My Aloof Husband Can't Stop His Devoted Affection-Chapter 85 - 0: How embarrassing!
Chapter 85: 085: How embarrassing!
"Today, I finished revising the last part of the original manuscript, and the 3D drawings and model have been completed too. So, our studio’s job is two-thirds done. Now we just need to wait for Yun Group to finalize the deal and sign the contract." Cen Jin replied to Ms. Qin’s question while eating, took a sip of water, and continued, "So, I can finally sleep in tomorrow and don’t have to wake up so early. What’s up? Does the shop need help tomorrow?"
"Not really, we’ve hired three people recently, so we’re well-staffed now. Besides, those three new girls are doing quite well."
"That’s good then. You shouldn’t overwork yourself either. Didn’t you say your back was hurting a few days ago? Since there are people at the shop, you should take a good rest at home."
"Yeah, I know. I’m planning to rest at home tomorrow." As she spoke, Ms. Qin paused, continuing, "By the way, Uncle Jiang came back today. I saw him taking a walk with Aunt Hui Zi when I got home. He said if you’re not working tomorrow, we should gather together."
Surprised, Cen Jin looked up: "Uncle Jiang is back?"
"Yeah, he came back this afternoon from the mountains. He’s lost quite a lot of weight."
"Oh, it’s been over half a year since I last saw Uncle Jiang." Cen Jin nodded in response, then returned her gaze to the bowl, taking another bite of noodles. Suddenly, she remembered something rather ’serious’.
She even forgot to swallow the noodles in her mouth, her face crumpling in anxiety—they were probably going to have a dinner tomorrow, and Jiang Baizhou would definitely be home, so an encounter was unavoidable. Is this what they mean by you can escape the first, but not the fifteenth?
How awkward tomorrow would be!
Thinking of this, Cen Jin’s face immediately turned into a scowl, unconsciously raising her hand to her forehead. Though she knew it was an accident, for some reason, thinking about facing him made her feel uneasy and unsettled, even afraid to meet him.
Though she wasn’t particularly brave, she had always been strong-willed in certain aspects, never backing down like this before.
"What’s wrong?" Ms. Qin asked, confused by her sudden dejected demeanor.
Cen Jin snapped out of her thoughts, blinked dazedly at Ms. Qin, and shook her head: "No, nothing, Mom. You should go rest! I’m sure you’re exhausted today. I’ll wash the dishes myself. You probably have to help Aunt Hui Zi tomorrow morning, right?"
Ms. Qin yawned and nodded: "Alright, finish eating and get some sleep. The dinner is set for tomorrow."
"Okay, goodnight, Mom."
"Hmm."
Watching Ms. Qin go upstairs, Cen Jin sighed and slumped over the table like a wilting eggplant, no longer in the mood to eat her noodles.
It wasn’t until close to one o’clock that she slowly got up to wash the dishes, turned off the lights in the living room, and went upstairs to her room. She lay on the soft, comfortable bed but couldn’t fall asleep, her mind swirling with awkward scenes of facing Jiang Baizhou the next day.
She imagined countless greeting scenarios but none felt right.
After pondering for a long time, Cen Jin climbed out of bed, hesitantly approached the window, and peeked through a small gap in the curtains to find the light in the opposite room was off, guessing he must be asleep.
But it’s close to one o’clock now, so he should be asleep. Who would be like her, up at this hour with not a wink of sleep?
Standing for a little while, she crawled back into bed, picked up her phone, and started scrolling through social media, even specifically checking Jiang Baizhou’s page, only to find he hadn’t posted a single update, which was quite like him. freёweɓnovel_com
"Beep—."
Suddenly, a phone notification chimed in the silent room, nearly scaring the daylights out of Cen Jin, making her toss the phone aside.
