the last bit of emotion I had left evaporated. "Following me will only cause me more trouble!"
"I’ll keep my distance. I won’t bother you. But where I go is my choice. You can divorce me, but you can’t stop me from loving you."
I was speechless.
So, he was planning on sticking around?
"Alexander, don’t do this!"
He smiled. "Do what?"
"Don’t you have your own life? Why do you have to follow me around?"
"I lost my greatest love. Do you really think I should just go out and focus on other things? Am I even a man?"
He took another step toward me, his lips curling into a dangerous grin. "Vivienne, your courage is growing. What’s wrong with me? Didn’t I get surgery or take supplements? It’s been three years since you’ve had a man..."
I instinctively stepped back. "...I was just trying to test Frederick..."
"I thought you weren’t satisfied with me! Three, four times a night, and still not enough for you..."
I lunged forward, pressing my hand over his mouth, my face instantly burning with embarrassment. "Shut up!"
Alexander easily removed my hand, gently squeezing my palm, a teasing smile still lingering. "I remember one time in the kitchen, you were bent over the counter..."
"Ah—shut up!" I flailed, trying to cover his mouth again.
