Chapter 564: The Mysterious Past (1)

Seeing the Yin Mirror sitting around the white jade round table in the garden, the Yang Mirror called out, "Wife, I’m back. What are you doing here?"

The Yin Mirror heard her husband’s voice and stopped cultivating. Opening her eyes, she saw him approaching.

Noticing the moon’s position, she poured herself a cup of spiritual tea and asked, "I was cultivating just now. Have you done your work?"

"Mhm."

Sensing her usually talkative husband’s sudden quietness, the Yin Mirror asked, "What’s wrong?"

The Yang Mirror sighed, sat beside the Yin Mirror, and replied, "Wife, the girl wants to see the past."

Hearing this unexpected answer, the Yin Mirror paused briefly before lifting her teacup and taking a small sip.

After a moment of silence, she said calmly, "It’s not uncommon for mortals to be curious about their past. Husband, which past does Fairy Bai want to see?"

The Yang Mirror poured a cup of spiritual tea for himself, then shook his head. "She hasn’t told me yet. I came back this time just to see if you could help."

Placing the empty teacup down, the Yin Mirror stood up. "Husband, let’s visit Fairy Bai."

Seeing that his wife had already stood up, the Yang Mirror nodded and held the Yin Mirror’s hand. Without standing up, he waved his hand.

Instantly, the two of them turned into golden particles and dispersed in a gentle gust of wind.

Appearing in Bai Hanyun’s bedroom in the modern world, the Yin Mirror scanned the simply decorated room with interest.

"Where is this place?" she asked.

Leading his wife to the arhat bed, the Yang Mirror replied, "This is the girl’s bedchamber."

After getting the answer, the Yin Mirror paused in her tracks.

Noticing her slightly changed aura, the Yang Mirror looked back at his wife and asked in confusion, "Wife?"

Pulling on the Yang Mirror’s hand, the Yin Mirror said, "We should leave before Fairy Bai finds out. It’s really presumptuous for you to break into a young lady’s bedchamber without permission."

Noticing the slight dissatisfaction in her tone, the Yang Mirror didn’t dare to defend himself and obediently followed his wife out of the bedroom.

When Bai Hanyun finished her shower fifteen minutes later, she didn’t see the Yang Mirror in her bedroom.

"Where did he go?"

After casually drying her hair with a towel, Bai Hanyun went downstairs. She searched the kitchen, then the backyard. Still unable to find him, she went to the living room.

When Bai Hanyun found the Yin Mirror sitting beside the Yang Mirror, watching a drama with great interest, she paused for a second before saying, "Yin Mirror, you are here."

Turning to look at her, the Yin Mirror stood up and bowed. "Greetings, Fairy Bai."

Bai Hanyun smiled and replied, "Please, no need for formalities. You can treat this place as your home."

"Thank you, Fairy Bai."

Gesturing for her to have a seat, Bai Hanyun took a seat on the single couch.

After everyone sat down, the Yin Mirror said, "Fairy Bai, my husband mentioned that you wish to look into the past. May I ask which part of your past you want to see?"

Bai Hanyun hesitated for a moment before asking, "If it isn’t my past... can I still see it?"

The Yin Mirror stared at her in silence. After a brief pause, she said, "Fairy Bai, peeking into another person’s past will bring heavenly punishment. Have you made your decision to bear this punishment?"

Bai Hanyun let out a long sigh and shook her head. "I’m not sure. Did the Yang Mirror tell you the reason I want to see the past?"

The Yin Mirror glanced at her husband, who was watching the drama as if the world no longer concerned him, then looked back at Bai Hanyun.

Shaking her head, she replied, "My husband only said that you wished to look into the past."

Bai Hanyun had already expected this answer, especially after hearing about the heavenly punishment. "I see."

Seeing Bai Hanyun’s furrowed brows, the Yin Mirror said, "Fairy Bai, I won’t ask about your reason, but if you want to see another person’s past, you will need that person’s personal belongings."

Hearing this, Bai Hanyun slumped back against the couch and said with a hint of disappointment, "Too bad. I don’t have any of his personal belongings. Tonight was my first time meeting him, yet I feel a strange closeness and familiarity toward him."

The Yin Mirror pondered her words before saying, "Fairy Bai, although I can’t show you his past without a personal object, I can help you find the source of that familiar feeling."

Bai Hanyun’s eyes lit up. "Really? What should I do?"

Sensing her eagerness, the Yin Mirror reached out her hand and gently instructed, "Please place your hand on mine."

Following her instructions, Bai Hanyun placed her hand on the Yin Mirror’s palm.

Seeing this, the Yang Mirror turned off the screen and cast a barrier around Bai Hanyun’s house.

While he was guarding the two of them, the Yin Mirror gently guided Bai Hanyun. "Fairy Bai, focus your mind and think about the first time you met that person. The more detailed, the better."

Bai Hanyun nodded and recalled her meeting with Pei Jianyuan at Tian Chuang Hotel.

When Pei Jianyuan’s image appeared in her mind, the Yin Mirror formed a hand seal. A split second later, a small golden formation appeared in the air between the two of them and then floated toward Bai Hanyun’s forehead.

The moment the golden formation disappeared into her forehead, Pei Jianyuan’s image slowly broke apart into golden particles before vanishing completely.

Bai Hanyun suddenly opened her eyes and stared forward blankly.

Still holding her hand, the Yin Mirror took out a writing brush and drew a talisman on the back of Bai Hanyun’s hand. Afterward, she tapped the talisman with the tip of the brush.

As the talisman lit up, an unfamiliar scene appeared in Bai Hanyun’s mind. It felt as if she were watching a movie.
