Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Faye Rhodes, So You’re Into Women

Since Stella Sterling didn’t have an access pass for Vantage Tower, she couldn’t go directly to the 27th floor, where Zion Shawcross’s studio was located.

The elevator could only take them from the underground parking garage to the first-floor lobby.

The two had just stepped out of the elevator when the sharp-eyed Ken spotted Henry Wright waiting outside the security gates.

"Henry!"

Ken called out, waving at the man.

Henry Wright turned at the sound and immediately spotted the young man in a baseball cap, and beside him, a girl whose arm was in a sling but who possessed stunning looks and an exceptional presence.

As a celebrity manager, the moment Henry Wright saw Stella Sterling, his professional radar went off.

After so many years in the business, he had seen his fair share of beautiful women. It was safe to say he had developed a sharp, discerning eye.

It was no exaggeration to say that with a single glance, he could basically tell how far a person could go in the entertainment industry.

As for the girl beside Ken, he had reason to believe that if she were willing to enter the business, her success would be no less than that of the current Catherine Linden.

His eyes lit up as if he had just found a diamond in the sand. He stared intently at Stella Sterling as he walked over to Ken.

Recalling Ken’s earlier mention that the collaborating artist, Umi, had injured her arm, he deduced Stella Sterling’s identity.

"Hello, Ken. This must be the artist, Miss Umi, I presume?"

Stella Sterling gave him a polite smile and extended her hand in greeting. "Hello, I’m Umi."

When a person who seems aloof and distant from afar suddenly smiles at you, it feels like the first ray of spring sunshine melting the ice and snow.

Henry Wright felt that professional itch in his heart grow even stronger.

He shook Stella’s hand, his eyes shining. "Hello, hello! I had no idea Miss Umi would be so young, and so beautiful! Let’s head on up! Zion Shawcross has already arrived; he’s just waiting for you to sign the contract, Miss Umi."

Stella Sterling nodded, and the two of them followed Henry Wright into the elevator bound for the 27th floor.

On the way up, Henry Wright would turn to glance at Stella Sterling from time to time.

Whenever she felt his gaze, she would respond with a slight smile.

Ken, standing to the side, couldn’t watch any longer. Aware of his solemn duty, he puffed out his chest, lifted his chin, and took a step forward, partially shielding Stella Sterling with his body.

"Henry, you mind toning down the staring? You’re practically drooling."

Only then did Henry Wright realize he had been misunderstood.

He was a bit embarrassed but also amused, and he patted Ken’s shoulder.

"Well now, kid. I didn’t realize you were such a little protector. But you’ve got it all wrong. I just wanted to ask..." Henry Wright rubbed his hands together, looking at the person behind Ken. "Miss Umi, have you ever considered a career as a performing artist?"

Both Stella Sterling and Ken were stunned.

Before arriving, Stella Sterling had learned about Henry Wright from Owen Rhodes.

She knew that when Henry Wright first joined Vantage, he worked as a talent scout, and the several artists he had discovered all went on to have successful careers.

Later, after becoming a manager, he took on Zion Shawcross and Catherine Linden, Vantage’s top male and female stars, and had long since made a name for himself.

However, he hadn’t taken on any new talent in a very long time.

Hearing him say this, Stella Sterling was nonetheless quite pleased.

She smiled. "You think I have that potential?"

Since Stella Sterling’s words didn’t sound like a refusal, Henry Wright’s eyes instantly grew brighter.

"Of course. You might not know this, Miss Umi, but I have a real eye for people, especially in the entertainment world. If you’re interested, I’ll absolutely give you my all! It’s not a boast, Miss Umi, but among all the managers at Vantage," he pointed to himself with his thumb, "if I claim to be number two, no one dares claim to be number one."

Stella Sterling had never imagined that she would one day be approached by a talent scout.

She found it amusing and said, "Thank you, I’ll consider it."

Just as she finished speaking, the elevator came to a stop on the 27th floor.

Henry Wright led Stella Sterling and Ken into the studio.

The motion-sensor door slid open, and Faye Rhodes popped her head up from her workstation like a meerkat.

Zion Shawcross’s new album was a huge deal; it was safe to say all of Vantage was treating it with the utmost importance.

The matter of the album cover design had not been publicly announced in the studio, as it had yet to be finalized.

But after Jean Yates made a scene, everyone found out about it.

After Jean Yates was kicked out of the studio, the whole affair was kept even more under wraps.

As a result, at this moment, everyone except Faye Rhodes, the head of planning, had been sent away by Henry Wright under the pretext of a meeting.

The moment Faye Rhodes saw Stella Sterling walk in, her already round, almond-shaped eyes widened even further.

She was so shocked that she tripped over her own chair while getting up from her desk.

Her eyes wide, she asked Henry Wright, "Henry, this is...?"

Henry Wright’s face was lit up with the smile of someone who had just discovered a new star, so for a moment, he didn’t notice Faye Rhodes’s strange reaction.

He announced cheerfully, "This is Miss Umi, and beside her is her assistant, Ken."

"You said what?!" Faye Rhodes shouted in disbelief.

Stella Sterling simply winked at her, then extended her hand. "Hello, I’m Umi."

It was as if fireworks had gone off in Faye Rhodes’s head; her mind was completely blown.

The moment she took Stella Sterling’s hand, she pulled her away and hurried toward an empty corner.

...leaving Henry Wright and Ken behind, both completely bewildered.

It was Henry Wright who recovered first, shouting at Faye Rhodes’s retreating back, "Faye Rhodes, be careful! The lady is still injured!"

Once they were around the corner, Faye Rhodes finally let go of Stella Sterling and stared at her. "Auntie, you’re Umi? You’re not messing with me, are you?"

Although she said she didn’t believe it, in her heart, she already did.

Henry Wright had mentioned before that Umi had been suddenly injured; he’d even expressed concern that it might affect the collaboration.

The shock was too much for her to handle all at once. She roughly grabbed at her short hair, and after a few tugs, it was a complete, messy bird’s nest.

Stella Sterling watched her with an amused expression and helped smooth out her messy hair.

"I’m here to sign the contract. Faye, thank you for giving me this opportunity."

Faye Rhodes was internally ecstatic, her eyes filled with excitement. If not for the injury to Stella’s arm, she would have grabbed her hands and jumped up and down, spinning on the spot.

"Oh my god..." She covered her mouth with her hand. ’I’ve just had the ultimate fan moment out of the blue.’ "Auntie, can I use my niece-privilege to ask for a commission?"

"No, you can’t."

The light in Faye Rhodes’s eyes vanished, replaced by a look of puppy-dog disappointment.

Stella Sterling smoothed her hair and said with a smile, "You don’t need to ask. I’ll give you a piece as a gift."

Faye Rhodes dropped all pretense, lunging forward to plant a kiss on Stella Sterling’s cheek. "I love you!"

At that exact moment, Zion Shawcross emerged from the restroom. He watched the short-haired girl in front of him kiss the woman’s cheek and exclaim "I love you!", his own expression turning complicated.

The handsome young man’s usually languid brow furrowed slightly, and his tone held an indescribable hint of grievance. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

"Faye Rhodes, so you’re into women, huh."

Stella Sterling: "...?"

’Wait, this is a huge misunderstanding!’
