My Beasts Grind Proficiency For Me-Chapter 125 - 30: Artifact Refining Skill
Yang Jing walked up to Ji Feng’s stall and picked up a Magical Artifact to examine.
As a former player in the Nine Heavens World and a Shopkeeper at the Celestial Treasure Tower for over two years, his eye for quality was naturally first-rate and sharp.
In his hand was a Treasure Saber, a little over three feet long. The blade was straight, narrow, and sharp, with a slightly curved tip and a false edge. Feather-like patterns covered the blade’s surface, giving it a magnificent appearance, like the feather of a wild goose.
It looked more like a work of art than a deadly weapon.
Yang Jing gripped the saber and practiced a few moves from the Saber Technique of his True Yang Body. Although the blade wasn’t forged to his specific build, it still felt incredibly natural in his hand. It cut through the air with a crisp sound, its spine perfectly straight and true.
Most of the Magical Artifacts on Ji Feng’s stall were similar to this saber—blades, spears, swords, and halberds, a complete arsenal.
Most of these Magical Artifacts were simply forged from Profound Iron and Profound Copper. While the materials were ordinary, the craftsmanship was superb, making them premium items among Tier One Middle Grade artifacts.
Yang Jing sighed.
"Junior Brother Ji Feng, these Magical Artifacts of yours will be very difficult to sell within the Sect."
While Yang Jing was testing the saber, Ji Feng pretended to be sitting cross-legged in Qi Cultivation, but Yang Jing was certain he’d stolen several hopeful glances his way.
His eagerness to sell his Magical Artifacts was plain to see.
"Hmph! Even if some mediocrity wanted to buy my Magical Artifacts, I wouldn’t sell to them!"
Ji Feng snorted, his tone filled with disdain.
Yang Jing didn’t rise to the bait.
"First of all, most disciples of our Five Elements True Spirit Sect come from wealthy families. Furthermore, they face a deadline: if they fail to enter the Inner Sect within twenty years, they are doomed to remain in the Outer Sect for life. They have no interest in Tier One Middle Grade Magical Artifacts. If they were to lose the Outer Sect Grand Competition by a narrow margin because of an inferior artifact, wouldn’t they regret it for the rest of their lives?"
Hearing this, Ji Feng’s face turned pale, but he forced himself to maintain an air of indifference in front of Yang Jing.
"Secondly, Junior Brother Ji, most of the Magical Artifacts you’ve made are suited for Body Cultivators who need to wield weapons in combat. The disciples of our Five Elements True Spirit Sect are mostly known for their Magic Techniques. Artifacts that can amplify the power of Magical Power are much more popular." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Yang Jing placed the Treasure Saber back on the stall and said,
"No matter how long you display these Magical Artifacts, Junior Brother, you’ll find it nearly impossible to sell a single one."
Hearing this, Ji Feng swayed, struggling to hide his distress.
"Junior Brother, you didn’t spend all your savings on Spiritual Materials, hoping to make it all back here at the Grass Market, did you?"
Seeing his reaction, Yang Jing couldn’t help but ask.
At these words, Ji Feng finally broke. His nose tingled, and he burst into tears.
The other disciples at the Grass Market who witnessed this scene all wore strange expressions.
Ji Feng quickly rolled up the Magical Artifacts on his stall and fled, covering his face.
Yang Jing fell in behind him, walking at a leisurely pace. He followed him to the edge of the Grass Market.
"Senior Brother Yang, why do you keep following me?!"
Ji Feng spun around, his expression wary. A faint Five-Colored fiery glow appeared around his body. ’Back in my clan, I was warned that some Noble Sons have a preference for catamites. Someone like me, with an attractive appearance after Transformation, needs to be especially careful.’
"Junior Brother, I want to partner with you in the Magical Artifact business."
Yang Jing said calmly.
"After seeing the Magical Artifacts you’ve forged, I realized you have extraordinary skill in Artifact Refining. The only reason your business is so dismal is a flaw in your strategy. If you work with me, earning a small profit of Spirit Stones will be no problem at all."
Ji Feng looked dejected.
"But Senior Brother, didn’t you say that only Tier One Upper Grade Magical Artifacts sell in the Sect? My Magical Power is still too weak, and I lack the Spiritual Materials to practice. I can’t possibly refine an Upper Grade Spiritual Artifact."
Among the Five-Colored Kun Chicken, the vast majority had far inferior Talent compared to him. They couldn’t command the Five Elements True Fire like he could. While life in the Five Elements True Spirit Sect was worry-free, advancing in cultivation was extremely difficult for them. They could only rely on occasional support from clan members who had formed a Spirit Contract with a True Disciple.
The Spiritual Materials Ji Feng used for Artifact Refining had been painstakingly saved up by his clan.
He saw Yang Jing’s confident expression and realized he wasn’t going to just give away his method for earning Spirit Stones through Artifact Refining.
Ji Feng thought about how Yang Jing had effortlessly earned more Spirit Stones with his Three-Headed Guardian Beast than he himself could hope to earn in ten years. Gritting his teeth, he made a decision.
"Senior Brother, I’m willing to refine artifacts for you. You supply the Spiritual Materials and handle the sales. I’ll take just a ten percent share of the profits!"
Seeing Ji Feng was so quick on the uptake, Yang Jing was very pleased.
"Ten percent is too little. I don’t want others to say I’m exploiting you. Let’s make it fifteen percent."
As soon as he finished speaking, he saw Ji Feng’s Affinity rise by five points, reaching twenty-three.
Yang Jing was immensely satisfied.
"Junior Brother, come with me."
As he spoke, he led the Profound Phoenix over to the Outer Sect disciple who was selling Secret Technique Manuals.
The Outer Sect disciple had clearly received a hefty commission from Dong Yushu and was beaming with delight.
When he saw Yang Jing approaching, his expression immediately turned wary.
"Junior Brother, let me be clear. The sale was final. No refunds."
Yang Jing was speechless.
"Senior Brother, you can relax. I’m here to give you more business. I was wondering if you have any manuals on the Artifact Refining Technique."
When the Outer Sect disciple realized it was a potential sale, his smile returned.
"Oh, so that’s it! You should have said so earlier, Junior Brother. I have plenty of Jade Scrolls on Artifact Refining Technique. I even have some with Refining Techniques for Tier Two Spiritual Artifacts."
As he spoke, he took out more than twenty Jade Scrolls from his Storage Bag.
Ji Feng quickly grabbed Yang Jing’s arm.
"Senior Brother, my clan already found me a copy of the Celestial Craftsmanship Book. I’m not lacking any Artifact Refining legacy."
His words immediately made the Outer Sect disciple anxious.
"This Junior Brother is mistaken. As far as I know, the Celestial Craftsmanship Book is an Artifact Refining legacy from ten thousand years ago. Its contents are completely outdated."
The Alchemy, Artifact, Talisman, and Array Four Arts were the four most mainstream skills in the Nine Heavens World. After tens of thousands of years of development, they had long since evolved, with new innovations emerging constantly.
As a Demon, Ji Feng’s perspective was still too narrow; he only thought about saving Merit Points. If he had been able to pick out an Artifact Refining manual from the Library Pavilion, he wouldn’t be in such a sorry state.
Yang Jing paid no mind to their conversation. He examined all twenty-something Jade Scrolls before picking one up.
"I’ll take this one. The ’Basic Artifact Refining Collection’."
The Outer Sect disciple was a bit surprised. He hadn’t expected Yang Jing to choose the most basic Jade Scroll.
This Jade Scroll had been compiled by a group of Artifact Refiners organized by the Celestial Treasure Tower thirty years ago. Though basic, its contents were detailed and modern, making it perfect for aspiring novices to get started in Artifact Refining.
He had stocked a batch of them thinking that some Cultivators within the Sect might want to learn Artifact Refining.
"That’ll be ten Spirit Stones."
After paying the Spirit Stones, Yang Jing handed the Jade Scroll to Ji Feng.
Ji Feng curiously read the contents of the Jade Scroll and found that it was indeed much more modern than the Celestial Craftsmanship Book. Some of the Refining Techniques and Restrictions weren’t in the Celestial Craftsmanship Book at all.
’But the Magical Artifact blueprints recorded in this Jade Scroll... some of them don’t even qualify as Tier One Lower Grade. Can they really be sold?’
