My Borderline Supervillain-Slash-Hero System-Chapter 89 Barking Orders
Chapter 89: Chapter 89 Barking Orders
Zane was satisfied with his new law.
With a mere thought, it returned to his body, settling between the boundary of black and white within his mana core.
"The Solar Thread’s grade is already S-Rank... and there’s still room for improvement," he mused, a rare hint of joy in his voice.
Then, he sat down and began meditating.
The day passed quietly, with him devoting his time to studying the intricacies of the Solar Thread law.
The next morning, Zane woke up to find Shelby already there, watching him while licking bone marrow paste off his greasy fingers.
"Yo, good morning," Zane greeted with an amicable smile. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
Shelby tossed a bundle of five cards toward him and said, "You can call out Erlin. Tell her big brother Shel did a real good job this time."
Zane glanced over the cards and chuckled.
"I haven’t even got my Aerial or Water Driving Licenses yet. And she already has hers."
"Erlin," Zane called telepathically.
In the next instant, motes of darkness mana emerged from the back of Zane’s left palm, and Erlin materialized in the flesh.
The moment she appeared, both Shelby and Zane noticed the change in her aura and appearance.
"What?" Erlin asked flatly, noticing their stares.
Zane blinked. "You’ve already broken through and formed your mana core?"
Erlin smirked, clearly pleased. "Yep. I’m now a One-Star Vamp."
With a sneer, she revealed a glint of her newly grown fangs. Both boys shuddered instinctively.
Seeing their reaction, she giggled.
"How? That was fast!" Zane asked, surprised.
She explained, "Yeah, I know. All I can say is... it’s all thanks to living inside your book—or should I call it the tattoo? The mana in there is incredibly potent and primal. Whenever I practice mana absorption, my comprehension of bloodline techniques shoots up. Honestly, it’s multiple times more effective than cultivating outside."
Shelby clapped. "Congrats, little girl. And for that good news, I have a gift for you."
He snatched the bundle of cards from Zane and placed it in Erlin’s hands.
She examined each card curiously but couldn’t make sense of the texts printed on them. All she noticed was that her picture on each looked rather decent.
She glanced up at him, still clueless about their importance.
"Welcome to the Human Civilization of Earth," Shelby said dramatically. "With those cards, you can go anywhere on this planet."
She still didn’t seem to understand.
Zane leaned in and whispered, "What are you waiting for? Thank him for the gifts."
Erlin sighed lazily. "Thanks."
Shelby smirked. "I also have something for you," he said, turning toward Zane.
Zane raised a brow. "What?"
Shelby reached into his coat and pulled out a silk pouch.
Zane felt like things were just getting better and better for him. He reached out eagerly to take the pouch.
But Erlin was one step faster.
She darted in, faster than the wind, and snatched the pouch out of Shelby’s hand.
"This is mine," she declared without hesitation.
Zane awkwardly retracted his hand.
"Of course, that’s for you," he said, forcing a smile.
Shelby glared at him before turning back to Erlin, his thoughts racing.
Was that her newfound speed after forming a mana core? That’s quite fast... even I couldn’t react in time.
He kept his expression neutral, but deep down, he was impressed.
Erlin kept a cautious distance from them, fearing they might snatch the pouch away.
Shelby ignored her and asked, "How’s your progress in developing your law?"
Zane smiled. "You’ll be shocked."
"Oh my god!" Shelby exclaimed. "You already created your law within a day? How is that even possible?"
He began muttering to himself, "Am I wasting my time running around like a monkey all this time? This kid... no logic can explain this."
Composing himself, he then said, "Why don’t we have a match?"
"Yes, I’d love to test my law against yours. Shall we go somewhere isolated? I bet your punch with that spark law can’t freeze me anymore."
Shelby narrowed his eyes. "Boy, we’ve spent a fortune staying in this hotel. And this Sunflower Hotel is made for Awakened like us, so naturally, there’s a training hall somewhere in the building. We can go there."
Just then, a long growl echoed.
Shelby looked around.
"I swear it’s not me," Erlin said quickly, her face slightly red.
"I know." Shelby turned to Zane. "Why don’t we visit the mess hall on the way and have some breakfast?"
Zane nodded.
Erlin clung to his arm and said sweetly, "My poor husband... you must’ve been starving all this time."
She shot a glare at Shelby. "You brought us here. Why did you let him stay hungry all this time?"
Shelby opened his mouth to argue, but Zane winked at him, silently telling him to let it go.
"Yeah-yeah," Shelby muttered, "it’s all my fault for keeping him hungry."
The three of them walked out of the room.
It was only a three-minute walk before they entered the luxurious dining hall. Many patrons and matrons were already there, enjoying a lavish breakfast.
Shelby sat at an empty table, and the other two followed.
He and Zane grabbed the thick menu books and began studying them intensely.
Then, they began barking orders.
The once calm atmosphere of the hall boiled into chaos.
Other guests turned to stare at them with confused or amused expressions.
Erlin, being a girl and new to the culture of this world, quickly sensed something was off. She picked up a napkin from the table and shyly covered her face.
The two men kept ordering dishes for the next seven minutes.
By then, ten waiters stood around them, frantically scribbling down the mountain of orders.
"Anything more to add, sirs?" one waiter asked politely.
Both men paused, pondering seriously.
Zane was the first to speak. "Whatever we’ve ordered, bring everything for my wife, too."
"No," Erlin said in a sheepish voice. "Just one order will be enough for me."
Shelby burst out, "What are you talking about, little girl? This isn’t your world. You follow everything we do."
Zane nudged him and warned, "She’s new to this. Let her be."
Then, he turned to the waiter and said, "Keep everything coming. And tell your chefs to start making new dishes. Go—chop, chop, chop—we’re famished."
