My CEO Boss Is A Masked Internet Sensation-Chapter 214: Longest 30 Seconds
Chapter 214: Longest 30 Seconds
(Arata)
On the 27th, the storm finally died down. Asbela and Caysir returned from their leave, and I was glad to have them back.
I could finally step out of the villa, I felt so trapped inside it due to the storm and also because of a certain someone. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
It was also the day I realised my period was late.
My periods were always regular, but recently they were either early or late. Too late for my liking.
This bothered me, and I decided to head out and bring an emergency pregnancy test kit.
No way, I could be pregnant because every time I had sex, preventive measures were taken.
Either, condom or the morning pill. But still something nagged the back of my head, and I wanted to be sure.
Descending the stairs, I let myself out of the villa, and Asbela brought me a mug of coffee.
"Here, it will keep you warm. It’s still very cold outside." She smiled, and I took the mug with an appreciative nod.
Walking away, I let myself into the half-frozen garden. Snow covered the flowering bushes, grass, the pool, and the sitting area.
The skies were musty, but at least the freezing wind had slowed down.
Wrapped in my woollen shawl and thick, comfy socks, I stood under the gazebo with a hot mug of creamy coffee in my hands, trying to stay warm. My cheeks seemed to have frozen over, along with the tip of my nose.
Karsten soon emerged from the villa, and his sharp eyes found me. Taking long strides like the perfect model, he approached me with a grim expression.
"It’s cold outside." His arms folded on his bulging chest, still so prominent under the thick woollen high neck. If he hadn’t been such a jerk and a liar, I would praise him for being smoking hot.
"I am heading out for a while," I calmly answered, taking a sip of my coffee. His lips twitched at my answer as if he wished to keep me a prisoner forever.
"Where?" He asked, taking another step forward.
"Doesn’t concern you. I will be leaving with Caysir, so you don’t have to worry," I tried to answer as calmly as I could, but irritation crept up in my voice.
"I will come along," he said like a petulant child who doesn’t want to be left behind.
My eyes stared at him, cold and full of resolve.
"Absolutely not. I will be back in half an hour," I firmly said, finishing the last of my coffee.
His face tensed. The lack of control always brought out the worst in him.
Caysir had walked out and, thrusting my empty cup in Karsten’s hands, I began to move towards the car.
I knew he must be boiling like the volcanoes on Venus, but I didn’t care.
He followed behind me on quick steps.
Caysir held the door open for me as I climbed in and fastened my seat belt.
Karsten paused alongside Caysir and instructed.
"Keep her safe and stay closer."
"Yes, Sir!" Caysir offered a swift nod and got in the driver’s seat.
The main door opened, and we headed out. Karsten remained standing like a statue, watching us until we disappeared from his line of sight.
"Stop at a pharmacy, I need my calcium supplements," I told Caysir.
"Yes, Miss Arata." His eyes remained on the road, which seemed to have been freshly swept to remove the snow. It still seemed slippery.
"Thank you for the Christmas gifts. My little girl loved the toys." There was genuine gratitude in Caysir’s voice.
"Aww! I am happy to hear that." My eyes wavered outside, and the streets were nothing less than a white haven. People were trying to get back to their daily lives. Sweeping off the snow, clearing the roads, shovelling it from in front of their shops and doors.
Soon we arrived outside a pharmacy and Caysir promptly opened the door for me. Stepping out, I wrapped the shawl tightly around me and grabbed my purse.
"Should I come in with you?" Caysir questioned, closing the door.
"No, it will only take a minute." I didn’t want him to see me buying a pregnancy testing kit. I walked forward, the snow crunched under my flat shoes.
Caysir walked me to the pharmacy and held the door open, but didn’t follow me inside.
I roamed around for a while, grabbing some calcium supplements and then finally two pregnancy testing kits.
My heart hammered and my hands shook at the thought of what I was doing.
’It’s just precautionary,’ I reminded myself, no way I could be pregnant.
Filling my lungs with as much oxygen as I could grasp, I took careful steps to approach the counter. A girl with ginger hair and a soft smile welcomed me.
I returned her smile and handed her the bottle of calcium supplements and pregnancy testing kits.
Without a word, she scanned them for me and told me the amount. Placing them in a brown bag, she handed them to me.
"Thank you!" I warmly offered, and she smiled again.
I used my card to pay and shoved the brown bag into my purse before heading out.
Caysir was waiting for me.
"Home?" He asked, and I offered a nod.
We arrived back in no time, and I observed that Karsten was pacing the living room while Camilla calmly sat sipping tea and eating lemon cakes.
His wild eyes seemed to light up seeing me return as if I had been gone for days.
"Arata! Glad you are back. He was going crazy," Camilla heartily laughed, enjoying his misery.
"I wasn’t. Just didn’t want her to go alone," Karsten quickly tried to defend himself, seeming flabbergasted.
"I just needed some air after being cooped up because of the storm," I answered with a huff. My eyes took in his sharp features, and my mind automatically wondered about the scenarios of how he would react if he were to discover I was pregnant.
Which I was not, but my mind still conjured up scenarios.
"Ignore him, he likes to be in control of the lives of the people he loves." Camilla waved it off as if that was nothing. "Come have some tea and these delicious cakes." She invited me.
"Actually, I need to use the restroom really quickly. Save some for me." I flashed her a smile while the pit of my stomach had an uneasy feeling.
"Sure, go ahead." Leaving Karsten and Camilla downstairs, I headed up. Placing my bag in the closet so Karsten wouldn’t even accidentally see it, I grabbed one of the kits and proceeded to the bathroom after removing my shawl.
The kit had a plastic cup, gloves and a stick. Wearing the gloves, I grabbed the cup and proceeded to pee in it. Then, picking up the stick, I lowered it into the half-filled cup till the black marking on the stick.
Taking it out, I held it in my hand and proceeded to place it on the sink. Moving away, I discarded the pee and the cup.
Instructions said, half a minute, and I knew those 30 seconds were going to be the longest ones of my entire life.
