Chapter 16: I'm stronger.

"Here you go..."

Eri said as she placed two thousand eres on the counter for the lady.

In her hands were bags, each filled with different clothes she had gotten for herself.

"Thank you for shopping with us," replied the receptionist as she gently packed the money into her box.

Eri wasted no time; she immediately moved closer to Rashin while carrying her bags in her hands.

"Rashin, look! I got all the dresses, hehehe..." She giggled while raising the bag for him to see.

At first, Rashin stared at the bag. Later on, he looked at her—

"Did you spend all your money on this?" he asked.

"Why would I spend all my money on clothes..." She laughed. "I left 500 eres for lunch."

Rashin couldn't help but do a facepalm.

He and Eri had split the 5000 eres they earned from selling monster parts to the guild. And in less than a day, Eri had spent almost all her share.

"I do not know much about this new world's economy, but I do remember you saying 500 eres was barely enough for one person."

Eri was quiet, her eyes almost bubbling up. "W...w... I thought we were going to split yours..."

Rashin's face immediately turned into that of disgust as he pointed at her. "It's best you go return some of those clothes because I am not giving you anything out of mine."

"Why notttt?!"

"We both got our share. It's not fair for me to give you mine. Don't be selfish."

Eri moved closer. "Come on, I don't even eat that much."

"Oh really? Then the 500 eres should be enough for you. Let's go."

He walked out of the store.

Eri stood there, contemplating whether to return the dress she had bought. Her female instinct got the better of her. She nodded her head and ran after Rashin.

Walking behind him, she asked,

"You know we still have to spend the night somewhere. I don't plan on sleeping in some dirty bush again."

Rashin sighed. "I thought you said you'd handle everything."

"That was before I spent 2000 eres. Now I don't know what to do!" she cried.

Rashin took a quick glance to the side. "I don't particularly feel hungry. Perhaps we can rent a place to spend the night with my share."

A smile formed on Eri's face. "Really?!!! You mean it?"

"You're acting weird. Are you alright?"

"Telling a woman she is acting weird is so not romantic."

Rashin sighed. "I am not romantic. We've spoken on this before, priestess."

Eri puffed her cheeks. "I am not..."

Rashin suddenly stopped.

"Rashin?"

The expression on his face was not the same expression she was used to.

No, he was angry. That look in his eyes—he wanted to kill.

Rashin clenched his fist.

'Just now...' he said to himself, his rage building up. 'I know what I sensed!'

He immediately turned around, his eyes scanning the moving crowd around him.

'There is no mistaking it! That was a fallen one!'

Eri moved closer to him. "Rashin? What is wrong? You're seriously scaring me."

He suddenly stretched his hand to the side, allowing his dagger to appear in his grasp before he turned his gaze to Eri, his eyes glowing with a deep blue hue.

"Go away from here! I sense fallen ones nearby!" he yelled and then boosted forward, running through the crowd of people.

Eri was shocked, her hand stretched out as she tried to stop him.

She remembered something.

Before they left the forest, she was sure Rashin told her he could not sense the fallen ones, not until he came in contact with them.

'He can sense them without contact now? No, that shouldn't be my question... The fallen ones... are in the midst of so many people?'

Eri now carried fear on her face.

"Rashin..."

Meanwhile, Rashin was running, his eyes making sure he scanned every single individual he passed.

'Where?! Where are they?! I can't be wrong! This energy, it's coming from two people!!! How dare they walk amongst humans? I'll kill them! Both of them!!!'

He ran... and ran... and ran... until...

He spotted one of them walking towards a dark alley while the other took a different route.

"Found you!!!" Rashin yelled, ignoring the gazes pinned on him.

With a single step, he boosted forward, focusing on the individual still walking in the midst of people.

"Ahhh!"

Rashin slashed his dagger at the individual from behind before twisting his body and landing a few distances in front of the said individual.

People who watched all began to panic. One by one, they began to hide inside the shops they were close to.

Yet, the said individual, who should have dropped dead to the ground after being slashed on the back, remained standing.

He was dressed in an office suit, thus it was easy for people to see the green blood dripping from his back.

"Oh... that's strange... Is this... pain?"

The individual stretched his hand to the back, getting a bit of his blood on his fingers.

"Am I bleeding?" he asked out loud.

Rashin suddenly pointed his blade at the individual. "Hey! Asshole! Call your boyfriend here! Right now! Let me deliver divine judgment on your rotten soul!"

The fallen one raised its head to look at Rashin.

"You were able to determine what I am? And even damaged me. What are you, human?"

"Rashin Montero. And I will be the one to eradicate your kind from the face of the world! Starting with you!"

The fallen one frowned. "I asked you a question, you damn human! How are you able to hurt me?!!!"

Rashin took a stance, his back lowered a bit. "Prepare yourself."

The fallen one bit his lower lip in anger as the injury on his back began to heal, though not completely, as the black streaks seemed to be fighting with his regenerative abilities.

"Damn you! How can I be getting talked down to by a fucking hu—"

Rashin, with a single step, had arrived in front of the fallen one.

"Because I am stronger."

He said and then clenched his fist.

Baam!
