Chapter 536: 017: Can’t see the unrestrained laughter anymore_2

Lu Shishu listened, glanced at the clock on the wall, and nodded: "Mm, you guys can get off work now! I’ll be leaving later too."

"Okay, then you should finish early too."

"Mm."

After An Qing left, Lu Shishu put down the water cup in her hand, walked to the easel, and covered the half-finished painting with a white cloth. She stretched her arms, picked up her phone, her bag, and coat from the standing rack, and closed the office door. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

When she left the studio, it had stopped raining outside. Lu Shishu closed the electronic iron door of the warehouse, got in her car, and drove towards Nanfeng District.

Since she has a habit of not liking dinner, unless she’s particularly hungry, she would only opt for some vegetarian food. But today, she really had no appetite, so she didn’t bother to pack anything and went straight home.

Coming out of the elevator, Lu Shishu noticed her house’s diagonal neighbor’s door was slightly open. About ten days ago, she saw a moving company taking furniture and sofas into that apartment, and after replacing all the furniture, she hadn’t seen anyone coming or going. It seemed that the apartment had been undergoing renovations these past few days, but beyond that, she hadn’t paid much attention.

Just as she reached her door, entered the password, and opened it, a cat’s meow suddenly came from behind: "Meow~"

At the sound, Lu Shishu instinctively turned her body to look and saw a very beautiful Ragdoll cat with blue eyes and white with light gray fur appear before her, making her pause. After the cat took two steps forward, she snapped out of it, smiled gently, turned around, squatted down slowly, reached out to play with it, and said in a very soft and sweet voice, "Kitty, whose little cutie are you? You’re really beautiful."

"Meow~"

The cat felt her touch, snuggled to her feet affectionately, and meowed coquettishly, seeming quite fond of her. After circling around her twice, it lay down by her feet, looking at her with large round eyes, exuding an adorably endearing vibe.

"Such a good kitty! It’s a pity I don’t have any food now, otherwise I’d love to give you a can to eat," Lu Shishu said while petting it.

Though she usually appears aloof, she has a tender heart, especially for small animals. She particularly loves cats and dogs. She once thought of keeping one, but her busy work schedule and frequent travels, combined with her laziness to clean up, deterred her. Most importantly, she couldn’t bear separation. The thought of them leaving one day after she raised them completely dispelled the idea.

The word ’separation’ is too sad. Perhaps it’s unavoidable in life, but she never wants to experience that deep pain again, she simply can’t handle it.

When the elegant figure from the diagonal door saw Lu Shishu squatting on the ground petting the cat, he paused too. Glancing at the open door behind her, he seemed to understand something. Seeing her face adorned with a gentle smile, it reminded him of when they were together seven years ago, unlike the false cold smile she wore during the day.

But such a tranquil moment didn’t even last half a minute before the cat, upon seeing him, meowed a few times, staring straight at him.

Lu Shishu noticed its gaze, then looked up, and directly met a familiar pair of deep-set black eyes. Startled, her expression instantly filled with surprise, her pupils slightly widened, reflecting disbelief.

"What a coincidence, meeting again," Nan Jiayan said, unable to suppress a laugh as he observed her changing expression.

"What are you doing here?" Lu Shishu stood up, looking at him with great puzzlement, but seeing him standing at that apartment door, she raised a curious eyebrow and tentatively asked, "You wouldn’t happen to be... that person who moved in recently, right?"

Nan Jiayan walked a couple of steps out and nodded, still smiling: "Mm, I didn’t like the previous furnishings and some renovations in the house, so I had them changed. I officially moved in only yesterday."

Lu Shishu pressed her lips together, her cold eyes filled with hostility and displeasure.

"I was quite surprised to see you just now," Nan Jiayan, understanding what her eyes conveyed, smiled and explained: "I asked a friend to find this place for me, I didn’t know you lived here, it’s purely a coincidence. I hadn’t even seen the apartment before. It was only half a month ago when I returned that I took a look, and I didn’t like the decor, so I had it changed."
