My Antique Mirror Is A Portal To Another World-Chapter 550: It’s Not That Simple
Bai Hanyun stepped into the command room and noticed Hua Yuyu and the others crowded around Wu Jun, staring intently at the large screen on the table.
"Brother Hua, what are you guys watching so intently?" she asked curiously as she approached them.
Hearing this, Hua Yuyu looked away from the screen. Seeing Feng Xiyan, Zhan Qi, and Tuluo Cheng also arriving, he said, "Miss Bai, you are here. You guys came at the right time. We are observing the Jin Empire army right now."
At his words, Feng Xiyan exchanged looks with Zhan Qi and Tuluo Cheng. Seeing the same curiosity in their eyes, they followed Bai Hanyun and stood behind Wu Jun.
The moment their gazes fell on the large screen, they couldn’t help but be amazed by the modern world’s technology.
Standing beside Hua Yuyu, Bai Hanyun watched the military drone’s camera footage intently. Seeing that the Jin Empire army showed no signs of panic or defeat, she rubbed her chin thoughtfully.
While they were observing the Jin Empire army’s movements, Wu Ruizhan maintained an expressionless face.
Riding beside him, Zhong Zi’an glanced backward but didn’t see anyone following their army.
Frowning slightly, he turned to Wu Ruizhan and said, "Great General Wu, it seems Feng Xiyan didn’t send anyone to chase after us."
"Mhm," Wu Ruizhan hummed in response. "It would be strange if he did."
Not understanding his meaning, Zhong Zi’an asked, "Great General Wu, what do you mean by that?"
Instead of answering directly, Wu Ruizhan asked, "General Zhong, didn’t you notice anything earlier?"
After pondering for a moment, Zhong Zi’an shook his head. "Please forgive this subordinate’s lack of observation."
Wu Ruizhan looked at the brightening sky in silence for a brief moment before saying, "General Zhong, we all know that the Yurong Border Pass Garrison has been attacked before."
"Since we can still see the aftermath of that mysterious attack, the situation inside the garrison may not be better than what we see from the outside."
"Judging from the bloodstains on the ground, Feng Xiyan and his army must have suffered heavy losses, making it difficult for them to confront us directly. Otherwise, why would he use those bright lights that caused no harm to us instead of directly attacking us?"
After listening to his explanation, realization flashed in Zhong Zi’an’s eyes. "So that’s why they didn’t send anyone after us."
Now that he understood the situation, he said, "Great General Wu, since we have the advantage in numbers, shouldn’t we attack them before we run out of rations?"
Shaking his head, Wu Ruizhan replied, "It’s not that simple. Those bright lights might not be the only thing they have. To fight them without finding out their true strength is just courting death."
After saying that, he lifted his gaze and looked directly at the military drone flying high above his head.
In the command room, Bao Shengjie exclaimed, "My God! He actually noticed the drone!"
"General Wu is famous for his military strategy and keen observation. It’s only natural that he noticed it," Feng Xiyan said calmly.
While they continued observing, Wu Ruizhan looked away from the military drone and added, "Although Feng Xiyan didn’t send anyone after us, he is observing us right now. We will talk after we return to camp."
"Yes, Great General Wu."
After that brief conversation, they traveled for two more hours before finding a suitable place to set up camp.
Looking at the barren land, Wu Ruizhan calmly ordered, "Set up camp and serve the meal. Gather for a meeting after the meal."
Clasping their fists, the generals responded in unison, "Yes, Great General Wu."
After receiving the order, the generals went to carry out their tasks.
While everyone was busy, Wu Ruizhan lifted his eyes and stared at the military drone.
As he continued watching it without moving, back at the Yurong Border Pass Garrison, Wu Jun asked, "Captain, should we continue following them?"
"How long can the battery last?" Hua Yuyu asked.
"Captain, the military drone can be charged by solar power and electricity. Since it’s already sunrise, there won’t be any battery issues."
Hearing this, Hua Yuyu ordered, "Continue monitoring them."
"Yes, Captain."
Just as he finished speaking, Hua Yuyu noticed Bao Shengjie staring at him eagerly. After a brief silence, he said helplessly, ".... You can help Wu Jun."
Bao Shengjie’s eyes lit up at his words. "Thank you, Brother Yu!"
Without wasting a second, Bao Shengjie went to the cabinet, chose a military drone, connected it to an unused large screen, put on the vision goggles, and turned it on.
With practiced ease, he skillfully controlled the military drone out of the garrison and toward the Jin Empire army.
Just when they thought nothing would happen, Wu Jun suddenly cursed in a low voice, "Damn it!"
It was very rare for Wu Jun to curse, so he instantly drew everyone’s attention. When they looked at the screen, they saw an incoming arrow aimed directly at the camera.
Meanwhile, far from the Yurong Border Pass Garrison, Wu Ruizhan watched as the military drone dodged the arrow nimbly. Before the arrow even hit the ground, he grabbed another from the quiver at his side.
In less than a second, he loaded the arrow, aimed at the drone, and released it.
Swish!
Seeing another arrow approaching at high speed, Wu Jun’s eyes flickered coldly. With a slight movement of his fingers, he controlled the drone to dodge the arrow and switched it to automatic mode.
As the military drone hovered above Wu Ruizhan’s head, Wu Jun typed a series of commands on his keyboard at a fast speed.
Glancing at one of the laptop screens, Bao Shengjie’s eyes widened as he recognized the commands.
He reached out and grabbed Wu Jun’s hand. "Brother Wu, calm down! You can’t blow them up without permission!"
Glancing at Bao Shengjie, Wu Jun said coldly, "Let go."
Shuddering at his cold tone, Bao Shengjie quickly released him and raised his hands.
