My Amnesic Ex Married My Sister, So I Married His Uncle-Chapter 90: Who Asks About Serious Business at a Time Like This
First, Stella nodded obediently. "I understand."
Once Owen’s expression softened, she asked, "What are you doing here?"
"And you have the nerve to ask?" Owen gave her an exasperated look. "Ariana called me."
That wasn’t actually true.
Stella was a grown woman. He couldn’t restrict her movements, so it was inevitable that she would come to the Qillian Club sometimes.
Besides, she had a best friend like Ariana.
That’s why he had instructed Julian Chandler long ago to keep an eye on all his venues, especially the Qillian Club. If Stella ever showed up, Julian was to inform him immediately.
Julian, of course, had agreed to Owen’s order without a moment’s hesitation.
So, the moment Stella and Ariana walked into the Qillian Club that night, Julian received the news.
Julian wasn’t at Qillian that evening. After getting the message, he had his men find out who Ariana was with and what they had ordered before he rushed over.
Sure enough, Ariana, living up to her reputation, had ordered four male models.
When Julian arrived, Ariana was happily chatting with the four pretty boys and even took the opportunity to flirt with him as he entered the room. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Julian had already messaged Owen to tell him Stella was at the Qillian Club, and Owen had said he would come get her. So, Julian quickly dismissed the four men.
But before Owen arrived, he received news that Stella was missing.
As he and Ariana were searching for her room by room, Ariana suddenly received a message from Stella with a room number. The two of them rushed to find it.
In the meantime, his men sent over the surveillance footage from the hallway, along with the order details for the room number Stella had sent.
They were making trouble for him, so of course he was going to make them bleed some cash.
So, Julian immediately decided to use Chase Sterling to boost his sales numbers.
He hadn’t expected to hear from his men so soon that a huge order had been placed in the room.
As soon as he heard, he guessed Stella had come up with the same idea he had.
’Since Stella was capable of secretly setting a trap, she probably wasn’t in any real danger.’ So, he had someone find him a disguise, went into the room to play along with Stella, and sent Ariana to the entrance to wait for Owen.
Stella knew she had worried him that night, so she didn’t say a word as he toyed with her hand in the car.
She had thought Owen had calmed down, but later that night, she learned that appeasing him required other methods.
Stella was so exhausted she couldn’t even lift a finger. In her drowsy state, Owen was still whispering in her ear, "What are you going to do next time you run into trouble?"
The answer had been etched into her very bones by Owen. Curled up in his arms, Stella mumbled, "Call Owen..."
Owen was satisfied. He added one last thing, "And if you forget, I’ll punish you."
Thanks to Stella and Julian’s combined efforts, Chase Sterling ended up paying the exorbitant bill for the private room.
After Chase paid, Julian added cheekily, "We look forward to your next visit, esteemed guest. Spend another 1.3 million here within a month, and you can become a VIP member!"
Chase’s mouth twitched. ’Who the fuck cares about your membership!’
As for the man who had accompanied Felix Hollis to the restroom, he initially thought he’d been lucky enough to be forgotten. He never imagined it was simply because he was too insignificant for Owen to bother dealing with him personally.
Before having him send the passed-out Felix back, Julian said, "You like being Felix’s little follower, don’t you? Fine. From now on, you’re responsible for bringing him here to drink every night. And you have to check in. If you miss a day, I guarantee you’ll be in worse shape than Felix is right now."
As for Felix now, his face was fine, but his body was covered in bruises. He reeked of alcohol, and he looked so out of it that if he were to vomit while passed out, he might choke to death.
So, for every day that followed, the two men reported to the Qillian Club, drank themselves into a stupor, were sent home, and returned to do it all over again the next day.
No normal person could withstand that much drinking.
To make matters worse, the Hollis Group also ran into some trouble around that time. After hearing a few things from his father, Walter Hollis, Felix understood what was happening.
Even so, he didn’t dare ask his father for help. If he did, his dad would find out he was the one who had caused all this trouble.
The whole affair was only considered over two weeks later, when Felix was hospitalized with a bleeding stomach from all the drinking.
...
When Stella woke up the next day, Owen was still gone.
She rubbed her aching thighs and lower back, and went downstairs for lunch.
Ken worked quickly. By mid-afternoon, Stella had received a non-disclosure agreement from Vantage Entertainment.
She went to the kitchen for some fruit and saw Mr. Joel preparing what looked like gifts.
Mr. Joel made no effort to hide them from her. Stella saw imported fruits and some health supplements for the elderly.
Seeing Stella’s curious gaze, Mr. Joel explained, "Ma’am, these are for Mr. Rhodes. Tomorrow night is the Rhodes Family’s monthly dinner. The master may not attend, but these gifts must be delivered."
That’s when Stella remembered. In her daze the previous night, Owen had seemed to mention something about it.
At the time, Owen had said she could go if she wanted to, but it was fine if she didn’t.
’What kind of person talks about serious business at a time like that!’
She was starting to see it now. Owen never intended for her to go in the first place.
’He’s probably still thinking about that time Mr. Rhodes showed up at our door,’ she thought.
She called Owen as she headed upstairs to change.
Owen was in a meeting at the time. All the senior executives watched as the man, who one moment was sharply pointing out flaws in a report, held up a hand to pause the speaker, his eyes softening. He then walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window to take the call.
"You’re awake?"
Stella felt Owen had the wrong impression of her. ’I don’t sleep this late every day, you know?’
Then again, whose fault was it that she had slept in so late!
She just hummed in response and asked, "Owen, the Rhodes family dinner is tomorrow night, right?"
"Yes. What about it?"
"Are we going?"
"It’s up to you," Owen said.
"We should go. You can’t just refuse."
Before, she hadn’t cared about the internal dynamics of the Rhodes Family. But now, she was Owen’s wife. She couldn’t remain ignorant about family matters; that would be a disadvantage for him.
Besides, she was faintly looking forward to making her official debut with the Rhodes Family.
Kiana Sterling and Ethan Rhodes were also looking forward to the Rhodes family dinner.
