Chapter 473: 034: Wedding

In the afternoon, with the sun blazing overhead, Ye Lingran and Yun Qi arrived at the bookstore. Ye Lingran found the book she had been reading halfway through yesterday and sat down to continue, while Yun Qi, who rarely visits places like City of Books, reminisced about his last visit during his school days. After so many years, returning to this familiar yet strange place brought a sense of nostalgia.

While she was immersed in her book, he began to wander around. Occasionally, he picked up books that piqued his interest, but if the content didn’t quite suit his taste, he would put them back.

The bookstore is spread over three floors, and after leisurely browsing the second floor for half an hour, he felt refreshed. Since taking over as CEO of the Yun Group, his reading time had diminished. Most of his time was spent reviewing various documents and contracts. Unwinding in the ocean of knowledge is indeed a pleasant and calming experience.

Suddenly, he understood why Ye Lingran loved coming to the bookstore so much and spent the whole day there each time. Words have a unique charm that can completely captivate you.

When he returned to sit next to her, Ye Lingran glanced at him and, seeing he had empty hands, smiled and softly asked, "Didn’t find a suitable book for yourself?"

"Just looked around." Yun Qi rested his head on one hand, glancing at the book before her, "What book is it?"

"This one?" Ye Lingran chuckled, lifting it to show him, then picked up another book as well, "’Thorn Bird,’ a work by Colin MacColl, and this one is ’The Quiet Dawn Here,’ a book by Vasiliyev. I couldn’t find these two last time, but managed to find them both yesterday."

"Did you spend the whole day here yesterday?"

"Yeah, I read Su Xuelin’s ’Thorny Heart’ yesterday, which was quite good too."

Yun Qi laughed, recalling the cabinet next to her living room filled with classics by various authors. She truly loves reading, and her elegant and poised demeanor is partly attributed to her literary tastes, beyond her family’s upbringing.

Ye Lingran looked at him, considering that watching her read might be too boring for him. She slipped a bookmark into the page she had read, closed the book, stacked them together, and stood up, saying, "Let’s go! I’ll buy these and read them at home!"

"Hmm?" Yun Qi raised an eyebrow, puzzled by her words.

"Do you plan to sit here with me all afternoon?" Ye Lingran said, her glistening eyes staring at him with amusement. She actually didn’t mind much, just worried he might find it dull.

Yun Qi rose with a smile and took her hand, "Although sitting here is nice, it’s rare to have such free time; neither of us is busy. We shouldn’t waste it. Before we left, an intern at your studio suggested we have a nice date. So let’s go on a date!"

"Huh?" Ye Lingran widened her eyes in surprise, as he gently led her toward the cashier on the first floor.

At checkout, Yun Qi eagerly took out his phone to pay. Once the cashier packed the books, he took the bag and led her out of the bookstore, turning his head to ask, "Where to now?"

"I don’t know." Ye Lingran shook her head in confusion.

Yun Qi pondered for a while, "Well, last time in Jiang City, you picked a horror movie, and we haven’t gone to the cinema since. Seems like they’ve released a few new films lately; how about we go see one?"

Ye Lingran froze; recalling the awkward incident at the cinema in Jiang City made her slightly embarrassed.

"Let’s go then! There’s a cinema on the third floor of the mall ahead."

Halfway there, holding hands, Ye Lingran couldn’t bear the heat any longer, but thankfully, it was just across the street. Passing a cold drink shop, she noticeably slowed her pace, her gaze fixed on the couple walking out with icy drinks, and eventually stopped.

Yun Qi noticed she had stopped walking and turned to her, "What’s wrong?" As he spoke, he followed her gaze.

"Are you feeling hot? I want to drink milk tea."

Yun Qi chuckled, leading her to the shop entrance, "Take a look, what would you like?"

Ye Lingran carefully scanned the menu displayed in front of them, finally opting for a cup of milk cap, while Yun Qi chose an iced coffee. After waiting for about four or five minutes, their drinks were ready, and they stepped out of the shop once more.
