My Amnesic Ex Married My Sister, So I Married His Uncle-Chapter 54: Your Handwriting Is Quite Similar
Gavin Sterling’s expression finally softened a little when he heard that.
"Where is she?"
"Lanthos Bay."
Gavin Sterling’s brow furrowed.
He knew of Lanthos Bay. It was a high-end residential complex developed by Kyros, which also used its own property management company. The place was famous for its high level of privacy and comprehensive security system.
It was no surprise that Joel Joyce couldn’t get in.
Gavin Sterling commanded, "Then you will go stake out the entrance to Lanthos Bay! You’ll wait there until Stella Sterling shows up!"
Joel Joyce lowered his gaze. "Yes, sir."
Just as he finished speaking, Chase Sterling happened to open the door and walk in.
As Kiana Sterling’s older brother, Chase should have attended the engagement party tonight.
But something came up unexpectedly, so he could only send Joel Joyce to help out at the event.
For a while now, Chase had his eye on a new energy vehicle project and had been wanting to invest.
At first, he couldn’t get his foot in the door. Later, he managed to establish a connection through Ethan Rhodes.
The negotiations were initially going smoothly, but during the days Kiana Sterling and Ethan were in Lumina, the project started running into frequent problems.
Tonight, Chase had finally managed to get the other company’s CEO to dinner, hoping to secure the project over drinks. However, the CEO was an old fox; the entire meal ended without him giving a clear answer.
On top of that, he heard that there had been problems at the engagement party today as well.
’Nothing is going right!’
He collapsed onto the sofa, wearily rubbing the bridge of his nose.
Gavin Sterling asked him, "How’s the project going?"
Chase clicked his tongue. "I’m working on it."
"Hmph. You’ve been ’working on it’ for a long time. Maybe they have no intention of cooperating with you at all and are just stringing you along. I told you before, it’s too late to get into that game now."
Chase grew angry hearing Gavin Sterling’s gloating tone.
But he was his father, after all, so he couldn’t show too much of it. He closed his eyes and asked casually, "Then what do you suggest I do?"
"Either give it up and stick to what you know—our core business isn’t failing—or find another way in. Not to be critical, but while Ethan is a young master of the Rhodes Family, he doesn’t have much real clout in Rhodes Corp. yet. He can pull some strings to make introductions, but I doubt he’s of any real use. Now, if Owen Rhodes were to put in a word, that might be a different story."
Hearing this, Chase slowly opened his eyes.
"What about Stella Sterling? She didn’t come home again?"
Gavin Sterling snorted coldly. "She’s hiding out in Lanthos Bay."
"Lanthos Bay? How did she get in?"
Chase, of course, also knew about Lanthos Bay.
He had liked the development before and had gone to see it.
He hadn’t been interested in the standard units, and the ones he liked were too expensive. On top of that, the development was so popular that even if you wanted to buy, there weren’t necessarily any units available. In the end, he had to give up on the idea.
Gavin Sterling said, "Lanthos Bay is a Kyros development. It seems Owen Rhodes is taking this ’debt of gratitude’ quite seriously."
The two foxes, one old and one young, exchanged a look and reached a mutual understanding.
Gavin Sterling then told Chase more about what had happened at the engagement party.
Chase had heard the gist of it earlier, but now he was learning the finer details.
Chase turned to Joel Joyce and asked, "Stella Sterling’s husband—do you have any leads on him?"
Joel Joyce shook his head. "None."
The moment he heard that, the anger Chase had just managed to suppress flared up again.
"Joel Joyce, what’s been on your mind lately? How many times have you handled a task to my satisfaction? Before, Stella Sterling even implied you were withholding information. Are you helping her hide things?"
Joel Joyce lowered his head. "That’s not it. Some things are just genuinely difficult to investigate."
Chase just stared at him coldly.
Gavin Sterling interjected, "Forget it, forget it. Just make sure you handle things properly from now on. Since we know where Stella Sterling is, just stake the place out until she appears. Hah! She ruined a perfectly good marriage arrangement with the Hollis Family. She’s really gotten capable, hasn’t she!"
He then said to Chase, "And while you’re at it, find out who that bastard is! See what he wants, and get them to divorce while the marriage is still fresh!"
Stella Sterling, who had just come out of the bathroom, suddenly sneezed.
Owen Rhodes was sitting on the bed reading. He looked up and saw Stella’s still-damp hair.
He frowned slightly. "Go dry your hair first. You’ll catch a cold."
Stella rubbed her nose. "I won’t. My nose just suddenly felt a little itchy."
Owen said seriously, "You’ll get a migraine."
Stella thought about it, went back, and didn’t come out again until her hair was completely dry.
When she came out, Owen was still reading. Stella leaned in. "What are you reading?"
Owen closed the book, showing her the two large words on the cover—*The Crowd*.
"Whoa," Stella said, impressed. "Don’t you get sleepy reading books like this?"
Owen slipped a bookmark into the page he was on. "If I get sleepy, that’s perfect. I’ll just go to sleep."
Stella looked at it with curiosity, and Owen, understanding, handed the book to her.
Stella wasn’t interested in this kind of book. She feigned interest, looking at the cover before flipping to the title page to read the description.
On the title page was Owen Rhodes’s signature. The handwriting was strong and elegant, very nice to look at.
Stella handed the book back and asked him, "So, are you sleepy now?"
"Not at all. What do you want to do?"
Stella then got up and took the exquisite mother-of-pearl box from the cabinet. "Let’s go treasure hunting."
"Alright."
Stella had preserved the letters well. They were arranged chronologically, with the most recent ones on top. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Even so, the most recent letter was already four years old.
Stella opened the envelope with a frank gaze and pulled out the letter inside.
To show her determination, she flipped through it page by page without any attempt to hide it, generously spreading the letter out in front of Owen Rhodes.
At the end of the letter was Ethan Rhodes’s signature. Stella glanced at it and was about to put it down, but couldn’t resist another look.
Owen noticed her pause. "What’s wrong?"
Stella frowned suspiciously, took the copy of *The Crowd*, and flipped it open to the title page.
She placed the letter next to the signature on the title page, comparing them back and forth.
Owen stared at her, his Adam’s apple bobbing nervously.
Stella turned to look at him before saying in a low voice, "Your handwriting is pretty similar."
’Similar, but not quite the same.’
Worried that Owen might be bothered by it, Stella quickly said, "It’s nothing, it’s not important."
With that, she moved on to the next letter.
Owen secretly breathed a sigh of relief, but after he did, he felt an indescribable sense of disappointment.
They went through the letters one by one. Stella would open them, and Owen would quietly put the pages back in their envelopes.
Suddenly, Owen asked, "Stella, do you like the ocean?"
Stella, focused on the letters, replied, "How did you know?"
"In Lumina, I was completely naked in front of you, but you drew the ocean instead."
"COUGH COUGH COUGH..." Stella choked out of nowhere.
Owen asked, "Why do you like it?"
Before Stella could answer, Owen pointed to a sentence on the letter. "Is it because of this?"
The letter read: *I hope you will always be as free as the ocean and as passionate as a bonfire.*
