Chapter 9: Forging

It was nighttime.

After having a deep discussion about how Rashin was able to kill a fallen one, Eri finally surrendered to her tiredness and fell asleep.

Meanwhile, Rashin, who still didn't understand the new power he had gained, remained outside, keeping watch just in case another fallen one showed up.

Lying on the ground right in front of him was the corpse of the fallen one he had killed.

While it was true Hakias could not be killed or damaged, there were still some exceptions to the game.

For starters, there had been instances when a Hakia lost its ability to regenerate for a limited time. This was something the king of the humans had discovered.

Stabbing the heart of the monster would cause it to lose its regenerative abilities temporarily. In this moment, humans would damage it as many times as they could, eventually leaving it in a state where it couldn't move.

Killing it.

But even then, the monster's body would be absorbed into the surroundings, only to be reborn again.

And yet, the Hakia Rashin had killed didn't seem to be going anywhere.

Rashin sighed, his gaze focused on the blue aura leaking from his body.

'I should be happy. These damn monsters can finally be killed; it's something humans have dreamed of accomplishing, and I have it. So why... why am I so angry about it?'

Rashin clenched his fist. 'If I had this power back then... could I have saved her?' he thought to himself.

[The system is eager to share its information with you.]

The notification suddenly popped up.

Its glowing golden aura instantly drew Rashin's attention.

'This was the same screen that appeared in front of me when I got slammed into the tree. It was after it showed up that I got this strange energy around me.'

Rashin glared. 'Tell me, what type of deity are you?' he asked.

[I am deity.]

"A god?"

[I am no god.]

"Then what exactly are you?"

[I am born from the world to assist you in your journey as the Carrier.]

'Carrier?'

Rashin was sure he had heard that title somewhere before.

[Right now, you have three abilities that already set you on the perfect journey.]

Three different screens popped up, each containing details specifically chosen for Rashin.

[Blacksmith System: This skill gives you direct access to anything relating to or similar to your blacksmith class ability.]

[Appraisal: This skill allows you to appraise anything and absorb its qualities for yourself. Note: this doesn't work on living things or anything greater than you.]

And then, the last screen glowed.

[White Cell Aura: This skill allows you to generate a poisonous aura capable of killing immortals and anything with the authority of immortality.]

That was it...

Rashin's eyes widened upon realization.

"This was why I was able to kill that Hakia."

[You also have three blueprints.]

{Short Knife}

{Long Spear}

{Semi Sword}

This 𝓬ontent is taken from freeweɓnovel.cѳm.

Each slot carried a blueprint of a weapon.

[With blueprints, you are able to craft weapons for use without having to start from scratch. All that is needed for a successful craft are the right materials.]

'Materials?'

[Yes.]

[After defeating an enemy or making important actions, you will be rewarded with materials that can be used to forge the blueprints. Right now, you have 15 iron ore, five bronze alloy, and six steel ingots.]

As the system listed out the items, a holographic image of each material danced before Rashin's eyes.

[Would you like to forge your first weapon?]

Rashin was curious, his eyes glittering with thirst.

"Sure."

[Request confirmed. Please select a blueprint.]

Rashin clicked on the short blade—his love for daggers was unrivaled.

[You have chosen the (Short Blade) blueprint.]

[Materials needed for successful forging: (Iron Ore x1 and Steel Ingot x1)]

[Shall I proceed?]

"Yes."

[Initiating forging...]

[Congratulations, you have a new weapon: Short Dagger.]

The hologram of the blade hovered in front of him.

[You may now summon your weapon for use.]

Rashin stared at his hand, visualizing the weapon forming before his palm.

And just like that, the blade appeared.

Unlike the blade he had upon his awakening, this felt more like a real weapon, having the texture and look of metal.

Additionally, Rashin could now see the stats of the blade.

**{Name: Short Dagger

Durability: 100/100

Ability: Swift Attack

Compatibility: 120}**

Rashin smiled a bit. 'This feels similar to a game. Quite nostalgic.'

[You are ready to embrace your destiny.]

"I don't know about destiny. That said, if this power is supposed to be the weakness of the Hakia, then you bet I'll embrace it."

With that, Rashin steeled his mind.

---

**The next morning.**

Eri walked out of the tent, meeting Rashin sleeping while sitting on a tree log.

'Wow, he really did sleep out here. Such a weird guy.'

Eri let out a small chuckle before stepping outside completely.

She made her way toward him, gently sitting on the log, her eyes focused on the sleeping Rashin.

Observing him for a while, Eri smiled a bit. 'Now that I take a closer look at him, he really is ridiculously good-looking. How can anyone possibly believe he is a demon?'

As she thought that, memories of what happened at the church resurfaced—from how she was humiliated to how she blew up the whole place in order to escape.

Her blissful expression faded.

'Honestly, I still find it hard to believe that happened. I've never seen the Head Priest react like that before.'

She looked at Rashin. 'A man who has no blessings. Were people from the past really that different from the people of now?'

Eri gently raised her hand, moving it closer to Rashin's head.

Just when she was about to make skin contact—

Rashin woke up.

He grabbed her hand, spun her to the ground, then summoned his blade, aiming it at her chest.

It happened so fast that Eri barely had time to process her shock.

"Ah—Priestess, it's you. Why are you sneaking up on me?"

Eri could only breathe heavily while looking at him.

"Are you alright? You look like you've seen a ghost."

Eri closed her eyes, her annoyance rising.

"GET OFF ME!!!" she yelled.
