"I woke up when I realized you weren’t here," Yun Qi said with a lazy smile, his voice a bit hoarse. "When did you wake up?"

"Not long ago, just about ten minutes or so." Ye Lingran felt a bit awkward under his gaze and touched her own neck. "So... are you going back to sleep?"

"Hmm? What are you planning to do?"

"Nothing... just asking." Ye Lingran shook her head and quickly changed the subject. "Uh... right, Yun Xi just got up and then... ran off."

"Hmm, let her run then! There will be plenty of chances to ask her later; there’s no rush at the moment." Yun Qi replied softly. He never cared much for ’settling scores,’ as he had plenty of time now anyway.

"Oh, then... I’ll go change clothes." With that, she lowered her head and hurried toward the bathroom.

Yun Qi didn’t call out to her, merely smiled silently, recalling the scene from last night when he held her as they slept. The smile in his eyes deepened. It was the best sleep he’d had in two or three months, and he still felt like he hadn’t slept enough. He wanted to keep holding her, but saying that aloud would likely make her see him as a rogue. Remembering how she angrily pinched him yesterday, he found it somewhat endearing.

By the time she came out of the bathroom after changing, Yun Qi was still half-reclining on the bed, resting with his eyes closed. He opened them slowly when he heard her footsteps and saw her heading toward the door.

"Where are you going?" he called out.

"Hmm? Weren’t you sleeping?"

"I’m awake now, not sleeping anymore." Yun Qi gave a light tug at his lips. "What time is it?"

"When I just went out, it was 8:30. Now it’s probably around 8:40-something. My phone is outside, I didn’t bring it."

"Then no more sleeping." Yun Qi threw off the covers and got up from bed. "Where are you going?"

"I’m a bit hungry, was going to get something to eat. You should wash up quickly! Come out once you’re done."

"Okay."

After Yun Qi responded, Ye Lingran exchanged a glance with him, her face suddenly blushing ’whoosh’ red. She quickly looked away, biting her lip as she walked out. She almost bumped into the door frame. As she was about to hit it, Yun Qi instinctively reached out, his heart skipping a beat, but seeing her stop in time, he relaxed and laughed again.

Hearing his laughter behind her, Ye Lingran frustratedly clenched her fist, left the room, picked up her phone, and started preparing breakfast in the kitchen. There was some leftover porridge from last night. Ye Lingran took it out from the fridge to reheat it in the pot. She also toasted two slices of bread and made two sandwiches with the limited ingredients available. Since there was no milk or any fruit, mineral water would have to do.

Because breakfast was simple, by the time Yun Qi finished washing up, Ye Lingran had already served the porridge, and the sandwiches were in the final steps.

"What did you make? It smells so good!" Yun Qi walked into the kitchen, watching her slightly bent over and busy, then smiled and curiously asked.

"Not much, there weren’t a lot of ingredients. There’s some leftover porridge and I made two sandwiches. Just making do with what we have!"

"Hmm," Yun Qi responded softly. He wasn’t really concerned about it anyway, especially since it was made by her. Eating it felt like such a blessing, considering that during these busy two months, what he missed most was her cooking. Every time he ate, he would remember her quiet demeanor while wearing an apron and busy in the kitchen. Back then, he truly wanted to see her, talk to her, and watch her smile.

After sitting down, Ye Lingran took a bite of the sandwich, looked at him, and asked with some anticipation, "How is it?"

Yun Qi smiled, raising an eyebrow slightly, "Hmm, delicious."

Ye Lingran heard this and gave a knowing smile, suddenly remembering, "Aren’t you going to the company today?" 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Yun Qi glanced at the wall clock, "After breakfast, I’ll need to go there once. It’s been too long since I’ve been there; there are some documents and such that require my signature. But it won’t be as busy as before. How about you? Are you going back to your studio later?"

Ye Lingran nodded, "Yes, I have to go back. I have an order that’s in its final stages, but... I need to go home to change clothes first."

Yun Qi squinted slightly as if he remembered something, and the corners of his mouth lifted slightly. "Alright, I’ll drop you off later."

Seeing his smile, Ye Lingran silently turned her head away, ignoring him, not wanting him to know she understood what he was smiling about.
