My Aloof Husband Can't Stop His Devoted Affection-Chapter 603 - 013: That is my girlfriend
Lu Xize calmly pulled out the car key, unbuckled the seatbelt, and nonchalantly pushed open the car door to get out, only then hearing her cursing: "Can’t you hurry up? You move slower than an old grandma or grandpa. Even senility is better than you! If there aren’t any seats left later, I’ll kill you."
Lu Xize casually closed the car door, frowning while cleaning his ear with a finger: "Alright, stop whining, let’s go! Otherwise, there really won’t be any seats left."
Yun Xi glared at him with annoyance, following behind him with a face full of disdain. In the end, it was unclear whether she unintentionally quickened her pace or Lu Xize deliberately slowed down, but slowly, they started walking side by side.
When they arrived at the entrance of the hot pot restaurant, Yun Xi walked up to the host stand outside and asked the attendant: "Are there any seats available?"
"How many?"
"Two."
"Um, we just filled up, but if you’re not in a hurry, I can give you a number, and you can wait for a bit, is that okay?"
Upon hearing this, Yun Xi deflated like a punctured balloon, sighed helplessly, and gave Lu Xize a fierce glare, even shoving him slightly: "It’s all your fault, I told you to hurry, see! Now we really have to wait."
Lu Xize also looked helpless. Seeing that there wasn’t a single person on the outside waiting chairs, he nodded and said to the attendant: "Take a number then!"
"Sure." The attendant immediately handed them a number, smiling politely: "Please have a seat over here and wait. We apologize for the inconvenience. There is some water and snacks available here for free."
Lu Xize took the slip of paper and signaled a thanks with a smile to the attendant. Turning back, he met Yun Xi’s resentful gaze, to which he responded with a helpless smile, grabbing her wrist and leading her to the bench: "Don’t look at me like that, or I’ll think you’ve fallen for me."
"Fall for my ass! I feel like killing you right now." Yun Xi grumbled, trying to shake off his hand, folding her arms in front of her chest, eyes full of displeasure.
"Alright, alright, my fault, my fault, I swear I won’t waste your time next time. We’re the only ones in line, so it shouldn’t be too long, let’s just sit down first!" Lu Xize didn’t get angry at her unreasonable behavior, instead he took her wrist once more and sat down.
"I want some ice cream." Yun Xi, watching the people inside enjoying their hot pot with happiness through the glass, felt her stomach growling. Retracting her gaze, she suddenly noticed an ice cream shop diagonally across and brightened up with an idea, quickly turning and shaking Lu Xize’s arm, with her eyes sparkling excitedly.
"Eating ice cream in the dead of winter? I think what’s in your head isn’t a brain, it’s ice cream! Under this sun, it’ll all melt into water, and then you can pour some cement in to solidify it with a shake or two."
"Your head is like mush!" Yun Xi retorted, slapping his arm impatiently: "Are you going to buy it or not?"
"Where? I don’t see any ice c..."
Lu Xize intentionally looked around randomly, and Yun Xi had already caught on to his little game. Before he could finish his sentence, she raised her hand and pointed in a direction. As soon as he noticed her pointing to an ice cream shop, he fell silent, giving her an exasperated side-eye.
"Hurry up," Yun Xi motioned with her eyes, urging.
Lu Xize sighed helplessly, placing the number slip in her hand: "Here, wait here, and don’t miss the call number, or your hot pot might be hopeless."
"Got it! Go on," Yun Xi took it, glanced at the number, and nodded with a smile, watching as he crossed the sidewalk. Her gaze didn’t withdraw until he reached the ice cream shop.
Outside the ice cream shop, three or five girls were standing, and Lu Xize, not wanting to cut in line, queued up behind them. After about ten seconds, the three girls in front kept turning back to look at him, whispering among themselves. When the two girls in front finally made their purchases and left, the three girls next in line placed their orders. A long-haired girl looked over at him again. At the moment, Lu Xize was still thinking about having forgotten to ask that girl what flavor she wanted, as he wasn’t sure of her preference.
But before he could decide on an ice cream, the long-haired girl mistook his gaze toward her as interest and bashfully made a move: "Um... handsome, are you buying ice cream too?"
Being hit on suddenly, Lu Xize was a bit surprised, but quickly regained his composure. After all, with his handsome face and stylish appearance, he was used to having countless girls hitting on him.
"Yeah!" Lu Xize answered decisively, his charming almond eyes curving slightly when he smiled, shining like stars.
His smile made the girl even more smitten, and the two girls beside her eagerly encouraged her, giving her a bit more courage despite her shyness: "Um... can we exchange contacts and be friends?"
Lu Xize immediately understood their intent, finding it unsurprising, and laughed: "Sorry, my girlfriend’s across the street watching. If she finds out, she’ll be mad, and she’s not easy to appease." After saying that, the ice cream order for the three girls was ready, and he went over to order, "One vanilla ice cream, please."
The girl was momentarily stunned. She thought he was interested, but he already had a girlfriend and refused so bluntly. Startled, she looked over to where he pointed — outside the hot pot restaurant, only one person sat waiting on the bench, and though a street separated them, she could see the girl’s sweet and beautiful doll-like face clearly.
Yun Xi, across the street, watched him chat with that girl, occasionally glancing over, especially when the three girls looked her way simultaneously, making her fuming mad. Was she a monkey for them to gawk at?
When Lu Xize came back with the ice cream, jogging back to her side, he handed her the ice cream: "Here, your ice cream."
Yun Xi glanced up at him with displeasure, not reaching out to take it. Lu Xize sat down beside her, meeting her eyes in confusion: "What? What’s wrong? Don’t like the flavor? You didn’t say anything when I was buying it, so how would I know?"
"You were chatting happily with that girl and didn’t think to message me to ask?" Yun Xi commented sarcastically with a light snort.
